So far I've changed a handful of apps and all seems well.
I got a little ambitious though and was going to try and shrink the status bar a bit.
If I remember correctly (been using PA for a while), in the past all that required was changing the DPI for Android System and System UI.
However, doing this leaves me with a gap under the status bar and changing the DPI of Android System seems to affect all the apps...and royally screw up the Samsung keyboard. It works, but the graphics are massively stretched so you have to guess where the keys should be.
Changed these particular settings aren't a huge deal, was just curious if anyone else has had more success, or if I'm just doing something stupid

I'm wondering about the same thing. I have not touched anything with the status bar but would really like to shrink the ridiculously large font. I have changed DPI on a number of apps and no issues so far.
I've never messed with this but I'd love to get rid of the huge font everywhere. Haha

I changed mine to extra small
I also use apex launcher and changed all the icon sizes to 85% and increased all the rows/columns +1
this made it seem as if it is a better dpi but without hardcore modding of the individual dpi's

I'm just doing individual apps for now as well. 400 DPI seems to be the sweet spot for my eyes.
I changed my whole system to 320 dpi for play store compatability. Whatever dpi ya set make sure to set the tw apps to 480 so they arent screwed up. These include calculator, phone, contacts, camera, email, photo editor, tw home & tw easy home. Ive noticed the keyboard is finally multi dpi and its working just fine for me on 320 dpi. Oh by the way i used rom toolbox to switch my overall dpi & set my per app settings BEFORE changing dpi to prevent any fc's lemme know if ya need any help

Biggest thing is to make sure ya set the specific apps first haha. I set the whole thing once first and it was a big mess! With setting the apps I specified, the only weird thing i saw was if you go to task manager the top bar is off centered. You can still see everything but theres black space to the right. Other then that everything is just about perfect

Does running the dpi at 350 or 400 cause any issues with the play store? I don't have Xposed installed but I was thinking of using rom toolbox to set it at 350 or 400.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk 4
It may cause some apps not to show up in the app store because its an unrecognized dpi. Theres a module for xposed that restores app store compatability though I believe

Yeah the clock/weather screen that appears when the s-view cover in closed within the plastic window. Unfortunately I thought it might be tied to system UI which sucks.

Is your phone and contacts working properly? I did the Rom Toolbox as well and set it to 360. I used Xposed to set the DPI to 480 for Contacts and Phone. The initial dialer looks correct. However, after the call connects, the dialer is in the middle of the screen instead of being down the bottom like how it is before the call. Did you run into this issue?

Looks like mine is working now after switching launchers. So the culprit is in the settings of the old launcher and has nothing to do with build.prop DPI. This is good news :good:

While we're on the topic of modifying the look and feel of the phone, can anyone tell me where in settings I need to go to turn off the Weather/Calendar widget on the lock screen? I can't seem to find it anywhere in either settings or calendar app.

I know some people were requesting for the I9000 Honeycomb theme(s) to be ported over to Captivate. For those of you who were doing so, try flashing this theme with CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958788. I am currently running FireFly 2.2, and haven't had any issues. The developer however did recommend deleting bootanimation.zip as it would sometimes cause a loop. I did so, then replaced it with a custom bootanimation. The screenshots in the original thread show LauncherPro being used. I however prefer ADW launcher, and it works flawlessly with the theme/ROM. Obviously its not exactly like the real Honeycomb, but it looks and feels awesome. Flash at your own risk. Take a look below.
EDIT: screenshots didnt work. see attached below...
Two more screens...
do u think it would work with cognition too? theyre based off the same rom rt?
I also flashed it to FF2.2. No issues. Looks nice!

I honestly could not tell you...I dont know much about the differences. I just flashed to stock, flashed FF, then flashed the theme on top. Had my fingers crossed the whole time....
Hopefully someone else here can indulge.

Guess not. But I do remember seeing somewhere on these forums a Honeycomb theme based off of Rogers 2.2. If I find it I give you the link...

Yes you can as long as it is Cognition 3 you are talking about (any version of 3 so 3.1, 3.2, etc.). NANDROID before though in case it doesn't
What Calendar widget is that?
Good to hear its working. I will give this a shot. I was trying to cobble one together but its lacking polish since Im just replacing images and swapping XML files...lol.
I tried the other day but I think there had been too many theme flashes and something went wrong, so I had to go back to fresh sweet FF2.2

If u have root u can try changing the changing the dpi of the screen
LCD Resolution (Root) / Rom toolbox
but u need to use a diff launcher.. doesnt seem to work good with TW
I want to change the font size in every app, i m not rooted and i am back from root, so on stock if there is a way to reduce the size
yes reducing the DPI will reduce the fontsize and app icons as well
Or as shiv said, just adjust it in settings, there's an option for tiny, small large or extra large, works across the whole ui.

Launchers like ADW and others allow you to specify the number of columns and rows to display. I use ADW, but maybe Nova or Apex do this.

No. Everything works normally. Think of launchers as highly-customizable window dressing. They don't affect application functioning and they are not custom ROMs.

Changing icons individually or as a pack, multiple docks, transition effects, size of icons can be changed, swipe action for individual icons, folders can be changed, several add ons suchs as unread counts, now comes the final question - did you use the pay or the free version. A lot of the really cool stuff is only available in a paid version and trust me it is lightning fast compared to touchwiz.
I'm using nova prime. I'm still learning, this is the first time I've ever used anything other than what was baked into whatever Rom I was using. OP you may want to try "Go Launcher EX" its more user friendly in my opinion. I love it because the them options and whatnot with it are endless.
I seriously love Nova launcher it's always been my go to and I've tried quite a few. I wish it was possible to pin action memos as a widget though. It's not enough to get me to stop using Nova, but damn that would be perfect if it was possible.
So, a little while ago I deleted the systemui.apk. and started using apps such as pie pro and tiny apps for basic usage of the phone. I don't know why, but I hate the status bar and constantly on screen navbar, deleting systemui.apk gets rid of both in lollipop, while still preserving the use of the keyboard. This could be done on 4.4 using xposed framework, but as we all probably know. It's not functioning for lollipop yet, or at least three hasn't been a replacement.
My question is, is there a better way to achieve no status bar, no navbar, and fully functioning keyboard. Without getting rid of systemui and everything else it does?
So far everything I've noticed missing, that can't be fixed by tasker, pie pro, moto display, or tiny apps: no screen shots, no recent app draw, notifications don't make sound, and reddit is fun won't open for whatever reason.

I know on KitKat you can edit the build.prop to get rid of the navbar but I'm not sure if you can still on Lollipop. I'm not a fan of Lollipop so both my Android phones are staying on KitKat. On KitKat, you can either edit or add the line " qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" to get rid of the navbar ( qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 would add it for phones with hardware buttons) but again I'm not sure if that works on Lollipop. Also, this is just for the navbar and has no effect on the status bar. If you are going to try it, make sure to do a nandroid and also make a backup of your unedited build.prop. Proceed with caution, I'm not responsible if anything bad happens.
