How much money do you guys think the nexus 5 would be? i would love a two year 16gb model for 200$.
I'm thinking $400 for the base model, off contract. They're not going to retain the same pricing as the N4 in all likelihood given those "leaked" specs.
hopefully.that would be a good deal for those specs

Maybe one day UNICEF will get into the smartphone business...
But really $200 for the specs we have seen? That would be giving it away. Im guessing something like $349 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB.

I am eagerly waiting for the release of N5, if the No - Contract price is 400$ or above then it is out of my reach.

Don't forget that a year ago the Nexus 4 specs were considered top of the line....
It really is the only bump they can go with the N5 otherwise they would just be repackaging the N4.
lets also guess how many people will get their hands on n5
I'll definitely fork out $349 or $399 for the 16GB or 32GB models respectively. Anything more than that, I might think twice.
But I'll still probably take it. Nexus S was my first android phone and I've never regretted my decision of getting that (even if I don't have it anymore since I lost it on my way to work)
But yes, take my money please :victory:

349/399 for the 16 and 32 gb respectively, 200 is just impossible, google is not a charity.

I think the OP meant $200 on contract, which would be the absolute most it would cost on contract, and even that would be a ripoff. If it's $349-$399 off contract, then on contract it should be free.

Why does everyone assume the pricing can't be the same as the N4 last year? The N4 was basically the Optimus G, which at the time was the best of the best, as far as specs go.
This time around, the N5 is basically the G2, which, again, currently has the highest specs on the market. The situation looks identical to me, and I see no reason the price should not be identical as well.

if the 32gb really had the g2-battery, then thats the only version to go for! \m/
I seriously hope it`s gonna be priced like the N4
299$ / 349$ for 16GB/32GB or 8GB/16GB I dont really mind the Flash size as long as it`s cheap
Surely the 2 version of batteries cant be right as this would mean the dimensions would be different??
I wish this was the case but I cant see it myself.
Ill be getting it regardless, just had a tax rebate so nicely timed with the launch of the phone

Apparently we who preordered the nexus 7 early got bamboozled (lol) , the 8gb will be discontinued and the 16gb will take its place at $199. While the 32gb will replace the 16gb.

You bought the product because were happy with the price and gear being offered.
The Nexus 7 is a damn good deal any way you look at it. $50 extra to have this thing for 2-3 months which would have otherwise been spent dreaming of purchasing one and browsing sites for the best deals all day?
I'm happy with my purchase still. I feel bad for anyone who got an 8gb though.

Not to mention we early adopters got $25 plat store credit. So it's not that bad.

I hardly buy anything from the play store. While the credit is nice to have, I rather see a less amount on my credit card bill.
It's something I'll have to get over but I technically haven't even paid for it yet since the bill isn't due lol. So.. yeah, in that case I'm a little annoyed.

I knew that a that better / cheaper SKU would show up, didn't expect it before Christmas TBH, but I don't care I wanted to experience stock Jelly Bean asap. I've ordered a usb-otg cable and tasty 32 GB USB 3.0 pendrive, which has the benefit of being used over multiple devices.
I'm not really mad I'm just disappointed in Google's marketing. Not a lot of people buy into the nexus brand and Its really not nice to do what they are going to do but since I love this device so much I'm not going to get mad, I'm just going to right them a nice message of what I think about this on October 29th.
Now I'm thinking if I should buy the nexus 4 when they release it or wait.
I'm wondering if people sending in 8gb sets for RMA would get a 16gb back.
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
I've had mine for about a week and love it. I have a 30 day return policy, if my store got them by Oct 29, wonder if they would let me return it?

I guess you can still call it a rumor. But the 32GB is obviously real at $250 and the 16GB isn't going away, so it'll almost certainly drop to $200. There isn't room for an 8GB model.
I think it's just common sense at this point that the 8GB model is about to get clearanced at the end of the month.

From a business stand point, they are going to sell the 8GB at 199 till it's out of stock, then push the 16gb down to 199 and throw in the 32gb at 250.

2-3 months? That's perhaps true if you're in the US, where it's been released first - not counting some later adopters who didn't get it from day 1. That's not true anymore in some other countries, where it's been out for quite less than 2 months.

Guess what? In those countries where it's been released more recently, the credit is still active... and thus I'd bet the early 32GB buyers will still get it.
So, yes, it IS bad, when there's a 32GB model scheduled for the same price as your 16GB unit, 45 days (since there are obviously numerous leaks) after it's been available in your country.

I have to agree. The people that have had there's for 31-45 days get screwed the hardest. They're just outside the return/refund window and have had so little time with there's to really enjoy it before a price drop and a higher capacity model for the same damn price is released...
I'm one of those people and I'm pretty miffed... I'll be very caution and wait 2-3 months after every new Nexus release or simply not buy from Google at all... we shall see...

Bought the 8 at launch from the Play Store to see if I would like using a tablet. Now I use it all the time. Rely on it. So. Afraid to root it in case I brick it. Want root for Stickmount. 32G means I can have a load of storage and root my 8 with no fear. Cool. Also, its easy to forget just how low cost these devices really are. I think the 32 is a response to the ongoing criticism of the non expandable storage capacity. I like that they listened.

Now they have stopped the Play Store credit and freebies, along with great economies of scale, maybe the 8 GB will get a price cut to undermine the cheapest Kindle Fire?

Cool, I'm not jealous! However, if you were to run Androbench from the Play Store and it whoops my N7 8 GB, I might be, hint hint
I figured many users may want to express what they feel about the new Nexus 4.
Well, in my opinion - It surely is a beast - I don't like the look of it though - The back looks stunning but the front is kind of weird.
THE BEST PART - The price is INSANE! 349 for 16GB GSM - Getting a 2G, Quad Core BEAST is INSANE!
Sorry for caps but it's just amazing! I'm trying to sell out my Nexus to get the N4.
The thing I don't like - It's not SuperAmoled - But it's not Pentile either.
Android 4.2 features are amazing, it looks smooth! I love that they finally included quick settings and the sphere camera thing is epic.
Let's get this thread going
the phone is very cheap for the hardware, but i think if it won´t offer a better batterylife i can wait. the nexus itself is awesome and very fast, there´s no need for me atm for more power xD
i hate the fact that google is gonna take the way of apple, getting money (50€/$) for 8gb extra internal storage... and the 8gb version makes not much sense. if u own such a device, you´d like to play games, that take benefits from the hardware and such games are 1gb+. all in all i can wait for the moment. in 2months i can get a new phone, because my contract is gonna expire
i´d always prefer a nexus, but hd display, with only 16gb storage sucks if u want to watch hd videos :/ so i might take an s3 or nexus tablet for that and stick to the nexus as mainphone, we´ll see.

I got mine on 10/5, so about 3 weeks ago. Does anyone know anyway to convince Google to take it as a return? I see they have 15 days only on their website, which is honestly a joke... Except for big ticket items (cars, homes, etc.) the standard should really be 30 days and I'd even say up to 90. Anyway, any guidance is helpful, if there isn't any, no big deal.

How the hell Google is taking way of apple when Google is selling their flagship phone for $300-$350? Apple charges $700 for the unlocked iPhone 5. At this price I don't think there is any room to complain.

I am seriously considering getting one of these babies at launch. The specs look fantastic and I have grown to love stock android since getting my Nexus 7. I'm hoping I can set my 6 month old One X about £270-280 so that it will cover this purchase. The only downgrade will be the storage space but considering I only use about 4gb of the available space on my One X it won't be an issue.
I understand for some 16gb won't be enough. But if you look at what Google has done with the Nexus 7 I wouldn't be surprised to see a 32gb model released a few months down the line.
I'd like to see a screen comparison between the One X and the Nexus 4. I LOVE the screen on my One X and if the Nexus 4 screen isn't at a similar level it could make me decide to stick with what I have.

Undoubtedly! The Nexus 4 is SO cheap! I can literally sell my Galaxy Nexus right now for the same price of the Nexus 4.
At this point it may be difficult to sell the GNex at New pricing, unless you literally ordered it before it was removed from Play or you use convincing-enough wording when listing it on Amazon.

I'm going to buy direct from Google and switch to GiffGaff. It runs on o2's network so the signal will be the same. They have a variety of very low priced offers. Check it out: http://giffgaff.com/
I've cancelled my contract with Vodafone. Contracts are just too expensive in the long run. This phone will be around £25-30 for 2 years. That makes a total price of £600-720. Buying direct and using GiffGaffs £10 a month offer after two years it is £520
Thought i'd start a thread for UK chat regarding orders pricing etc as we had for the Nexus 4 before.
So who has a good idea on pricing? If it's under £250 for 16gb i'll be tempted. Any closer to the £300 mark and i'll probably go with the MI3. I'm currently using a THL W200 i'm a phone addict
Well when the Nexus 4 launched it was $299 in the US and £239 in the UK, and the price leaks for the 16GB Nexus 5 have been $299 so if we were to believe these leaks then the UK price will again be £239.
I think the 16gb would be either £239 or £249 and the 32gb £299. Reasonable price to be fair. Xiaomi Mi3 only will have MIUI support no other custom ROM just like the previous Xiaomi.
I'll be upgrading from my nexus 4, if rumours of a larger battery for the 32gb then I'll go for that if not 16gb is more than enough for me with all the cloud storage etc available.
Come on Google, just release it already damn you!

Unless it's already sold out, you're buying it subsidised with a contract, or you're impatient enough that you can't wait a day or two for shipping, I can't think of any reason not to buy it directly from Google.

Despite my Nexus 4 still going strong, one of the major reasons I'm going to upgrade is proper 4G LTE support. 4G services for the rest of the networks have started going live. Being on the Three network on The One Plan lets me take advantage of it as soon as it is available. But of course I need a phone that supports LTE, and thus my upgrade.
Hmm still not a peep of it yet...I'll keep checking back all morning not sure why as if I get it I can't afford it til Friday at all.

In my opinion, no. And for the following reasons:
The only worthy (to me) improvements will be a larger 4.95" 1080p screen and slightly smaller phone dimensions. Things like purported camera improvements and faster processor are not important to me cause I wont notice the difference. I am also not ready to pay LTE prices as I only ever use mobile data when I am commuting so the inclusion of LTE doesnt matter. Finally the N4 is such a beautiful phone and the N5 has nothing on it in the looks department.
If you currently use a GNex then it would be a worthy upgrade, if you have an N4, less so.

I'll be getting it as soon as it's pre-orderable (if that's a word).
My Galaxy S3 is on it's last legs and would like to turn it into a dash cam after getting a new phone.
Currently hoping that they announce a Nexus 10 2013 as well because I can't justify getting a Nexus 5 and a 7 since they're so closely related...a new 10 inch tab would be lovely though. I dropped my Prime and it shattered into a thousand pieces so this month will be an expensive one.
I am wondering if they're going to do a staggered release like they did with the 2013 Nexus 7. I think it did prevent a lot of ordering havoc but we had to wait an extra month after the initial release in the USA which sucked.
I'm already to go for this as well... but that being said, not having a firm release date is a pain..
Hi,
I'll probably upgrade just because it has LTE and 32GB .... I always had 32gb phones with the exception of my current Nexus 4 and i'm already struggling with space... The only thing that bothers me is the size... i already had a 5" phone and it was very unconfortable to use the phone with only one hand....
I think the size of the Nexus 4 is perfect for me

True. I returned my iPhone 5S yesterday and ordered the Nexus 5.
Unless you stick to the upgrading every 2-years at subsided pricing, Google has the best pricing as far as I see.
Let's just be happy there was no 8GB version. Otherwise the 8GB would have probably started at $349 and bumped the other 2 up by $50.
The Nexus device is not really meant to compete with the S3 or G2 at this point. The Nexus device is really meant for devs to create on pure Android and Google is willing to eat profits for that. In the meantime all the non-devs and phone geeks get to enjoy a great phone at a great price.
If Google wanted to sell this phone like there was no tomorrow and compete with Samsung you would have seen some crazy marketing done by them prior to the launch. Instead, there wasn't even a peep out of Google and it silently just showed up for sale. To me that says they are not trying to take over the world with device sales.
I think their probably more interested in making profits on devices through Motorola. These are just some of my opinions and really doesn't represent anything more then that. Only Google really knows the answer to the who, what, where, when and why's. Just accept you are getting a great phone at a great price.
you know it only cost Samsung 240 dollars to build 3? and look at the price of that. ridiculous. I am grateful for the nexus line of phones. even with some compromises . I am done spending that kind of money on phones anymore

Well You Kinda Knew It Was Going To Happen..
When Google announced their " Silver Line " of products.. and these new products were going to go main stream retail and now it seems with the Big Four carrier's as well.. that, the price of entry was going to go up.
But an 83% increase in price over the 16 Gb entry model and roughly 62% over the 32 Gb version of the previous Nexus 5 to a whopping $650.00+ Tax.
And.. I'm sure the carrier's will offer the N6 @ $199.99 down with a commitment.. ( T-Mobile of course will go $0.00 down and 24 equal payments ) but you know the carrier versions will come with bloatware.. and will AT&T , Verizon and Sprint lock them down like they did their versions of the LG-G3 which all but halted development for that device on those carrier's?
If you can still get a *bloat free* version of the N6 directly from Google.. are you willing to pony up $650.00+ Tax & Shipping cost for the Nexus 6?

I am pretty sure they will do the same like Motorola and keep the price relatively low

$650.00 is the price..
I'm in Canada, and it's 750$. It's a little too steep for me. I'll hold off for as long as my Nexus 4 is still relevant.
Price of the phones here are pretty much all the same anyway (mostly $600+) so I'm used to that [emoji19]
But the N6 looks like a direct competitor to the Note4… Hmm hard decision.

Nope I'm not paying
Nope. Was hoping to buy the 64gb one, but $700 is too much for me on a phone. I might have paid $600. Some day maybe, when the resale price drops. Hopefully there's no supply/production issues, and new resales don't get inflated like they did with the OnePlus One.
Bought a used Note 3 off Swappa for $350 instead. T-Mobile one too, so at least I can root it easily and if I get flash-happy and feel like setting the KNOX counter to 0x1, at least I can try some ROMs and kernels.
I've seen it live, it's an amazing phone! It feels great in hands and it's moving like the wind on the web and apps!
I'm still hoping the new and/or "cheaper" companies will push into the western market and stop this inflational pricing, like the Moto G or OnePlusOne
definitely won't pay 500 bucks or more for a phone
If I had the money I would have not paid $650 even for a Nexus phone plus this is too much considering I could get a phone with almost the same specs half of the price. I'll just get a Nexus 5 or Nexus 9(depending on the price)
650USD...That's about 500 Euro.
Do you lot realize that's what the Nexus 5 cost when they finally managed to import it to the Netherlands, several bloody months after the release?...
Ths Nexus 6 doesn't even have a price here yet, but if you think 640 is bad, the average price for a high-end smartphone here is 800 euro, 1025USD.
So yes, I would happily pay 500 euro for it. If it had a MicroSD slot, anyway.

It's hard decision to make, I have a Nexus 4 and skipped N5 for N6, but completely in splits right now. There is no official info on price here in India, but 650 USD translates to Rs. 39,750 and 699 USD means Rs. 42,750, I guess there will be local taxes, if I consider other flagships, S5 Exynos is down at Rs. 37,000, G3 at Rs. 40,000, Z3 is at Rs. 49,999, so taking these into consideration the asking price for N6 is okayish, but when I consider the reported OPO launch in India at the end of the year at Rs. 22,000 and the Moto X (2014) at Rs. 31,999.. I am not able to make my mind up.. both of these are great devices and they will eventually get Lollipop.
PS: I almost forgot the monstrous Lenovo Vibe Z2 here with 801, 3GB, 16MP OIS Cam, a 6" QHD Screen and a healthy 400 mAh battery available at Rs. 32,999/- Its hard decision to make!
Short answer: Hell no.
Long answer: Considering how expensive new smartphones are, its no surprise how expensive the N6 is. Some rather rich people or Nexus fans will get it, but I have never bought a smartphone over €300.-
My current phone, the Z Ultra, fulfills everything I want and I bought it for only €250.- 3 months ago. The difference between Snapdragon 800 and 805 are not that big, at least in everyday use.
Well, at least I hope this nexus will have a better quality and purchase availability.
Considering that the new nexus is 6 coll, well...
My Z ultra isnt that out of standard anymore.

^ this. I still own a GNexus, skipped n4/n5 for a n6 (to be honest, 6 was not meant as "6 inch display" but as n5 successor)
I think I will get a One Plus Two (?) or something like that
Willing? Yes
Able? HAH!
not really
Paying that much for a device, which decreases in price pretty quickly is like buying a new car: if you really like it and you won't get buyers remorse, feel free. Not for me, though.
The price is a bit high.
What I really don't like about the Nexus 6 is the long hole below, it looks too much like a Moto and it just doesn't look good with it.
Price in Norway is $865 for the 32GB version.
Hopefully the price will go down a bit when it's available in the Play store and other stores here.
