[Q] HTC One Dual SIM advice - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm thinking of buying the dual sim version once it's available in my country, but need some advice:
The most important thing to me is the ability to unlock the bootloader and install the newest stock (Google Play) and Cyanogen ROMs, as well as any other kernels and ROMs for One I may like. What concerns me about the dual sim version is that I won't be able to do that, because of the potential different drivers or software modifications needed for the dual sim functionality.
So, can you help me out? Do you know anything about unlocking the bootloader of this device? Do custom kernels and ROMs for the regular One work as expected on the dual sim version?

yes you're right bro ... first of all if you want to unlock the bootloader then its so simple just follow : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273570
also, there is very limited or i can say "No" support for the dual sim version of m7 ... didnt find any custom kernel and there a few custom rom only ...
so my advice is to better go or m7 single sim or look out some other device ...

Thanks for your answer! I was afraid of that, I really like the dual sim and sdcard support.
Any idea if regular One ROMs work at all (mainly the Google Play ROM)? For example if they work fine with sim 1, but just don't recognize sim 2 and/or sdcard? They would still be usable that way...
And what about Cyanogen mod? It's my impression that it's the best one out there, and it's adaptable, so there might be hope...

in china jifeng forum, there r many roms out there for the dual sim card version htc one,aka 802w,one thing i know is that the kernel code has not been releashed, so some functionalities on 802w rom still can be realized e.g. swipe the logo or double tap the awake the phone. that is all i konw
Sent from my HTC 802w using xda app-developers app

That helps a little, but I couldn't find the forum you mentioned. Do you have a link, so I could take a look?
BTW, seeing that you have 802w, how's the battery life?

All thinks in my blog

Thanks! In the end I decided to go with the regular one, and got it a couple of days ago.
Thanks anyway, your answers were helpful, I just got tired of waiting for the dual sim version, it was supposed to arrive at the end of september, but it's still not here...

I would like to revisit the question about running a Custom Rom for the regular HTC One on the Dual SIM version.
Has someone tried this?
My favorite Rom is PACman. It is available for a pretty big amount of devices, including the regular HTC One. I would love to hear this is running on the Dual SIM version.
I would get the Dual SIM version only because of the microSD card slot. Think of this what you want, but though the point for me concerning Custom Roms is, that it wouldn't be a problem to not being able to run a second SIM card, but I want be able to use a microSD card.
I would be very pleased if someone owning the HTC One Dual SIM could try out running PACman on it.

Upgrade GTS5570 to Gingerbread on carrier based phone

Hello!! I am just trying to find out how we can unlock the phones that we bought from different carrier providers and how to upgrade them manually...
Since, I don't have a carrier based phone, I'm short of ideas on this topic. So, is there anyone who has upgraded to gingerbread in a carrier based rom, please make sure you reply with all the details.
Also, I especially want to know about upgrading in a Vodafone - Italy galaxy mini phone. If anyone had tried it please share it here.
Thanks!!!
Hey
I have a carrier based phone (Comcel in Colombia) and I upgraded to GB without any problems (I used ODIN to flash GB).
SIM gets unlocked due to the fact that the whole filesystem gets rewritten, so I'd say that there's no problem in flashing different version of the OS on carrier based devices.
The only way that would be a problem is if the carrier has custom apps that report back (kinda like Verizon does in the US with some HTC devices).
For the Italian Vodafone, sorry I can't help you with that

Okk so you mean you can now use sim card from any provider after you flashed gb.... Also, will it have any effects on the performance of phone and what will happen if teh carrier gets to know about it???

Yeah, phone's now SIM unlocked, regarding perfomance (besides the obvious Froyo to GB performanc boost) there's no discernable change, there shouldn't be any change unless you're flashing a non-compatible ROM (EU rom on a 5570L or viceversa).
I'm not a lawyer but from what I've heard the only way a carrier can find out that you have a custom ROM is if you take your phone for repairs and all they can do is void your warranty, nothing more, althought I'd check the service contract in case there's something hidden in there.

[Q] HTC One T-Mobile Wifi Calling Port

Originally, I posted this on the beginner's thread, but no one would help me
So I decided to make a new thread.
I have an unlocked HTC One 32GB purchased directly from HTC, and discovered that it could not use the wifi-calling function of t-mobile. So, I managed to unlock the bootloader and root, but don't know what to do now.
How can I just add the wifi calling option in the settings, and restore the apps I lost while unlocking the bootloader?
Also, can I get official updates from HTC, even though I'm rooted?
Please, make the answers user-friendly (I'm very new to this community and android- first android phone!)
Any help is very much appreciated.

You need a ROM that supports wifi calling. After you unlocked your bootloader, you need to either flash the stock T-Mobile ROM or a custom ROM that has wifi calling built in. Keep in the mind that a lot of the newer ROMs using 4.2 base do not support wifi calling yet so you need something with a 4.1.2 base. I'm using ARHD 9.4 and wifi calling works flawlessly. Hope this helps.

[Q] Custom ROM Support for Dual SIM?

Hello all,
This question prompted by the latest AOKP build, which got me thinking about finally flashing a custom ROM. I've got the HTC One, China Unicom version (802w), with the dual SIM card. I'd like to keep using two SIMs, if possible, but there's not much information over in the support thread on whether or not dual SIMs are supported. If anyone knows (or is willing to ask for me - not enough posts to post there), I'd appreciate it :good:
Not sure if necessary, but here's more info: unlocked bootloader, but haven't flashed anything custom onto it (also, S-ON still, etc. etc.). Have installed GApps using the HTC app for doing that. Successfully grabbed the OTA update from a couple weeks ago, and am currently running Android 4.2.2. Let me know if any more information is needed.
Thanks in advance!

Buy a single sim, dual sim has no good development going on. Get a single sim International or Developer Edition, you won't regret it
any idea for dual sim version ?
I still have evo 3d and bought One few weeks ago. On evo I had only one update and on One 3 updates in few days and waiting for Kit kat in January. And development comunity for One with sense is great, so I would recomend any single SIM version. Dual SIM is not nearly as supported as single SIM
op, go for 802w, wont regret it, also are some rom's aviabile

Well. ....if you actually read through both the "original android development" and "android development" forums you would find what you're looking for. The specific device support should be detailed in the first few posts.
For kernel, take a look a my SkyHigh kernel which supports dual SIM variants.
Cant say about ROM, as only use stock, mainly because I'm happy with it and easier to debug kernel rather than what could be the ROM.
Best of luck with the reading
Edit: before flashing, you may need to unlock your bootloader first (maybe crom app or something) and enable OEM unlock in developer settings.
