[Q] GMail email push - doesn't always work?

I have 3 Gmail accounts set up in my Int'l Note (with Straight Talk) and I noticed that when somebody sent me an email, most of the time Gmail doesn't not alert me and/or download the email.
I have setup "Background Date" and "Auto Sync" and this issue happen even when I am connected to a Wifi. I.e. not losing data connection via cellular connection.
I have an HTC Thunderbolt with GMail setup EXACTLY the same as my Note and it doesn't have this problem.
Anyone experiencing this issue?

Sometime you need to do this:
go to
Settings/Applications/manage applications/
find Gmail app and then click on it
and clear cache and clear data and it will work....
Sometimes my Note does that

I've noticed this too - also sometimes the inbox show 1 new message in the counter, but I can't see the message...

Ill try this tomorrow when I'll be getting barrage emails.
Kinda weird this happened on the Note but not on my other Android phone...

So far... I haven't came across a situation where my laptop alerts me for a new email but not my Note.
Now when an email comes in, both my laptop and my Note alerts me almost at the same time.

Email notifications, what info?

I have my Gear set up with my Note 3 and it seems to be working ok.
I am getting notifications through, but I cannot get into the email on the Gear to read it.
I understand that with GMail you only get basic info, but i was of the understanding that an email account set up in the stock email app, should deliver a notification and you should be able to get the text body of the email?
Has anyone else managed to get the text body?
If I try and select the email in the notifications I regularly get a error, "Sorry notifications has stopped"
Any help appreciated.

It works fine for me. Make sure you set email in the notfiications setting under settings in the Gear app. I get my gmail and hotmail accounts tru it and works perfectly. Text message, not so good, but email works like a champ.

So when you get an email notification (not Gmail) and it comes up on the Gear, you can touch it and the text of the email shows?

Yeppers, works great for me. Hope you get it going.

Like he was saying make sure you have the settings right in the gear manager app. I can read the entire email.

Hmmmm, out of interest, if you don't mind saying, what is the domain of the normal email?
I have a iCloud account set up as IMAP and a outlook.com (new Hotmail) account, and even after a reset of the Gear and Handset, and a fresh set up, the Notifications app on the Gear still regularly gives me a screen saying, "Unfortunately the Notifications have stopped"

Full message or text only works with the stock email and text apps.

We need proof of life. No one that I have read has gotten the gmail app to work.

Just discovered that the app, dynamic notifications was interfering with my notifications, everything works fine now that I disabled it. So anyone else who uses that, check that out.

I also found out that Dynamic Notifications isn't necessary any longer now that I use the Gear!

I have set gmail to sync and turn on notifications for all labels. But I'm still not getting notification when emails arrive.
Anyone else having the same issue?

Ok it actually has been working. I was testing by sending myself an email. That doesn't work very well unless I do it from another computer or phone. Cuz the sync happens so fast that the email arrives while I still have the gmail app open.

You mean in the notification center or on the app itself? Also do you have sync checked on the quick toggle settings? If you mean the app itself, then that's not happening, you'll need another launcher like Nova or Apex (I'm assuming this isn't what your talking about though).

OP said there are no notifications when emails arrive. If sync weren't enabled, the emails wouldn't even arrive, would they?

Not me. I get proper status-icon, LED, and sound notifications for new emails via gmail.
In addition to the notification settings in gmail itself, have you checked the phone's LED and Blocking Mode settings?

Same issue, with the last update I dont get the notifications on my note 2 or note 3. I wish they fix this.

Yes smart *** they would arrive when he opens the app. You would be amazed how many times is something simple like that.

make sure the setting of gmail in the app is correct. especially "Notify for every message" is on. the option is in gmail setting -> "your gmail account" -> inbox sound & vibrate

Seems to be working for me. I set gmail and google voice and both seem to work.Google voice shows the message, gmail only shows the senders name and the subject, so you cannot see the body unfortunately.

Did u check both the email and Gmail boxes on the app and in gear manager? I only checked Gmail and I am still getting regular notifications.

On the gear manager email needs to be checked, thats the base requirement. Gmail et al are optional.
In the ATN Manager you can check pretty much any app, some work well some don't and some won't work at all. I use and tested a very limited set and can only recommend experimenting with apps you want to receive notifications for and hope they work. Maybe we can start a list somewhere (please not here though) on which apps show notifications and which don't

Thank you, and awesome work! If possible, the couple of features that would be great would be setting different alerts for different apps, and location/date based alerting. I posted the first request on Github with the explanation of getting hundreds of emails a day, and wanting those alerts to still go to my Gear, but not vibrate, while having text messages and appointment reminders still vibrate. For the second request, I was thinking it would be awesome to have my corporate email alerts stop while at my office, and start back up when I leave. Also, it would be nice to have the ability to schedule alert sounds and vibrations based on time of day so that I don't have them going off while sleeping.

Be carefull..this thing screwed up my gear...i did the install, an decided to uninstaal because i got alot of emails with only numbers in it..now i keep getting the same mail as notification, and i cannot get rid of it...i have deleted it numerous times on the gear, it is deleted on my note and from my server...i even reset the gear...still i get the same notification...any help would be appreciated...

Uninstall the GearManager and reinstall it again. That should work. My app seems to send something that the NSync process doesn't like. It basically keeps the notification in the database and resends it everytime

this is awesome, now i dont have to have duplicate services running. I may sugest that in order to get the notifications that everyone is looking for for the gmail app is make sure you select Communication notifications, gmail of course lol, google services framework selected and you will get proper notifications for gmail

Yeah, seeing the same thing here. I just cleared the data for the NSync provider, hopefully that does the trick.

possible. though I think it's actually Facebook SNS that handles notifications.

Software Ver.: V700XXUAMII
Installed ATN Manager, enabled in security settings, check apps, rebooted phone and watch twice. Nothing.

You do not need to have "Communication notifications: checked. I just changed that and it worked perfectly

The icon is supposed to be the @email icon ?
Gmail and Google voice messages come in and both say "@BOB EXAMPLE or TEXT FROM BOB EXAMPLE" like EMAIL would.
I assume we turn off Gmail notifications on the default gear manager correct ?
Anyone have Instagram working ?
Lastly whats battery usage on the phone and gear like ? I assume its a drain in alpha stage just want to be prepared.

So does this or does it not show entire Gmail notifications?

Samsung Email app & Galaxy Watch

Hello guys, I have disabled the Gmail application and installed the Samsung Email because I want the dark theme.
Although the notifications don't come to my Galaxy Watch. They're enabled in the watch and the app settings.
Any clue?

was it working before you disabled gmail?
I just froze gmail using titanium. backup and sent myself an email and received it no problem. you sure the link between the watch and phone is not at fault?
try to use the find my phone watch app and see if it can communicate correctly.
I have been having issues with the the watch being in remote connection mode on my wifi. on LTE it works perfectly. and obviously on bluetooth also.

It's the first time that I try the Samsung mail application.
All the other notifications come flawlessly to the watch. Even with the Gmail enabled (and with both options enabled to receive or not the notifications) the Samsung Mail don't send the notifications to the watch.
No problem between Note's 9 and watch's communication, all the notifications arrive to the watch fine.

It's not stupid question, my bad that I didn't wrote it in first place.
Yes, all the Samsung Email notifications are on but for some they can't be pushed to the watch.
The strange thing is that's the one and only application with this issue. I have a hundred more that all work as supposed to work.
I'm thinking to reset the watch but I don't have the time to setup the 50 watchfaces I've got..

The only back up setting I can find in the Galaxy Wearable app is the auto backup which is already enabled.View attachment 4710526

just be ware rhat if you have a the LTE version, your provider might charge you for the esim pairing
