[Q] Lapdock ROM Overscan Stuff - Motorola Atrix HD

Hello all, I am new to typing here but not reading. Most of my android knowledge has been acquired through XDA via searches but I have not found a concrete solution to my issue at hand and would like some help. I picked up an Atrix HD on craigslist basically because I always wanted one. I had the Atrix 4g which crapped out and I still have a nearly new lapdock. I switched the plugs around and plugged in the AHD and get horrible black bars. As I have read they did away with the overscan feature in settings so I am looking for an alternative. I would even be ok with downgrading to ICS if that's the only option. Preferably I was hoping someone knew of a ROM that came with overscan or if there was a way to add overscan back to the settings menu...or something. Oh, and the AHD is on stock 4.1.1 rooted. Thanks much.

According to skeevydude, the lapdock works on ICS only.

That seems to be what I've been reading. Now I just need to find a still living ICS Rom.

There isn't an ICS ROM other than some stock zips...you'd be better off flashing the fastboot -- The Bell fastboot doesn't have the tethering restrictions like the AT&T ones.

What do I need to run google body on my verizon tab?

I want this thing to run what it should be able to run. Is root even worth it on the verizon tab? Seems no one is supporting it. Everything is either wifi our gsm.

You need Honeycomb.
But there I is no honeycomb love for the verizon tab is there? And from what I have read, rooting a verizon tab is asking for trouble!

I think rooting the verizon tab is only sketchy if start messing with updates, roms, etc. I rooted mine the day I got it several months ago and loaded the voodoo plus kernel to overclock to 1.4ghz. Other than an issue that popped up with the Lookout app and finally getting the EC02 update notification to stop with a build.prop edit, it's been as close to perfect for me as I expect from a piece of tech and runs much better than those first few hours I used it prior to rooting. The main reason I wanted to root almost immediately was so I could restore my Titanium Backup apps from my Evo so I would keep all my app settings and scores.
I considered flashing one of the few VZW tab roms available or unrooting to install the EC02 update, but I figure it's better to leave good enough alone.

Is it still worth getting?

Hi i used to own a galaxy tab i had it for a few days with o2 UK sim locked and i found it was very slow and browser wasnt good apps wouldnt display full screen. With the new gingerbread update now out how is this now and is it worth it. I am about to recieve a little work bonus and im tempted to buy a tab again as im using my phone for internet.

I have none of the problems that you described, so I'd obviously say it's worth it. But no-one can tell you whether you should or shouldn't get it. Maybe shop round a bit and check out the alternatives first.
like john mentioned nobody can tell you to buy it or no
but my advice is , if you planning to buy it again , buy it GSM , unlocked to get the best out of it .
in the other side i will recommand you to buy it again as its the best tab 7inch in the market
I'm new to android,a complete noob..my 1st android and I choose galaxy tab p1000..never regret I bought it at the 1st place..I prefer it much more than the iphone4 I gave to my wife..

Like John and k0sh, I can't tell you what to buy, but having come from froyo to gingerbread (and now running overcome 3.0) made me feel like I had a new tab. More stable and responsive.
The browser issue you refer may have to do with the agent (android vs desktop). You can solve it by using a browser like dolphin hd. I believe that, on overcome, you can browse as desktop on stock browser.
Cheers

Did you already purchase SGT 7?
If not, maybe you can consider 8.9 also. Reason for me to own SGT 7 is only because it have phone ability and big screen for browse internet and portable. I'm sure 8.9 version also have phone ability but not sure either it is portable
If you got it already, id say go and get the htc flyer

[Q] I957 vs. Other 8.9 Tabs (New Owner)

Hi folks,
I just traded a Toshiba Thrive for this I957 Galaxy Tab 8.9. I am really pleased with my end of the deal, but didn't look into the development side of things before pulling the trigger. I came on this forum and read about differences in the different flavors, but can't seem to find a definitive thread. I am hoping someone can explain them to me.
Also I have no intention of using the AT&T service, with that being said is there a way to turn off the AT&T Radio? I didn't see it in my quick look through the options.
What are the best ROMS available for the I957 right now. I would prefer ICS, but I am aware that there are camera issues there. I don't require the camera as long as most of the rest of the hardware worked well.
The i957 has root, cwm, and an oc kernel. No roms other than stock right now.
The i957 is a different animal than the international or wifi versions.
The only way I know of to turn off the radio is to use flight mode, or delete the radio and phone files from the system.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I957 using XDA App
Yes no roms yet, but when ics comes out for the galaxy note and the skyrocket we will most likely get a port.

What is different about the i957? Is it somehow inferior to the others?
Different Chipset from the older devices.

Thank you for the information. Now to get cracking on Root and stuff for this thing

Could an offical JB ROM finally be on its way?

AT&T Notes get theirs tomorrow. Hopefully we get ours too/soon, maybe like the S2 did.

That's making a big assumption. T-Mobile may not even be thinking about JB for our phones. After all, they didn't sell very many of them to begin with. They may be focusing on getting updates out to their more popular phones (GSIII and Note II).
I would love to see JB from T-Mo, but i'm not holding my breath. Plus, with CM10 and Carbon ROM already at 4.2.2, it's not like we don't have decent JB options.
I would love to try a touchwiz based jb ROM though. But that means I would have to go back to stock unless ptmr wants to update his Jedi leader ROM if we even get jb... I don't see that happening though

S suite / touch wiz and wifi calling is what I miss on CM.
The closest thing I can suggest would be to flash the at&t version but use the "blaze" modem. If you do go this route make sure that the one that you flash is prerooted that way you can remove the at&t bloatware. Now you will loose the WiFi calling until someone can go through both two versions to find where the "WiFi calling" is located

Actually there are about 20k of this model in the wild. T Mobile made a deal with Samsung in order to get a jump on the Galaxy 4 they literally bought enough of this model to fill a warehouse. T Mobile then turned around and contracted their sales out to places like Costco and Wal-Mart where they are still being sold at a discounted price.

I wouldn't mind flashing the AT&T JB if it will fly - just to see what the feel is like.
I am quite dependent on WIFI calling, but I can always reflash the original and reload my apps I guess.
if anyone has already done this: if there are kinks, could you please post back?
If it does one out I would like to see what is different because from what I understand the Canada version has the pop out browser which the att version doesn't meanwhile both are missing the nav panel and multi Window

Wifi Calling is the only one I miss with CM based AvatarROM. The S Suite are just something there that I used 10% of the time. And I hated touchwiz. It makes my phone sllloooowwww and buggy. I'm loving my ROM now its fast, although not as smooth but still very stable.
I agree with that statement and I have wondered is there a way to compare the touchwiz from the att room and the touchwiz from tmobile to find the difference? I would be more than happy to wade through the code myself is someone could point me into the proper direction.....

just reading around the web, the JB release I think is inevitable. i717, s3 and s2 are out, the international version N7000 is out in some parts of the world [not all], so, its just t-mo that is slow at this point. could be any day, any hour.
then we'll all figure out what we hate about it and resume complaining....
Good point......

I'm frankly on the fence here - reading through the AT&T version group's collective notes - I dunno what the gain is with JB.
that its new? there are a number of folks that have had troubles [this is not unusual - check google for any sort of notes on 'upgrade to jelly bean'] - shorter battery life, jerky performance, hangs, lags.
I am VERY happy with the stock/rooted/debloated performance I'm getting.
we just picked up a GS3. I was set to be dazzled by its performance etc and spent hours getting it nuked to the bone, then installing, rooting, debloating. To me, its not worth the extra money compared to what I paid for the note 1. there is neglible performance difference [i'm not gaming, so take that into consideration]. side by side, any fool on earth would pick the Note's display, not just because its bigger but it looks startlingly gorgeous next to the GS3. The GS3 had a bunch of wifi connectivity issues. I don't know if I have them all squashed yet or not - jury is still out.
there's more "interference ware" on the GS3 - things that are scanning in the background to tell you all sorts of dangers are lurking. some I could uninstall safely, some not. the Note, the way I have it config'd, is 'quiet' by comparison.
battery life looks like the Note wins so far. will know better once the GS3 is finalized and real use occurs a lot.
if it were strictly my call, I'd trade the 3 for another note 1.
jellybeans or not.... i prefer beefsteak.
What about beefsteak flavored jellybeans?

Thats true but we will always have problems until they release the official JB, we all suffer from the random reboots followed by the blue screen when running these roms....Im using rooted stock, that way I know everything works instead of finding out when I need to use a feature.

Razr FTW? (for the wife)

Guys, my wife is tired of her att Atrix 4G, att really has a sucky lineup for Android phones right now.
Someone suggested a Razr I. Since its not supported by a US carrier how does it get its updates?
Is it a decent phone, unlocked of course, or Have you moved on to something else? Help me find a new phone for the wife
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 4
I'm on AT&T, and my razr I runs beautifully! Battery is by far one of the outstanding features of the device, I can easily use it for two days straight. I would only get the phone though if you're willing to root. Stock is experience is great don't get me wrong, but the roms offered on this forum are just so much better. As for updates, I haven't bothered to check in months. I'm not expecting the phone to get upgraded any further than 4.1.2, so the only updates I check now are on development section of the forum. In my opinion the only things we would really miss out on are lock screen widgets and trim support, but besides that I haven't felt that the phone needs updating.

I can't touch my wife's phone, lol. That said I'll probably unlock the bootloader and flash the stock boot logo back so she won't freak out, but keep it stock and rooted (for TiBu).
4.1.2 is cool. Her Atrix is still on GB. So picking up one of these babies from eBay won't be a bad thing to do huh? Very cool!

Sadly you'll be limited to 3G. But AT&T's network is fast enough that I don't really mind
