GPS slow ? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I own my Z1 now for about a week and from the beginning I feel that the GPS is working very slow on this phone. Does anybody feels the same?
When I make photos on the phone the first picture also doesn't get location tagged by itself and for example a parking app gives warning about unexact location for the first minute. What can I do for that?

Don't know, my gps is lightning fast

For lol I hope?
Interesting, mine is slower, about 3 times. Im on 4.1.2 now, not rooted. FB, Fliboard crashes all time. Screen is minimum and flickers again, battery cannot go over 4 hours. Internet speed, well cannot compare it with SGS3, meaning slower. In one word, very disapointed with this device. :banghead:

Well if gps is enabled it certainly drains battery and not opening gps makes this app useless

It may be the case the app uses the network as well as the GPS.
Sendt fra min XPERIA Z1 6903

it does not appear so. i have it activated on my Z1 which leads us to my quick weekend NYC story..... i actually use the Google Android Device Manager service on my Z1 to be able to track it and lock it and erase it.
This last weekend I was in NYC for work and was just getting to the hotel and paid my cabbie (with a nice tip too) and as i walked into the hotel felt my SW2 vibrate and realized my phone was sitting in the backseat of the cab.
Had my co-worker call it over and over with no initial luck. I realized I had just enabled Device Manager on it and went to my Google Device Manage webpage on the iPad Mini and saw the phone sitting at the Laguardia. I then rang the phone (it basically will ring constantly for five minutes) and then called it again and got a hold of the cabbie and he even said he'd drop it off at the end of his shift.
So throughout the rest of the day I watched my phone travel all over NYC from Manhattan to NJ and back to my hotel where i generously tipped the driver again in cash and smiled and thanked him graciously!
I LOVE NYC!! you all rule out there and yes.. ENABLE IT!

Download boost from S5?

Does anyone know if that would be a possible feature to port or imitate on our z1? Gotta say that is one feature that doesn't sound like a gimmick. Perhaps there is already an app that I couldn't find that already does this?

It's nothing new, an app called "Super Download" has been around since 2012 doing exactly the same. It can be found here.

This. People keep saying it's a hardware thing. No...nothing samsung does is a hardware thing. Heart rate monitor? Apps did the same thing for years. The fingerprint sensor and IR blaster is the only "hardware" thing that can't be replicated on other phones. (or have already been replicated)
Thanks!

Eh?
How does an app that pretends to scan your finger but just detects your touch come even remotely close to a real fingerprint scanner?

They don't, but some of them have a special way of touching them, kinda like a code, stupid but its as close as you get without the hardware

Its working now. Seems to be GPS related as per usual. I need to wait for the location icon in the lower right to be present and solid. Shame as it appears to be pretty weak meaning have to wait a few seconds before taking a pictures.
