I've installed CM 10.2 from 10-4 nightly with the gapps 20130813 and everything works great and really fast. Question is concerning the home screens and why Circle Widgets will not work on the Trebuchet home screen that comes with the ROM. I have to use the regular Home Screen in order to use the Circle Widgets (these are the best I've seen). Using the regular Home Screen loses some of the fancy transitions and other neat features.
Just for my info. Thanks in advance.

As topic says.
How many is too many icons on home screen before you get lag?
It obviously varies from rom to rom and how many widgets.
Just wondering how many you guys have (pages/icons/folders) and your personal experiences with lag increase or any performance differences.
I have main screen with clock and date widget and maybe 16 apps total between 2 other screens.
Ive recently started using advanced app launcher to clean up my app drawer making folders on home screen not needed for me.
im currently using cyan 4.02 (with the 5-page home screen)
on EACH of the 5 pages i have a battery and clock widget, and every single page is loaded with APP icons, and two of the pages have all of MANUPS' Hero widgets on it. ROM seems to be running just as quickly as it did when i first installed it.
However, i would imagine if you are using a lot of high-memory or long loading time WIDGETS, you may get a lag.
I currently am running 7 screens, 16 widgets and the rest of the space is apps. I don't usually get lag going back to the home screen unless I've been doing a lot of web browsing. I don't get the loading screen or anything though just takes a second to load up. I'm using switch rom so I also have manups AOSP on there with 5 home screens, 14 widgets the rest apps, same result.
Hmmm... I may be too cautious with my apping of pages then.
I have rooted and read everything about flashing a custom ROM to my phone. I have the OG Droid. I wanna know which one do ya'll think will be the best? I am currently using Home++ as my home replacement and Widget Locker for the lock screen. I would like a ROM that I can use these on but won't have to fight through multiple themes and built in 3rd party launchers to use. Any Suggestions?
I've been using Cyanogen mod for close to a year. It's great, clean, fast, and updates regularly. The default launcher is ADW, but you will have no problem switching it to Home++.

I'd recommend the CyanogenMod too, nadlabak did some great work there..
It's clean, fast and pretty stable so far..
Of course you can use the Home-Replacement and Widgets you like there
Is there anyway to enable a cascade home screen menu when you're already home and you press home again (like in HTC's Sense UI) on the stock launcher (or an alternate launcher that has a stock UI) on a rooted n1?
I'd really prefer not to run a third party launcher if at all possible.
I tried searching but only found results for fixing broken screens. :-\
Thanks for your help.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by cascade homescreen menu but I doubt what you want is possible in the stock launcher. Regardless I suggest you install something like Launcher Pro for added features but above all else, for the massive improvement in speed and smoothness. It was really a night and day difference on my phone and you can make Launcher Pro look exactly like stock. It was like buying a new phone.
Hello!
I noticed, that in apex launcher i don't have some widgets that i do have in stock tuchwiz. For example the weather widget or s planer widget. I got really used to apex but I would like to use that widgets to. Is there any fix to this problem?
Btw, I'm using latest alliance rom (LSA leak).
Thanks
I was searching for a solution to this as well. This is a known issue currently without a fix.
The stock widgets comes from the Touch Wiz UI, therefore you can't find it in other UI. It is not totally impossible to make it available in other UI, but most users wanted to use another UI because it has better widgets and mods, so it is unlikely that you will find stock widgets in other UI. I personally prefer the SPlanner widget, so I am still staying on TW.
I hope this clears things up. If you find this helpful, please press thank button. :fingers-crossed:
Just wondering if any of you switched over to Nova or if your sticking to the stock launcher.
Ive noticed some lag with stock but I enjoy the widgets touch wiz offers.
Stock or aftermarket launcher?
I'm currently using aviate by yahoo and I like it a lot especially with the transparent setting
I pretty much switched to Nova Launcher right away. Didn't even bother playing around with the Touchwiz launcher
Nova, latest beta. Looking good.
I'm using TW with no issues at all.
nova all the time.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
As soon as I got all my apps installed, switched to Google Experience.
This is clearly a question - it belongs in Q&A, moved. Please post in the correct sections.
Thanks.

That's the Google Now Launcher? I use a lot of different lauchers in my Note2 but Go Launcher is the one I have the most setup due to the extensive customizability-gestures-3D effects but it wasn't as impressive when I quickly installed in on a Note4 in Best Buy perhaps because I hadn't customized it yet but I also like the Google Now Launcher & Nova & Themer.
I generally immediately get rid of TW but it wasn't as bad in the Note4 but still not ultra smooth or interesting as the other lauchers. I really like the ability to change launchers which is another reason Android is & the next time I play with a Note4 I'll go through more launchers as it could definitely look cooler & be more functional.:good:
I switched to Nova Launcher beta instantly. TouchWiz isn't bad, but I can't stand the grid spacing as I like to keep a few widgets and apps on my main home screen.
I've already switched to Nova, phone should be here Friday. ??

Agree grid of icons gets old fast like lame iOS & I also try to keep icons to a minimum (Go Launcher lets you program 5 base hideable icons to launch additional apps with gestures like swipe up as well as scroll swipe across to another 5 icons & another 5 icons (5x3=15 x 2 including the programmable gestures upon a long press menu = 30 apps-shortcuts-functions) & I use a lot of widgets so I don't even have to click icons to access some data. I don't think non-Prime Nova lets you customize as much as Go Launcher but there are more & more cool launchers being developed & still setting up other launchers I previously mentioned.
Switched to Nova pretty much immediately. As mentioned above I can't stand the spacing between icons. Also I need gesture support, especially with such a large phone. Why that still hasn't been built into the touchwiz launcher I'll never know.
First thing I did was install the ADW launcher. I've been a fan for a long time.
