I cant get my FB contacts lists and pictures to import/sync into my 'people'.
I enjoy having the small profile pictures next to my contacts, was simple on my WP, cant get the Moto X to do it.......
If it doesn't work by default and removing and re-adding your fb account doesn't resolve the issue either, try downloading Haxsync from the Play Store.. Works for me!

I'm facing the same problem and on the sync page I get a forever syncing. (config> accounts> fb).
I tried re-adding fb account, but no success.
Anyone with a solution? or got it working?

I think android and fb have issues with his because Google wants there Google+ pictures to appear. Its been off and on through updates with my last moto phone. I use sync.me and make it sync whenever I open it. It will also give you a list of contacts its not sure about so you can easily click "yes that's the person" or "no that's not the person" if the name is listed not exactly correct. I would use third party apps because figuring out the Facebook syncing profile pics is virtually impossible. IMHO

Yes you do need jellybean workaround.

You need both.. Jb workaround is not standalone. Its dependent on full app. Works like a charm tho!

Installed both, worked pretty well!
Still not synced up with all my FB contacts info and pictures. Any other tricks?

Somehow, I am not able to get to the screen where you choose to sync your facebook contacts like when you first get that after installing a rom/wiping data.
I can not add a facebook account through accounts and sync. Deleting all facebook data doesn't help it. Please help!
if you open the fb app and go into settings, there's an option to sync contacts
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If you can't add an account, it might be because you used Froyo's method of app2sd. Move the app back to the "internal" memory and see if you can add an account back (you may need to reboot for it to show up in the account selection section).

There is no such option in my FB App either.
Is there a solution for re-syncing the contacts?

If that isn't the case, you may not have enough freespace on the device to store any info...

That was just the setting I didn't have. Don't worry anymore, though, I solved it by using an external application. Furthermore, I would just like to say I do not run ICS any longer. I currently run samuaz CM7 ROM and will continue using it until all the major bug and stability issues with the current ICS builds are ironed out.
ICS really is a great ROM and it's gonna be a tough choice between choosing an AOSP ICS build or a cyanogenmod AOSP ICS build. I really "dig" cyanogenmod so that's probably what I'll look forward to.

I didn't use app2sd or something like that. So I think the app is in the internal memory.
And my phone is just 3 days old so it should have enough space.

If just some aren't working, then overall, your app is working, it just isn't always able to find the right person to sync it with. Just find that facebook contact, then click on their picture to get the little popup with email and their contact card. Click on the contact card and select edit contact, then use the menu button and click on join. Find the contact in your normal contact and select that person. This will join the contacts.

Sorry I didn't made it clear: There are some Fb contacts missing, not the link between my contacts and Fb.
So it isn't possible for me to link them, because they don't exist
Is this with the stock facebook app? Because I know if you use third-party ones like Friendcaster, if they blocked the app, they won't show up. If it is the stock app, I really don't know. I haven't seen that issue at all.
Not sure what ICS did, but my contact photos are a no-show on GoSms. The photos aren't actually save to the phone, they are pulled from each contact's facebook acount via facebook sync. It will show contact photos from contacts that have photos saved on the phone, but not for the contacts that rely on the facebook images. No issues in the actual people app, or the stock messager, just on GoSMS. Anyone else having issues? Possible fix? I tried uninstalling and re-installing it, no dice.
Handcent too. Havent figured out why and can't suggest anything at this point cause nothing I've tried has worked
Edit: Guess it's just not showing facebook contact photos. Google contact photos are showing up. Stock messaging shows all pics though...hmm. still looking..
Ha. Handcent just "Updated" and now I don't get Google contact pics either, only phone pics now..
Yeah it seems to be an issued with the sense 3.6s contacts data base and third party apps.

Help! Same Issue!
I did a software update and my photos under my phonebook are updated from facebook but my handcent sms photos are not showing up at all anymore. I tried downloading GoSMS and the same error. Anyone have a solution to this? I miss seeing the pictures when I text people!
I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mots.haxsync
It's mostly is for AOSP or CM9 builds, but it works for Sense.
Cool. I'm actually four the problem. On Gingerbread, the vivid had its own unique facebook app, "facebook for htc sense ", but on ics, it useful the standard facebook app, and apparently the Facebook app doesn't let 3rd party apps have access to contacts. Why? Because Zuckerberg sucks probably. But anyway I fired the issue by deleting my accounts info on the Facebook app and installing friendcaster pro. I have friendcaster are so it was no big deal. The drawback is I can no longer use my cool friendstream widget.

Friendcaster has the ability to take photos from your Facebook and put them on your phone. I think that is what he was trying to say.

So the friendcaster is just an alternate to facebook. The issue I am having is that the facebook pictures show up in the phonebook but in handcent sms since I've updated they don't show at all . I was wondering if there was a way to fix THAT issue Thanks in advance
Yes using friendcaster instead will fix that issue. For me same issue, facebook pictures show in phonebook, not in gosms. Delete your Facebook account information and install friendcaster, log in and after sense links all your contacts you'll be good

Confirmed. Facebook's app has always been a steamy PoS
It is crap. I had the paid version of friendcaster already from using cyanogenmod on my captivate. The facebook app wouldn't sync photos at all on it and even my phonebook had no photos so from googleing i found friendcaster fixes the problem. The free version gets the job done but the paid version removes ads so I went ahead and paid for it.

I was having this problem even with HTC's contact widget. I wiped my facebook app data, then used titanium backup to uninstall the app. I reinstalled the app via google play and synced all contacts and the problem was fixed.

I can confirm that having both Facebook and Friendcaster accounts didn't show contact pictures, but removing the Facebook account entirely fixed the issue in a minute or two. Thanks for the advice!

I have created Facebook account and it's working in socialhub but I couldn't get the contacts to sync with device. In GB there will be an option to check whether do or do not sync contacts. But I couldn't find it in ICS. How to solve this?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
go to your contacts and hit settings. then accounts. Then check off the "sync" icon next to facebook
^^ Copy That.
Else you can do one more thing. Reinstall the FB app. Once I got stuck in somewhat similar thing like that.
I found that my facebook application which was restored by titanium backup didn't actually sync well with contacts. so had to reinstall.
I checked it and its in green color. When I go further it shows only messages and calendar. It didn't show up contacts. Any idea?

I'm talking about inbuilt social hub which lets the contacts to sync with Facebook account.. Can I re install that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Why don't you use the fb app which is AVAILABLE in market. It also syncs in the same way.
Sure it will work.. But I don't wanna pile up with apps. Social hub has to do this job and I wanted to do it. Actually when I was GB I'll remove all social hub related apps (twitter account, linked account, even default mail app) except Facebook account, still it was syncing contacts flawlessly. Now I wanted the same. Does ICS doesn't have that capability??
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

Well I think you should wait for some more time till a solution comes out. I had the same problem with SocialHub. I chose over FB Market App since I didnt have time & wanted to get my contacts asap back. :/ Still will send you any info which might be helpful on this topic
Thanks.. Just now Google it... It seems there is a bug in ICS that stops sync contacts particularly in contactsprovider.apk. We need to add some .xml file it seems. Which is too tech for me so m gonna search some other option for this.

Hello guys.
Sorry if this question has been asked. Looked through a few pages but couldnt find any topic related to this.
Anyway, im currently on the unofficial cyan10 rom, and im wondering whether the facebook sync contact is working on your inc s. I already set for the app to sync contacts, but nothing happened.
This was obvious when none of my contacts had the photos they were using on FB.
I googled a bit and seemed to found a thread which showed how to sync properly, but its using another device, and the method requires renaming some apks, plus most of the users said it didnt work, so i didnt try it yet.
So i was hoping someone had a solution for this.
Sorry for all the troubles and thankyou for helping.

If you mean the built in method: It just converts every of your fb friends in contacts on your phone. It's not visible without checking the [X] though... If you want really sync fb profile pictures and events to your contacts and your calendar, I recommend you HaxSync. It works flawless on AOSP and CM
What [X] are you on about?
Because I'm sure I've set all of the in-app settings to display Facebook contacts, is there one I've missed...
I've gone into the menu in the 'People' app, and then 'contacts to display' and tried all variations in here.
Have others got Facebook contacts to show in your 'People' app by just selecting the right settings, without additional apps?
I must be doing something wrong...

After HaxSync has completed syncing contacts from facebook, they should be able to see them in People app (settings-contacts to display). If their names match with your existing contacts, they should be joined automatically. Otherwise, you need to join them one by one.

+1.You can manually join contacts if you go into Settings > Accounts > HaxSync > Preferences > Contact Settings > Manage Contacts. The rest should be clear. Should work
Oh I see. Actually some of my contacts already started to have the photos. Which is weird because the names on my phone dont match with the one on FB haha xD.
I guess the ones that didnt sync, i'll just do them manually.

One thing I don't like in HaxSync is the fuzzy logic for name matching. I always disable it the first thing after installation.

I'd kinda like to get the phone working the way it's supposed to work rather than downloading an app for it.
Facebooks contacts, at least for me, have never synced with vanilla android. Only way is to use a third party app.

As notown said above, you have to use an asp to sync contacts. Haxsync is my app of choice
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
FB & Google haven't played well together (on purpose) since either 2.3 or 4. Haxsync works perfectly to get around the contact sync issue.
So yeah, you're not "using an app to get the phone to work correctly", you're using an app to fix Facebook being a bunch of jackasses. It's "working correctly" by not syncing in the first place.
Oh alright. I just figured since they synced in Sense they would sync without it.
