So what the difference for rooted sp and not rooted any boost's better battery etc ?
Rooting does nothing itself, but it means you can apply tweaks, install apps, install roms and mods which may help with issues you have with the device. If you have poor WiFi the publicised tweak to improve this is worth gaining root for.

I also have a poor wifi range but that is not worth rooting to me. Also due to the fact it can cause the offline charging bug (which also can be fixed again but still)
If you don't know the difference, you don't need root.

- Just - rooting doesn't affect anything. Nothing. At all.
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk 2
Rooting an Android device does not affect its performance. YOU do it by installing apps, tweaks, "upgrades" and other things...by itself, root does nothing.
Without root you miss some great apps like:
-WiFiKill
-Xposed framework
-AdFree
-Link2SD
-Root explorer
-Cerberus
-WiFi Pass recovery
And the ability to remove useless apps or install newer ones.
Rooting isnt sth that hard that doesnt worth... Besides that it doesnt cause any problem 4 your device as far as I know... :good: ...
Task managers which can help battery life (by killing minimized(!) apps) run just on rooted devices...

Hi, if anyone could help me it'd be much appreciated i have tried two different roms running the new 4.3 sony firmware but in both cases my phone seems to stay awake with android os being at the top of the battery drain list. for some reason or the other i is not allowing the phone to sleep, i believe it may be kernel related but am unsure. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and does anyone know of a way to fix this. any help would be much appreciated
Current rom - existense Z V5 (with the same issue)

Thank you for your quick response but that won't fix it as as far as I know I'm the only one having this problem on a freshly flashed fw with not even my Google account set up
I'm having the same problem.
At the moment it's on 57% of resources used. While the one below is only at 14%.
It's not all the time though... Some days it uses this much and other days it's just normal

Personally I would like to see something similar to what BetteryBatteryStats or Wakelock Detector show. On the main screen show Google Services, but when we click it for more information it would be nice to see a breakdown of exactly what service within Google Services is using up the CPU, battery, etc ,not only u have this issue even ur using google apps or not its still working on background .so, i disabled "Google Play Services", cleared the cache of all Google Related Apps, also Uninstalled All Google Related Apps, and it seems to solve the issue...:fingers-crossed:
Fasbook and Chrome drains the battery also really much. Delete all share apks and social engines with Titanium Backup or a root browser. Before I deleted some apks I don't had more than 3.5 hours Screen on time. Now every time 4+ hours. Once up to 5.5 hours.
Bloatware drains the Battery really much.
And yeah mtayabkk is right, Greenify some apps.

see i think that may be why im using a c6602 so
I have a similar problem, still trying to figure out what's causing it.
Conclusion
Ok guys ive drawn to a conclusion that the c6603 ftf file just does not go well with the c6602 model, maybe because of the radio of the c6603 model using LTE. But im not sure so if anyone with a c6602 phone wants 4.3 without battery drain youll just have to wait till sony releases it and someone makes an ftf of it
Never mind guys I reset back to 4.2.2 with ftf factory reset there flashed existence z then the stripped.ftf and now I seem to be getting no problem anyway thanks for all the suggestions
I'm corrently on contract with my Z1, and I want to know from you guy's if it is worth it for me to root the phone, I'm only looking for overall a better performance on the phone, and to use GLTools so I can enable certain settings and hacking in games.

From my point of view a phone without root is like a sports car with locked doors . Now , from my knowledge and experience you can unroot a device by flashing (easy) the stock rom. When i updated (for example) from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 it went to my default rom with no root . The ideea is that i like the customization , it is easy to root so yeah it is worth it (from my point of view) .
The thing is that if you crash it and cannot unroot the device you cannot take it to repair , only if you pay for it .
I have not unlocked the bootloader because i find it risky for a noob like me but rooting is very easy (actually 2 clicks away) and with Xposed Framework you get the customization with little to no risk !
So for me root gets :good:
Here is what i used to root my Z1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
Before update to kitkat, I never had this problem.
But since updated I face the problem that when I press home the launcher keep restating, like a famous issue that happen to Galaxy S3
The cause of this is RAM is run out of space. I tried limit numbers of apps but it is still happening. Factory reset isn't work either.
Has anyone faces this problem too ? and is there anyway to fix this ?
Flashtool and make a fresh install, but be sure to save all your data on Pc, or make a backup with recovery
Already done that. Still the same.
Have you flash your specific model baseband, with a official rom?
Can you post more info about your phone model, baseband, bootloader, etc?
Im experiencing the same problem all the time... I just taught it was because i have tons of root stuff and Xposed modules and such... I havent done reset due im waiting for Lollipop, but yeah good that im not the only one !
Facing same problem and feels like that since installing a lot of stuff, and perhaps exposed too

It's a very usual behaviour from Android, because LMK too high or you use too much RAM for Foreground Apps.
To fix that, you have 2 ways:
1. Change OOM Priority via service.jar or change LMK
or
2. Using Xposed Framework, install App Settings and choose Home and tick Resident, save
Hope it's help you

Done, seems ok now, ill report if it starts restarting again !
I'll give his a try too, looks good
has been working for over a week now ! thank you !
Are there any bad side effects, of using xposed app settings module to keep these things resident in ram?

Yeah, if your home crashed you will always have a blank screen, you must force close it or replace to another launcher app or deactive Xposed Framework
Is it only me or something wrong with LP? After upgrading to LP 5.0.2 (using Flashtool), System UI (or Launcher, or something else, I'm not pretty sure) just keeps auto-restarting after a while. The screen just becomes blank, moment later application icons show up. Applications seem to be reloaded (e.g. keyboard is loading for a moment before it shows up). It was working pretty nice before (KK).
Any help?
For the record, I'm using C6903 14.5.A.0.270 CE rooted, locked BL, odexed (original stock downloaded using XperiFirm). Also got xposed 3.0 alpha4 installed with following modules: Disable Desk Dock, Greenify
This is a bug on z1's lollipop
Best solution is to backup ur ta and unlock bl and install cm12.1

any help?
I have the same problem, doesnt happen on kitkat tho
Anyway, i dont expect it to be fixed, the z1 never been good at multitasking
I'm using Z1 (C6903 270 TW FTF) with del useless APP + Xposed Work fine NO issue
Because of high lowmemorykiller value, launcher and UI will restart frequently. You can try to flash init.d tweaks to adjust your lowmemorykiller value, and it will solve your problem.
Hi,
I suggest you trying at least a custom launcher with Lock In Memory feature. I was facing this issue and it was really becoming annoying, then I installed Xposed Module to do a small fix on Lollipop Memory leak (if you don't mind rooting it's a great option). And installed NOVA Launcher with hat feature.
All the best,

I'd love to try this, but any recommendation about lowmemorykiller value?

So u mean the xposed lollipop memory leak fix could solve the problem? but i heard that Z1 Lollipop stock already included this fix? mine already rooted and got xposed installed so I won't mind getting that fix if it solves my problem.

You're lucky then
@boydzethuong
1. For LMK> use 3C Toolbox from Play Store, set Android OOM at aggresive mode and enable set on boot (not init.d).
2. For launcher> use App Settings Beta, search it @ app Settings thread, used for Lollipo, not L 5.1.1
Enable resident for your current launcher and reboot.
memory leak has been fixed in 5.1. I'd wait it out til 5.1 is rolling out on the z1. can't take that much lunger 'til then. couple of weeks max (i hope)

OK, so to summarize, just like u guys I am having trouble with memory leak, which people said a fix had already been included in sony stocks BUT it didn't really fix the issue at all. correct? Then i'd go with: wait for 5.1
For those who are using xposed, yesterday I was about trying to uninstall xposed to see if I had any luck getting rid of the issue. However, I found a new version (v70) so I decided to flash it first then clear davik-cahce... and you know what... it seems to be working normally now. No lowmemorykill so far (yet?). Will pay a few more days see if it somehow solves the issue. You might wanna give it a try.
Cheers
