You may activated your net10 sim card after Tracfone/Straighttalk/Net10 have included LTE service to the plans. New activations got the LTE provisioned, unlike me.

Yeah, I swapped the SIMs for that very reason. They've got it advertised on their site now. My old SIMs also used the old wap.tracfone APN, so now I've got stable MMS.

Apparently they now carry 4G SIM cards to allow access to their LTE network (see here). The details are a little sketchy, though, and I wouldn't bank on it working.
If you're really interested in doing this, I would suggest going directly to a Verizon store and speaking with someone there. Maybe even see if they'll let you test it out (probably not, but it can't hurt to ask).
The only other Verizon sim cards I found were international ones that allowed roaming on Vodafone's network. Since Verizon in the US uses CDMA for its non-4G network, SIM cards don't work. With a non-4G SIM card you would end up piggybacking on some other carrier's network.
That's my understanding, anyway.

That's one of the international sim cards, which basically just lets it hop on GSM networks internationally when it doesn't have Verizon's US CDMA network.
So you mean its not possible
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I can't say for certain. You would need to talk to someone at Verizon and ask them if their international GSM sim cards work here in the states.
My guess is that they'll tell you it will work, but since you would be essentially roaming all the time you're using it, it would be either costly or they wouldn't do it. Again, I'm not a Verizon employee, so I can't say that's 100% accurate, but that's my gut reaction.
Yeah ok makes sence my incredible 2 can only go into safe mode thats why I ask this

Unfortunately verizon does not like you to be able to use at&t on there global phones so afaik there's no way to make it work.
Getting my droid 3 from ebay tomorrow. Do i need a sim if im just using it in u.s.?
It isn't the question but the way its asked.
That depends on what you intend to do with it. For most users, no.
No I have my global sim card out and it does not require a 4g sim either because... well because its not 4g.

That's not a stupid question. You need a sim card to use it in the US as well.

This is a Verizon phone and Verizon has never used sim cards because they are CDMA. The sim card slot is for GSM signals in other countries, since US based GSM providers like at&t and t-mobile are blocked on this.
Thanks for the replies. It came with one....but as I found out, its not needed for U.S. operation. BTW....loving the phone(even without root).
I may be spending a long time in the UK before my 2-year contract is up (study abroad). If I leave the country for an extended period of time, will Sprint unlock my One so I can use a local SIM while I'm there?
No because that sim card isn't for gsm networks its just for the lte on sprint. The way lte works it requires a sim card to work

I thought the HTC One was the first Sprint phone where you can take out the UICC (SIM), the rest, i.e. the SGS3 and EvoLTE, have an integrated UICC. So the EvoLTE does have a SIM, its just tucked inside where you cant remove it (not without modifying the unit itself anyways).

Its internal. All Sprint LTE phones need a UICC. Check your about phone settings, your ICCID should be your UICC.

It does have a sim card in it, that is why there is a sim card punched out in the package. If you have a sim card ejecter, you would put it in the tiny hole next to the sim tray and it would eject the sim card out.

That's not 100% accurate. Before it started with its LTE upgrade, Sprint did offer some phones that had swappable SIMs.

Alright, let me fix it: the first LTE phone with a removable SIM is the HTC One.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2417502,00.asp
"This model of the One supports Sprint's 3G (CDMA 800/850/1900) and LTE (1900 only) networks, along with GSM/EDGE on 850/900/1800/1900 and HSPA 14.4 on the 1900 and 2100MHz bands. That means this phone will roam internationally at 3G speeds. In theory, you could unlock it to work poorly on AT&T's and T-Mobile's networks, but it wouldn't be able to take advantage of fast speeds on either. "
It wont work in TMobile USA. It doesnt have the 1700 band.

That information may not be correct. According to the FCC filings there is no mention of the 850/1900 GSM bands.

You just have to read the fine print. I know they do not "allow" tethering and I know they say it is unlimited web browsing not unlimited data. It works great for me as I am on Wi-Fi 90% of the time. But now when I am not I am happy to get LTE speeds.

You may also have to change settings in the *#*#4636#*#* menu to enable LTE.
It also took several hours for the LTE to show up with several reboots to see if I could force it.
I went on the st website and tried entering my serial number and my phone number. It kept saying "there is no info for that number. It could be because there is no info for this device or this number is not activated."
So I had to search google and piece together my own apn. I tried one and got lte right away with excellent speeds but no mms. I'll try yours and see if it fixes my mms because it is slightly different than mine.
Ill update as soon as I try it. Thanks for the info

My apn is not a lot different from yours, harsho1. So I decided to just change one thing at a time and see what worked. With my apn, I was testing my mms by texting my wife who has an android. She didnt get any texts. I made one little change to my apn and texted her again and it didnt work. Now my sister in law is at my house and she has an iphone. I texted her and it works fine. I guess Ill have to keep adjusting.

I just switched to straight talk when I saw they had LTE on att. I'm waiting for my last bill cycle to end on my sprint account. I have 4 months left on my contract and can't wait to call and cancel and pay them 100 bucks for cancelation. LTE is so much faster on att in my area than sprint. I'm averaging 16-20 down and on sprint only 3-5 down on LTE. I found someone selling a HTC first near me for 80 bucks so I bought it and threw in the straight talk Sim and bam.! I'm always on WiFi and only on LTE when I go out saturday nights and need nav or go on instagram and Facebook. I'm loving the 45 bucks a month and not 85 bucks for crappy service on sprint. Looking onto buying an atrix HD from a buddy for 100 bucks.

Right, the missing LTE bands shouldn't cause total loss of service.
For ATT there is 4G HSPA and 4G LTE.. not sure how the GSM varients report each. And the XT1053 does support the primary LTE band ATT uses.
Hey there,
I had the same issue. Got a XT1058 and am using it on T-Mobile. I kept loosing signal completely. Sim Card not recognized.
The problem I found is that if you are using a sim card that has been cut to fit the tray will cause signal loss issue.
Went to T-Mobile got a new sim card and been using it without a problem.
