Battery drain problem - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
For a long time I feel that my battery drains very fast.
I just use google chrome for about 15 minutes and my battery drains in 20%.
In addition, can you tell me what is the meaning of the numbers in the wakelock app?
Thanks.

Please?

Google services are the culprit based on those screens.
Probably location or sync

Is it possible??? :
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

Yeah, possible to the location. Mine also with the location. So I had it turned of in Apps&Sync google setting. Then i can say it did help my battery to survive few more hours.

The location services were disabled all this time.

[Q] kernel (android OS)

So I noticed quite a big drain on the battery and on gsam it says that it's mostly drained by apps, not the screen, and the top 1 culprit is this kernel thing, any ideas how to remedy it, or is that completely normal?
Edit : I am completely stock on the 1.29 update

Try using Better Battery Stats to find out what it is. If i had to guess i would say msm_hsic is it or maybe a wifi wake lock. there is no fix yet for msm_hsic.
It is intact this process, thanks, do you know if custom kernels/roms have this too or not?

Massive battery drain after JB update.

Hi,
I was so satisfied with how good battery lasts till JB update came. Before that I would rarely charge before night but now I have to do it every night I am sort of light to average user. My main concern brought this stats you can see screen shot where android system uses most of the battery. What is going onhhere? I have a few apps that using but not much changed in my habits. I am with 3UK

Did you do a full wipe after the update?
Yes I did. All from the scratch. I just red that one htc one owner had similar issue and his fast boot option was off he enabled it and things got way better. so was mine off just enabled it.
Why is everyone so surprised at Android System being at the top of the new battery stats?
It makes sense really. If you don't use your phone a lot, and nothing else is running taking up power, the system is going to be at the top...
As far as an actual drop in battery life, I'd download GSM battery monitor or Better Battery Stats and check for wakelocks.

Yeah I agree, especially if you reset your battery monitoring often, it can be highly confusing and misleading to read battery usage stats. I use Du Battery Monitor which I've been happy with.
I have wakelock detector installed. And also noticed android system wakelocks on cpu wakelocks are high on the high. Higher than anything else. And this happend in the first half an hour I am on the phone. First screenshot is cpu wakelock and second is wakelock triggers.
What would you guys advice to monitor for battery usage : over what time period and what to pay attention most. My wake lock detector is on now and I will do more screenshots tonight.

Well at least your phone is going into deep sleep and doesn't look like any rogue app. You may want to Greenify facebook though.
Also look here for a battery "calibration", some say it worked for them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43579577&postcount=36105
And don't forget you need to let your battery "settle" which takes a couple of days.

How would you advice to tackle FB. It looks FB is persistent though on battery guru it's set to refresh it self ,,only when you open it,,
I will do factory reset again and then battery calibration later.

So here are new stats from last day. I have concern over qualcom wake locks. Wonder if this might cause battery drain. Screenshots attached. What are your thoughts guys? Thanks

Why are there 3 battery guru icons in your bar? When I used it there was only 1. I got rid of it though after doing a custom ROM. Had no use for it.

Third one appears when low battery for extra savings. Second one I don't have a clue now. I normally have two icons.

Are your network location services on or off? If they are on, try turning them all off (as well as any Google Now network location service stuff). I found that sometimes the Google services updated badly and went into a situation where the battery would drain rapidly due to constant wakelocks.

So here are new stats. Fresh reset from scratch power save mode on. What do you think guys if there is more to be desired?

I...don't think 16 hours is terrible considering that you seem to have been doing some Youtube and PDF-reading. The percentage on that PDF viewer seems pretty high but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Facebook is obviously the biggest culprit remaining.
I would try to use Facebook in your browser instead of the app. I'm not a heavy Facebook user and don't need the notifications. It gave me a big battery boost after deinstalling the app. Facebook is constantly syncing and tracking your location, it's very batterie unfriendly

I have thought the same today to have FB on browser rather than app. It is strange I have tweaked FB app a lot like refresh only 4 hours, no notifications left on but app still awakening mad. Now only FB bothers me other apps behave well and I get pretty good battery consumption.

I am using ARHD 21.0 and it's got 4.3 in it. Android system reports it's taking up like 50 Percent of my battery but I still get more time out of my phone than I did when I was on 4.2.2.

Sudden battery drain.

I am experiencing heavy battery drain on my HTC ONE stock 4.2.2.
Android system currently taking up most of the battery. Is this normal? Using battery doctor now is making it last.
Have put a usage picture below. Before I installed battery doctor I was losing 10% battery an hour!. Tried disabling location services no change and have noticed that my WiFi wasn't going to sleep ever.
Any ideas

Yes, I think it is pretty normal unless you find that your battery drains too fast. Let's say you have an app like Reddit sync taking 70% and android system taking 20%, than you'd say that Reddit sync is draining your battery. But if nothing else drains your battery, then it has to be android system that uses the energy coming out of your battery. Afterall, your phone is On and thus, the system needs to fonction to keep it going. Thus, I would say that optimizing your phone so as to have Android system using as much as possible, in percentage, would be ideal.
Fair enough, thanks

And my question is : why is my battery usage not showing anything? I got my phone already 4.3 and if this problem wasnt there in 4.1.2 i think ill downgrade it

For the drain you can monitor which program keep your CPU wake with wakelock detector.
And what about the usagr details error?

don't think theres anything wrong with your phone. The usage screen shows two things: app usage and other usage, afaik the app usage only shows how much of the battery is used by different apps (android system, viber, youtube, etc) and other usage shows usage related to network, and since youre in airplane mode, it doesnt have anything to show under that category.
Try using a couple of other apps, such as youtube or music for 15 minutes, im sure theyll show up under the app usage after that. And also take your phone off airplane mode, and im pretty sure after a couple of hours the other usage category will have things such as "phone idle" or "cell standby"
