[Q] 4.3 Update and S-OFF - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I decided to flash the 4.3 update. I was running Viper Rom 1.1.0, Elemental X 0.7 Kernel and I was S-OFF through revone. The way i did it was by unrooting and relocking my bootloader and then flashing the OTA from Sprint. After that was said and done, I unlocked the bootloader through HTC Dev. I noticed that in the bootloader it still said S-OFF? I thought that doing the RUU would relock everthing and would break the S-OFF? Can anybody shed some light on this subject for me. Thanks

AFAIK s-off is permanent.

Going back to stock for 4.3 update and 3.22

Hi, I want to get 3.22 firmware and 4.3.
So, i'm planning to go back to stock by using recovery mode (odexed) by mike1986's guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
Then, after going to stock, i would update through HTC OTA to get the 3.22 firmware.. would this work?
By the way, I'm s-on with 1.54 hboot, so i think the only way for me to get the latest firmware(3.22) is through HTC OTA update in the stock rom.
Thanks everybody!!
Anyone? will this work?
If you're just going to flash a custom ROM and kernel, why are you trying to get the OTA?

so I could get 3.22 firmware? haha does that make sense?
Is there anyway that I can get 3.22 firmware with s-on and 1.54 hboot?

Nope, only through official stock updates afaik...
But yeah, I think you're steps are right:
1. Restore stock nandroid backup
2. Restore stock recovery
3. Re-lock the device using (I believe) fastboot...
But not completely sure myself still either...
I'm also wondering how to go back to stock. HBoot 1.54, S-on. Im on .206 so the first method wont work for me I think. I can't find a decent tutorial. Still quite noobish when it comes to this stuff
Hi guys,
I am the same, S-ON with hboot 1.54 ,, and all I want to do is to get the last update firmware , as I understand it is something that can't be flashed with a ROM like ARHD 22 so what are the right steps please. and what are the risks if there is any.
thanks.
It seems this is the way:
1. Restore stock rom/nandroid backup
2. Restore stock recovery
3. Relock the bootloader using fastboot, with this command: fastboot oem lock
That SHOULD be it I think,
Should I get the odexed of v4.1.2 1.29.1540.17 then wait for the htc one update in the phone to get the 3.22 firmware?

I've been asking myself the same questions today and researched about it, then made this post for clarification http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462048
Basically, afaik I'm running 3.22 having updated from 3.17 (Maximus HD 13.0) to 3.22 (Maximus HD 14.0) via OTA. I also have and always have had hboot 1.54 and S-On
Ah, you're looking for the firmware upgrade. When I flashed the 1.29.1540.16 RUU to grab the update and get a system dump I had to downgrade my firmware and hboot in order to get the RUU to flash. I'm s-off and I was on GPe firmware, so this may not pertain to anyone in this thread.
I believe the stock nandroid and recovery would be the only way to go for s-on devices. If you're already on the latest firmware (prior to the new 4.3 OTA) and hboot, there isn't a newer RUU yet. And since you can't downgrade due to s-on, you'll have to use a nandroid and flash a stock recovery.
I may be completely wrong, so please correct me if I am.

I was under the same impression, but as it turns out 'build number' in your Settings/About/Software/More IS the firmware version, and mine is 3.22.1540, and I don't have S-On, I have hboot 1.54 and I just did an OTA from a custom rom on base 3.17 to the one on 3.22

So it was the official OTA from HTC, or an OTA that the developer of the custom rom pushed out?
But if you have S-off you could just downgrade, RUU, then receive the OTA anyway, so it doesn't really apply.

Custom developer, but I still am running the latest firmware am I not? Only thing I am uncertain about is whether the baseband version corresponds to the one on 3.22, and why does it say "OS-2.24.901.1" on my bootloader

OTA's from dev's will not include firmware. The version you are seeing in the setting menu is the version listed in the build.prop, it isn't actually showing the devices firmware version.

So having S-On, hboot 1.54 and no recovery of my stock android, what can I do to update my firmware and radio ? My CID is CID_401, I can't find any RUUs or nandroid backs for it
Edit:I think I have a TWRP backup of my phone i made one day after buying it, although I think it is after I upgraded to 4.2.2 OTA (stock) and unlocked and rooted. However it should still be a stock backup. Will this help in anyway? (Note: I use CWM now)

Radios are flashable in recovery.
The backup will work if you can find a stock recovery to flash, then relock the boot loader and receive OTA. If there's even an OTA for your CID yet.
Though the backup being rooted may cause the OTA to fail.

is the stock recovery CID dependent ? Also, can I not simply unroot if I am rooted?

Hey, on returning to stock using stock recovery, could i use the odexed or de odexed version of 4.3 to get the 3.22 firmware? The rom is posted in the one android development. Coukd i use this instead of mike1986's stock rom?

HTC One: Revone, Moonshine, S-off

Hey,
I'm finding it really difficult to get a definitive answer on the following question. So I'm just going to ask: if my HTC One has been updated to 4.2.2 by my carrier, does this mean I cannot use moonshine or revone to turn S-off? I've been trying all morning and I've read that this might be the case? Which is a damn shame as I wanted stock android with those lovely OTA updates.
Cheers, Jav

If you updated using OTA your bootloader would have been updated to 1.54 (you can check by going to bootloader. POWER + VOL DOWN)
and revone or moonshine will not work on 1.54.

Ah - that's what I was thinking. So there isn't a way to "convert" my own to a Google Play Edition until a new way to turn S-off is found?
Thanks for your help - it's good to have clarity! =)
You can flash a GE rom based.
But you can't receive the OTA from htc
You need the s-off for the full convert to GE edition

What do you mean by convert? If you mean flashing different ROMs, then you can use HTCdev to unlock your bootloader, and flash different ROMs, Radios, and kernels.
It will show your bootloader as TAMPERED and and UNLOCKED / RELOCKED (ie never again simply LOCKED). And you will loose OTA capability unless u go back to stock ROM and recovery and relock.
You will also not be able to flash unsigned firmware.
If you do decide to unlock, make a nandroid backup of your stock ROM before flashing anything new, so that you can always go back to stock ROM for OTAs.

So to make it all legit, I'd have to somehow revert my bootloader back to a version that supported turning S-off? I'm pretty sure that's beyond my feeble skills!
Never mind then - cheers all =)

But he could still use a GPe ROM, right? He wouldn't get the black bootloader or GOOGL001 CID, but the custom GPe ROMs out there would give him GPe experience.
Or am I missing something?

Not an RUU, a custom ROM.
You would have to
1- unlock bootloader using HTCdev (will completely wipe your phone)
2- install custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
3- make a nandroid backup of your stock ROM for the future
4- flash a GPe ROM from the development thread
That's it in a nutshell.
You will need your stock ROM and stock recovery later to get your official OTA, because that will be the only way to update your firmware. Everything else is pretty much covered in the custom ROMs out there.
I recommend reading the guides to familiarize yourself with the procedures.
I personally am on ARHD Sense 5 ROM, but there's also a GPe version, as well as others of course. Read a bit through these threads to get a "feeling" about them.

[Q] Help UnBrick.

Seems like I require S-OFF.
Currently I got custom recovery and ROM but it only boots into fastboot until S-OFF is achieved.
HBoot is 1.44 S-ON, locked with tampered flag(Not the new 1.54/1.45 HBoot).
CID has been set to 11111111 and has not been unlocked on HTCDev before.
How would I proceed? or is this a complete paper weight? Phone doesn't have warranty anymore.
Thanks.
Try running an RUU while the phone is connected and in bootloader mode.

Yes. As you are S-OFF, you can flash a RUU based on 1.44 HBOOT, and use Revone to root/unlock bootloader without going with HTC Dev (assuming that is your goal) You will lose all data however.

what to do? need complete stock to send back, currently at relocked s-on stock rom

i was running custom rom but decided the blue haze on the camera wasn't doing it for me and turns out htc are able to repair it once i send in
I got to relocked s-on only showing no tampered or anything by flashing ruu
running latest sense rom and hboot 1.56 atm
need to get back to just [locked] showing s-on
this is frustrating me I need help
i unlocked this originally through htc if that matters
You will need s-off to reset the bootloader back to locked instead of re-locked

S-OFF the phone. Then, use the flash the Guru Bootloader Reset zip in TWRP/CWM. From there, you can set it to Locked. But, HBOOT 1.56 has a lot of problems when trying to S-OFF. Its a hit and miss chance. Try using Firewater to S-OFF
