Hi!
Just got my hands on a Xperia Z1 and I am very impressed with it!
I've always had android phones and I'm used to the OS etc, however I'm having problems with my contacts not being synced to their Facebook accounts, specifically the pictures.
Previously the pictures automatically synced with each contact, so I get a nice picture on my contact list and messages, however this isnt the case now! I've synced with FB and had no success at all, so i'm wondering if there is a simple fix for this that I'm not doing?
Apologies if this is a subject that is getting repeated!
Thanks in advance! :good:
What FB-sync did you use? Facebook's own app or Sony's Xperia with Facebook account functionality?
The latter allows you for syncing the photos of your contacts, while Facebook's own application doesn't. Just go to the accounts and add a "Xperia with Facebook"-account.

So when I started using my phone I was thrilled that it took my gmail contacts and the pictures I had linked to said contacts, automatically into my phone. Especially because with the picasa face finding feature, that can then automatically add pictures to your gmail contacts, it just worked very easily.
However, I recently started using twitter and for some reason the phone decided to replace a lot of my contacts pictures with their twitter pictures, which in some cases is just the default blank twitter profile egg thing. This is very annoying and I can't seem to get it to go back to the gmail image, even if I'm not displaying twitter accounts in my contacts list.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried turning off the sync contacts setting in your Twitter account and resyncing your gmail one?

Hi,
i store my contacts at my google acc. But i feel like i miss everything if i dont get the newest facebook profile pictures of my contacts straight to my phone asap !
The Problem is, i came with an fresh new phone, link my google account and want to synch. (google contacts because i think its the best way, **** yea google!) Until now its fine, but as soon as i link my fb profile too, my phonebook is exploding. now i get the latest pictures and adresses etc, but they do not merge with the contacts from google. At least not automatically.
Now i have the contact with this old, ****ty, not so glamourous picture but with the up-to-date phone numbre and the same contact with the wanted, new photo, but without any numbre, because facebook is read only.. wierd. help!
I am considering buying Galaxy Note, but there is one issue I haven't been able to clear so far:
How compatible are the GN calendar (s-planner), memo (s-memo) and contacts with Outlook and Google calendar? Can I synchronize between GN and Outlook calendar and contacts? Are the s-memo notes transferred to PC and if so, can they be exported to any other format (Outlook memo? MS Onenote? Evernote? ASCII text? Graphics?)
I have already had Palm PDAs (with the Palm Desktop on PC), then WinMobile devices (with Outlook) and got quite used to the comfort of being able to view and edit contacts, schedules and memos on both PC and the mobile device. If GN doesn't allow this, this would be a serious downside for me.
Everything is synced with Google. If your Outlook syncs with google then it shouldnt be a problem with the calander and contacts. You can add s-memos to calander events, but if you dont do that, then you have to manually sync s-memo things to Google Docs. But other than that its completely autonomous. There are also a lot of apps that do what you want. I would recommend buying a Note.
syncs fine with hotmail, exchange, google and facebook.
I initially had an odd scenario where hotmail gained some facebook calendar events (birthdays) but that seems to have resolved itself.
Thank you for the answer.
It has been written somewhere that the latest version of S-Memo can also synchronize with Evernote. Can anyone confirm that? And if so, does it just send the content as an image or does it retain some more formatting (text? www links? etc.)

sync works with evernote but it send the notes as images.
I am a sync-o-phile (oo-er, sounds a bit rude), always have been.
I now have my calendar and contacts synced with Google & Outlook using and App called Sync2 from www.sync2.com. It seems to work fine, although can fail when outlook is closed and it is still alive (I close Outlook to sleep my PC or Outlook can crash). I sync it and several other web calendars at the same time.
I also have my Outlook to do list sync to ToodleDo, and then to Due Today both on my PC and my phone. It uses Outlook categories as Project names, which is neat. I have not tried linking with the Notes To Do list as this seems peculiar to the Note, and I want a more general solution.
I like that Google/Samsung now seems to carry over Outlook categories for contacts in the Note. That means I can use them properly.
I use Evernote to sync all my notes as it is far more powerful than the Google notes thing, and more generic. I also love the ability to open a file, edit it, and save again, and it updates the note.
I use Basecamp on my PC, phone, and the web for managing projects and collaborating with customers.
For files I use SugarSync, and it syncs with up to 3 devices, up to 2GB for free, and I typically just ignore it an expect my files to be wherever I am.
Odd thing is that I have noticed several contacts getting images from other sources I never asked to look up. I presume Facebook. This is bloody annoying. Does anyone know how to stop it?

This is quite possible. I have also noticed the same behaviour on my WinMobile phone (HTC Touch Pro2), so it is not directly an Android related issue. And yes, the images for my contacts that appeared suddenly without my consent, are the same as their Facebook profile images.
Got a Note!
You've managed to give me the information I needed and finally I bought a Note!
So far I have been able to confirm:
Synchronizing Smemo with Google Docs - works great, text remains text, while images are embeded in the document
Exporting contacts from Outlook to KIES worked "sort of", while exporting to Gmail and back to Note worked great. I have managed to retain all the information and even code page (I used ASCII, not Unicode) worked as expected.
Exporting calendar from Outlook to Gmail and back to Note worked almost perfectly (apart from some inconsistencies which were due to duplicate entries in Outlook)
As for contact photos, it seems that only those which originate from Facebook are added to contact data.

I got all my contact photos from way back, and those must have come through from Outlook -> Google -> Note as Outlook is the only constant source since I was first able to do this (with my Sony Clie)
Perhaps in my case Outlook photos would also have been added through Google, but I exported/imported them via a .csv file, which didn't retain photos, only text data.
My outlook contact photos sync perfectly.

Hi folks,
I've just noticed that my contacts are being uptdated (randomly) with Facebook photo profile of it respective contacts.
The awkward thing is that I don't have any "photo sync" app installed in my phone.
How Google Contacts are taking this profile pictures?
I've searched similar threads about this without success.
Thanks in advance. :good:
It's possible that Facebook has done something that actually allows syncing properly, like using the new API's in Android. Who knows though, Moto mentions on their site that it doesn't work stock, and you have to use a 3rd party app to sync it. Only thing I could guess is that the Facebook app has gained API support for contacts and linking. Dig into your Accounts on settings, and see if your FB account lists sync contacts as on.

I forgot to mention that I've deactivated FB sync in my phone. That's why I'm wondering.
Maybe it's a new API that is syncing the photos, but why just some contacts?
Yesterday was just one, and now it has been updated 2 more contacts. And again, randomly.
Google+ maybe?

That probably explains it. Most of the pictures are FB or LinkedIn. What a fail. It works properly on my Moto X.

Solution found, with a bonus. I deleted the "Xperia with Facebook" sync plug-in, and turned off contact sync inside FB. I then downloaded two apps from the Play Store I've used before - Uber Sync and Facebook Calendar Sync. These both work perfectly. Uber Sync has the added bonus of high-res FB contact pictures (the built in FB contact sync is low res). Caller ID now pics up the high res photos when I receive a call.
Thank you!

Thanks, I was searching for a solution about these low-res profil pictures :good:
Where do you delete "Xperia with Facebook" sync plug-in though?

It's in the Accounts section in Settings, *if* you already set it up.

For those, who still looking for solution - after phone update to 23.0.1.A.5.77 facebook photos shown as caller id picture by default, without any tricks or 3rd party apps
Sorry for waking up the old thread, but this issue came back (at least to me) again, after the upgrade to 23.1.A.0.726. Anybody else facing this issue? Ideas?
I recommend Sync.Me app for Facebook / Linkedin contact photo sync :good:
Thanks, but i prefer the original solution, without 3rd party programs...
