Tonight I tried to use Social Live on the Z1, posting video direct to FB.
It worked, but my phone was very warm after a short period.
Then my Z1 crashed and I got a message saying the app was stopping as temperture was too high!
Anyone got any ideas??

Which firmware are you on? I had the camera heat up issue before but it hasn't happened since I've upgraded to 534

Sorry I was half asleep writing that this morning. I am on the latest firmware .534
I'd basically been using social live for around 3 minutes, the phone was very hot within seconds, then I got the message about coding down the app to protect the phone due to overheating issues
Going to try now again and see what happens, I will get a screen shot this time!

Well if gps is enabled it certainly drains battery and not opening gps makes this app useless

It may be the case the app uses the network as well as the GPS.

it does not appear so. i have it activated on my Z1 which leads us to my quick weekend NYC story..... i actually use the Google Android Device Manager service on my Z1 to be able to track it and lock it and erase it.
This last weekend I was in NYC for work and was just getting to the hotel and paid my cabbie (with a nice tip too) and as i walked into the hotel felt my SW2 vibrate and realized my phone was sitting in the backseat of the cab.
Had my co-worker call it over and over with no initial luck. I realized I had just enabled Device Manager on it and went to my Google Device Manage webpage on the iPad Mini and saw the phone sitting at the Laguardia. I then rang the phone (it basically will ring constantly for five minutes) and then called it again and got a hold of the cabbie and he even said he'd drop it off at the end of his shift.
So throughout the rest of the day I watched my phone travel all over NYC from Manhattan to NJ and back to my hotel where i generously tipped the driver again in cash and smiled and thanked him graciously!
I LOVE NYC!! you all rule out there and yes.. ENABLE IT!

Yep, happened to me today, although that was the first time it has happened in quite some time.
software update issue, try to repair using pc companion...
Yeah had it happen to me once, people have said it was related to high activity, but my scenario was from the phone in idle state for about 20 mins to opening up a browser and it locked on a page, tried to refresh, and then reboot.
I'm watching a media file on my Nexus 7 (Cyanogenmod) using LocalCast or a similiar app (doesn't matter which one) and after a random time period, Chomecast just restarts (?). At least it shows the spinning Chrome-icon and afterwards the default standby-wallpapers.
My router and wi-fi are fine, my tablet is fine.
Maybe it's the fault of my ROM, who knows. I just want to ask people how they fixed it if they had the same problem.

Does it happen for all videos, or only certain ones?
Also, is your Chromecast in an enclosed area or near a heat source (yes, the TV counts)?
It happened to mine too once in last week. I am using tablet z stock. And I was watching YouTube only. And for few days the YouTube app in chrome cast crashing random while watching.

Yes. That happened couple of days before one time. Today it's free crashing while playing videos on YouTube. I am tired of watching this.

If you aren't using wall power, highly recommend switching to it, at least to reduce variables. Also try factory reset in case some internal settings have become corrupt.
Wish there was a way to force re-update of firmware for stock but I don't know of any.

Did the factory reset. Not helping. To me its sounds problem on google services. But who knows.

Did both, sadly didn't help. Since venki5star is using a Stock OS, it doesn't seem to be a problem of my Cyanogenmod-installation. But who knows.

I am concluding this as Google end issues. It worked better yesterday evening. Now from today morning, YouTube app started crashing again. Will try other services and let you guys know.

And if you start the casting from a PC or Laptop and use your phone/tablet to continue casting everything works fine until you switch off and on the Chromecast.

Mine started doing this a few days ago also. Watching a Youtube clip about halfway through it just cuts off. If I have a few in a playlist, it works fine after the first video crash.
Try from PC/Laptop. Works all the time.

It shouldn't matter where the cast request comes from, but hey I've seen some strange things in my day so anything is possible.

Since I do not live in the US, I can't even use the warranty. I already have a plan how to swap out my Chromecast, but first it has to be released in my country, why should happing within the next two weeks. Apart from that I didn't have any luck getting the Chromecast to work as it should.
Any one else having the problem of the phone just going black an not responding to anything. Its happen twice the first time I had to take out battery the second time it restarted in 3 or so minutes.

I had Google services stop responding once. Also the phone froze once as well, was able to kill all apps and it fixed it.

Moved to AT&T GS5 Q&A Forum.
It does it nearly every time I try and play back a video that's saved on my SD card from my old S2. It turns black and is unresponsive for about a minute or two. It mostly does it using MX Player, but sometimes also using the stock video player and QuickPic video player. It's kinda embarrassing showing off videos on a brand new phone and it freezes up this much.

I'm having the same issue, has happened about 5 times now with no rhyme or reason as to why. My phone freezes if I attempt to view a video on websites also. Really getting annoyed with this.

Sorry numba3 I have since returned the device. My wife though recently picked one up and she hasn't reported any issues.
Now i am using 757 but i saw someones using 761.
What improvements got 761 compared to 757?
What improvement you get from a 1.81mb of difference. What 1.81MB of upgrade can do? Nothing, maybe just a speaker bug fix.

Well it did something anyway.
I had problems with lots of random reboots on .757 but .761 only suffered from one reboot while using mxplayer this morning.
So only one reboot on 14 days instead of one or two every day. So something has surley changed for the better.
Still touchscreen issues sometimes, just turn screen off and on and it works again.

Is there any battery improvements? This is the most important part y'know.
No battery improvements for me. I have an option to upgrade to .761 by PCC (LB, Orange Poland) but I still prefer to use Custom Roms like Evo ora Aur

You know what, I got another reboot tonight when browsing my movies!!!
It worked perfectly for two weeks and then it started with the silly reboots again.
I did not have that on 4.3 though. Must be a rogue app now that is ****ing up everything. I uninstalled all I could think if before this reboot though Surley kit kat issues since jelly bean did not give me these problems.

Same here for me, I flashed my phone like crazy with several different custom ROMs and stock. But I get random reboots each day no matter what App I am using and what ROM I am on. Sometime if I have to capture important moment of life in picture, but this phone ends up embarrassing me and Sony. Seriously disappointed with this phone.

Ye, I'm not impressed with the phone. But I got my money back actually and got to keep the phone. So atm I don't really care. I'll buy the oneplus one when I get the invite.
But did you try 136 4.3? That one worked with no reboot's for me.
I actually think it is the "movie" app that might cause my reboots now since that recently got updated. And I didn't have a single reboot for two weeks before that.
We must have something in our hardware that fails abit with kk or something.
