I'm on rocket Rom reloaded
My phone has become slow over time and I would like to factory reset it . I tried doing all the wipes but the data from the apps still remains on my internal memory.
How do I completely wipe my phone??
Just format your data in cwm. If it doesn't work, maybe you have a broken cwm.

I had this a lot and gave up wiping internal from recovery, it never worked properly. Never asked if anyone else had successfully done it. I just mount the internal to PC, select all and delete, easiest way to ensure properly wiped.

I've recently flashed a new rom (rocket rom v10). Did a full wipe before that, so I used titanium backup to restore apps and data. But I recently found out that every time I reboot, I lose settings/data. For example, my user dictionary gets wiped. I also use power strip, and my configuration for that also disappears. I've tried reinstalling that app but that didn't fix it so I know its not that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried wiping cache as well? And starting from 0? And then move something and then restart again and then see if that fixed it. If it does then restore. And if it keeps resetting after that then something is corrupted.

I've had my sgs for almost 1 year , and except for rooting it i didnt rly fiddle with it .
On new years eve night i noticed my phone was closed, and when i tried to open it , it started going in this endless restart loop where it would show me the Galaxy S gt-i9000 start up screen and then restart.I pulled out the battery and the problem got fixed, but now it's happening again and it seems i cant fix it.
I read on the forums that this might indicate an internal sd card failure, and if thats the case is there any way of getting my data back?
Power the phone down then push the on button.
Then hold down the home key, the on key, and the left key in the down position and it will give you a fresh boot and upload the original settings.......
You will lose all your pics and numbers etc so I hope you have it backed up..

that will get you in the download mode...
If you are indeed rooted a last resort can be downloading the 2.3.5 stock rom from Sam mobile.. Put your phone into download mode as that guy said, there are lots of tutorials about this online then use odin to flash. As I say this is a last resort if nothing else works.

Use 3 button combo to recovery (Volume up + Home + Power) and do a factory reset and wipe cache. You will see them from the menu. You will not going to lose your personal data. You will just have to install the apps again.
At first don't make factory reset. Try first to wipe Cache, dalvik Cache and fix permissions (all from the recovery). If it doesn't help try flash new Rom (no wipe) or make factory reset. If this don't help either try flashing a 3 file Rom with pit and repartition.

Doing a factory reset won't wipe your pics and all.. it'll just wipe the 2GB partition that is used for rom and apps.. your pics are stored on the separate 6GB/14GB partition and that is not affected when you do a factory reset.. all your contacts, messages and applications etc will be wiped though..

If you have gone into recovery and cleared cache, dalvik cache and fixed permissions, then the only option available now is to factory reset in recovery. You will NOT lose any pictures or music on your sd card. You will however, lose your installed apps, their data, your phone numbers and messages. Hopefully you have your numbers backed up with google or at least stored on your sim.
If this doesn't work, you will need to flash a new rom with odin. It's a 5 minute job once you've downloaded everything required.

Did as you said and its still not working, because i still have my waranty il take it to the " pros" instead of flasing a new rom.
Only way is to flash a fresh stock rom via Odin since factory reset wouldn't work for you.

Mate, all they will do (all they CAN do) is flash a new rom........ But, whatever - it's your phone and time.
Aside from my revo being rooted with cwm installed, it's pretty much stock. Lately it's been lagging and hanging more frequently. I want to stick with the stock rom and i've been thinking about a factory reset. What happens to root and cwm if i do? Does root stick? Do i siimply just reinstall it?
Nothing will happen when you press the power button confirming.. you just boot into CWM.
I've done it twice CWM and root both will stay make sure you do a user data cache wipe to reset everything. I usually plug into my PC first wipe the onboard SD and external to get all files off backup anything you want to keep first, then do factory reset on phone and after it reboots should be clean. I take no responsibility if you jack your phone up though I've been lucky!!!
Sent from stock Revo with XDA app!!! Works great with a few tweaks!!!
don't do a factory reset from within settings, you'll get stuck in cwm and will have to flash the exitrecovery.zip

Thanks all. I think I understand what I should expect and look for.
I've had to use the exitrecovery.zip before so I know how that goes.

Hi
I am using ICSSGS 4.2 with DEVIL 0.72
2 days ago my phone started to get crazy. the screen truns on and off for 6-10 times every 10 minutes my battery is getting low quickly because of this.
I remember it happened exactly the same when I was on stck rom but after I flashed ICS it stopped but unfortounately it came back again.
It's sound like an app that is causing this.it's a wakelock issue
Try a factory reset from recovery.
Then install your apps one by one to check witch one is causing this.
I fixed this by uninstalling the last 3 apps i installed. then i found out which app is causing this problem.
thx but!!
Factory reset erases everything in the phone including internal sd card right????????
can I do it by uninstalling all the apps?????? or do I need to do factory reset
thanks again

uninstalling all the apps are the all most the same as WIPE your DATA
if you have root you can use titanium backup and backup all your apps and the data apps and restore them
good luck
Factory reset DO NOT WIPE sd content.neither does a hard reset.
Factory reset delete all apps and data.but system is still intact and phone boot normally
with a hard reset u wipe apps data and system,so u need to install new system from cwm or Odin
Apps and data can be backed up with titanium backup and restored also system apps.but it's not a good idea to restore system apps unless u know what u are doing.
problem solved looooool
Thx guys I started uninstalling my apps one by one and my phone stopped bieng crazy (thankx god) and I think the problem is one of these programs:
-officesuite
-documents to go
thanks again
Please flash an updated rom...

I was just wondering what is the difference between a hard reset from the recovery mode (volume up, power, and home) and a format (from wipe in ss)?
A hard reset is just that. A reset.
A wipe is a wipe.
Guess what one you will not get to boot.

Ok maybe my question is too general. See i'm very new to this whole root, rom, ss scene. I'm trying to understand something here. As I know that when you do a hard reset it will put your phone back to the factory state as when you first got the phone. Thus all the apps and everything you install on your phone will be gone. But what happens to the files from root, safestrap, busybox and such that was installed to the phone? Will those files be deleted too?
Normally... Yes they will be deleted.
But it isn't hard to re-root.

If you do a factory reset from the GUI it will do everything recovery does plus format any secure stuff off your SD card that you won't be able to use anymore after you do a reset (such as app data). Of course it can be restored with TB. If you do a wipe from the recovery menu it's faster, but you should probably manually delete that secure folder off your SD card on boot. If you start having problems or conflicts that might be why.
