Best physical android keyboard? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm looking for an android keyboard that is compact and would allow me to send texts and also have shortcuts for my favorite apps. Not sure if those are possible but I currently have a bluetooth keyboard, and while it does work when typing, I cannot figure out how to hit "Enter" on the stock text app to send it.

did you try shift enter?

Smileys on the diamond

Hi!
I have installed SmileySMS on the phone but it doesnt work that satisfying. The only thing that happens is that my messages comes with some random smileys now but I have no control of which ones I can use myself when I sent an sms. What program or addon do you guys use for this to work like on a normal mobile-phone? I want to be able to choose frome the smileys that exist.
You could try using "TouchPal" (google it) a great sip with a slide out smiley page, or you could try "Vito SMS", not used the Vito SMS myself, never felt the need for it,but I do believe it has a smiley option.
Thanks! It worked perfectly

Different keyboards for different apps?

I like to text using the standard phone or blackberry layout and I find them easier and quicker.
However, when I type web addresses or info into Opera, I like to use the HTC Qwerty keyboard as I don't need to worry about the predictive text not knowing the URL's etc.
Can I set the phone to somehow give me Qwerty on Opera and Blackberry for Texting... instead of me having to flick back and forth?

DialPad when making new SMS

Hi,
When i was on Fr19 i thought it was a bug, that when i make a new sms, and whatn to enter phone number that is not in the book, i have to use that stupid qwerty keyboard :S Now that i moved to new GB Rom, i still have this issue, either stock app or other marjet app as Go SmS pro.
I know i can choose in layout but i want it to be by default as Dialpad when entering a phone number
Anyone have a tip or hack to do this ?
thanks
You can use the default LG keyboard, or touchpal or any 12-key phonepad.
thanks for reply but did you understood my question ?
When i go into New SMS and want to type a number i get a normal qwerty keyboard, it is annoying to type numbers on it. What i want is a normal Phone numeric dialpad, which is more logic to automatically have when typing a phone number.
I am using the default LG keyboard.
I can do it by changing the Layout input of keyboard, but that problem is than it stay like this and for text i have to again change the layout to get qwerty keyboard,
You can understand it is quite annoying :S
Is this a normal behiviour ? or it ie me who is having an issue ?

It's quite normal. The reason is simple: The input field can be used *either* for inputting a phone number *or* for quickly searching your contacts. Searching your contacts requires letters, therefore the default keyboard is alpha-numeric. Unless you use another messaging app which allows you to input phone-numbers *only*, it will remain this way.
I can understand that we need to search so the keyboard is Standard Qwerty that show up when yoy first click
But what is not logic is when i press 123 it should understand that i dont want to search by name but type the number so it should show the Dialpad, that is how it works in iphone
So in Andriod it is normal and standard to have always qwerty keyboard :s I am surprised no one else has complained, may you guys only send SMS to your contact list lolzzz

Well, if Apple has that functionality, you can bet they've patented it as well, barring anyone else from using it.
Myself I cannot come up with any reason for SMSing anyone not in my contact list, but I'm sure you can.
Anyway, for now, that's the way it is on Android. (But I'm sure you can find another messaging app which will do what you want, until the patent-trolls notice.)
Hey mate,
Don't remember if on stock it's this way, but i'm on miui and I can enter Phone app(Dialer), dial a number with the number pad and then select "Send Message" so the sms app directly puts that phone on the message receiver...
Hope that works to u!!!
That can do a trick. I never used the dialer to send sms but thanks for the tip
No it is not dependent of what sms app you use all give same result as it is core feature of android.
Only way i found is to use another keyboard swiftkey which 123 is in Matrix format so more like a dialer but smaller
But i really hope someone can make a mod hack to show dialpad it will be handy and more logic

Or perhaps the ?123 key doesn't send us into a blind panic?
Lol
I buy a lot from site like kijiji. So i send a lot of sms to numbers which are not in contact list
Anyway having Dialpad when pressing 123 is more logic. Either in phone feild we want to type a name or a number

[Q] Keyboard with full line highlighting and Google voice?

Can anyone help me to find a keyboard which supports both full line selection when highlighting and also uses Google voice recogniser? Let me explain:
My preferred keyboard is "Swype" because it's the only keyboard I've ever been able to find on which, when highlighting/selecting text, it's possible to select full lines (up and down arrows) as well as character by character (left and right arrows).
However, because Swype is the Note's native keyboard, it defaults to Samsung's Vlingo voice recogniser and won't let me choose and use Google's.
Thus what I'm looking for is a an alternative keyboard which supports selecting text by line, not just character (which I've so far never managed to find), and also uses Google voice recogniser.
Can anyone help at all?
Thanks.

[Q] [SMS] Enter sends messages, not creates new line

So I'm running Slim Bean 4.2.2
In the SMS app with Swiftkey 4, when I hit the enter key it sends messages rather than creating a new line. If I use the AOSP keyboard and press enter it ends a new line, but Swiftkey it keeps sending. I would much prefer it if the keyboard entered a new line rather than sending, when I hit enter.
I was running Slim Bean 4.1.2 only a week ago with swiftkey 3 and did not have this problem, so I think it's possible to fix this.
I have gone through all the settings in the SMS app and in the Swiftkey app, and there is no option to set the enter key to new line.
I have googled several different search phrases to try and fix my problem but unfortunately nothing productive comes up. Some help please?
