The forum wont let me post this Q in the actual ROM forum so i am posting it here. The problem i am having is that i notice that my 30 step volume doesn't work on games or my music or anything that i can find. It will register 30 steps but each step doesn't adjust the volume. Its more like every other step does. example is listening to music if i go from mute to 1 step i get no sound. if i go to 2 steps i have sound but its the same sound as my wife's stock htc one with just 1 vol step. I don't know if this is a bug or me being somewhat of a noob. Ill appreciate any help or answers i can get. Thanks!
Which device you have ? Did you tried with the person who has same phone ?

Hi all
I am coming from the HTC sensation and I would like to gain root and be able to change the volume level via the service mode menu.
However I am having a couple of problems. When I try to apply the root file using zerg rush exploit I get an access is denied error when trying to write the required file changes. However my phone accepts the command to reboot. I followed all the steps, however I wasn't sure what option 7 meant seen there is a file in that folder already. the method I am using is on thread 1329360.
As for my second problem, I am able to access the service menu using the code. However I can't access option 5 it just loops back. When I put the code in to access the audio test I am able to get in. I am unsure what to about this as I need to challenge audio settings for my headphones as the volume is way lower than my sensation. I have tried volume plus pro and it doesn't make a difference to the audio level. Don't understand why the volume would be so low, since the specification are nearly the same as the HTC.
please can you all help me with these problems, and thanks in advance

Yes, I'm having the same problem that I can't access option 5 for Audio adjustment. Anyone as a solution?
how do i get to this service menu please
Me too!!
I have also been tryin too find out this, have been using Audioboost for SGII, too Get higher volume, but it is annoying cuz the volume goes down if you do try to do something else then listen too music..
First off all, in the newer roms the zerg rush doesn't work anymore
for rooting you will have to flash an older rooted rom
then flash a newer rom keeping root.
The option 5 is not available on the Note
You can buy the VOODOO LOUDER app in market
it is developped by supercurio to boost the volume level of the Note
THIS ONLY WORKS ON THE HEADPHONES JACK
for the speaker or call-volume nothing can be done except using
an EQ app and set all levels to MAX
Finally it might help if you put the phone right on your ear.
remember it is big and many ppl hold it to high on the ear...
use volume+ https://market.android.com/details?...GwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLlRFU1QuYW5kcm9pZC5sdmgiXQ
re:
"The option 5 is not available on the Note?" Why the Hells not? Why dont they just remove option 5 (Audio) then?
Me too. I have a feeling its been disabled on purpose as the Galaxy S II with ICS does the same thing, previously working.
Perhaps we can extract the ServiceMode.apk file from a GS II with stock firmware and try from there...
after updating my wifes galaxy mini to 2.3.6 i noticed her volume on various parts like notification and system sounds are very low end with volume fully up, i have looked around but just like most users with the mini its a problem, will the ics port have a volume fix for this or will the devs work their magic on it.
also when flashed i tried to new a newer rom on for her but cwm looked zoomed and wouldnt let me scroll any further than the 4th line of what was displayed, anyone else had this problem
I'm afraid that you should look for the right version of your CWM recovery
And also try to check in sound settings about volume and in cm settings that the same is in level ^_^
And the thing about ICS port it will take time
Squady is working on it and i don't think there should be any prob related to volume in gb.
IF I HELPED YOU PLS. CONSIDER THANKING ME.

I think he spoke about a stock 2.3.6 rom. And he is right. Seems like that rom have got a notifications sound issue. All custom roms that look like stock rom basing on 2.3.6 have got the same issue.
At the moment i am on cm7rc5.3 and sound there is fine. Tested with 2 equal tones.

Try This!!
Hi guys, my first post here on XDA.
The Note is my first Android phone, I previously had an iPhone. I really like the Note, but the most annoying thing about it is that it will always wake up after a call is ended.
I always call using the headset cable, and I both answer and hang up calls using the headset button. The phone is in my pocket. After hanging up the call (using the button) I happily go on doing whatever I was doing before. Meanwhile, in my pocket, my Note happily continues making pocket calls and clicks around at random!
It's driving me absolutely crazy. How can I fix it? Is there a mod I don't know about? An app? I've tried downloading another dialer (DialerEx) but no luck. It's obviously an OS "feature".
I first noticed this on stock ROM, so I tried RocketROM v21 in hope that it was fixed there. No luck.
Can someone please point me to a fix? I'm even willing to hack kernel code to get rid of this!
Thanks

Edit: I of course posted this thread in the wrong forum just to show my noobieness. Can't find a way to move it to Q&A so I leave that to the moderators... Sorry!
Moved To Q&A
No Problem, its moved
I'm curious about this as well. I use a headset 95% of the time and this drives me crazy. It's got to be TouchWiz I think since my AOSP phones never did/do this.

I just compared this to my friend's HTC (Sense UI), and he also does not have this problem. I find it problematic if this is part of the TouchWiz UI, because we don't have access to the source code for that, right? So, no way of fixing it beside throwing out TW completely?
How about the ICS TW? I'm still waiting for a stable CM9 release before jumping on the ICS bandwagon, so can someone with the ICS leak confirm that this is till an issue?
Thanks in advance!
I'm listening to a podcast with headphones plugged in.
My issue is all notifications still use the handset speaker and not the headphones so if the handset is in my pocket I dont hear them but the silly thing is the podcast audio dips.
Is this a setting on the handset or an issue with the app its self?
Rick.

Seriously, No one else had this?
When I have earphones plugged in, notifcations always come through the earphones. This is with every app I've had come through so far. So, maybe it's an app thing? Have you looked in Sound settings for anything?
You on stock GB or ICS?
Im still on GB.
I wanted to know if it was a Note thing or a my settings thing.
If yours work normally then I'll have a look at is it just my pod cast app that has this affect or do others.
Thanks for your input.
RICK
Nope it does it in my music app as well.
Off for a dig in the settings...

And you said ALL notification sounds come through the handset speaker, not just a few, right? That's got to be a global setting. I would try to help you go through the settings and check everything, but I am on ICS Stunner now.
Are you comfortable rooting and flashing an ICS rom on your phone or do you want to stay official and on GB? I was going to say if you can not figure it out (and no one with a GB rom can help either), maybe try it on ICS just to see if it was an operating system thing. But, I don't think it is.
Sorry I can't help much more!
You have helped loads by confirming its not a bug on all devices.
Samsung team have asked me to plug in and ensure my device has the latest firmware / software.
As for root.... I rooted my HTC Desire and regretted it, and ok the Note is a completely different device but I'm kind of holding out for official ICS before I make my mind up.

I'm running TD 9.1, and prior was on 8.0. Tried both stock kernel, and a few other ones with no luck. At first when the sounds starts playing, the left speaker works fine, then with in a sec, it will fad to almost nothing. Is this something someone else has encountered? For all I know it has been like this since day one.. But I don't believe so.
Edit: I have also tried clean installs. i have not tried other roms yet.
Double edit: My xda search is not working, but google did for me. Found one other person having somewhat the same issue, but it was never answered. I hate to bump an old tread like that, after i have posted mine already.

I have the exact same issue. Tried million ROMs, sound patches and tricks but nothing change. The easiest way to see the difference between the two speakers is to run the Audio Test using HTC Function Test by dialing *#*#3424#*#*
Finally, I managed to get S-Off and now I'm going to get back to 100% stock flashing RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.3.exe, I'll do the test again and update the post.
EDIT: I'm full stock and it didn't fix it I guess I have to send it back...
BTW, what did you do? Did you fixed yours?
Running Sinless 5.1.5 now with elemental, everything works 100%. I guess for some reason my phone just didn't like TD, we all know they have a personality of there own..
Sorry for the long wait before response, I don't pay attention very well.
