I have disabled the kid mode app but the option is still in the power menu and that annoys me. I know you can hide it with modaco toolkit but I want to fully remove it without having to install the toolkit. Does anyone know where this is? I am comfortable with changing framework I just don't know what to look for.

I too would like to know this.
I got a tiny exposed module to do this, I'm sure the author won't mind if it is shared but I will ask first.
flash a custom rom..

Okay, so I want to be able to do a couple of things. The first is nagging me, as I'm sure there's a way to do it, the second I'm not so sure about.
1) I want to be able to access the multi-tasking/Recent Apps list from anywhere. My idea is to push and hold Menu to get it to pop up, since Home uses Google Now when it's pushed and held. I know there was a way to do that with the search key back when we had 4 keys using LaunchKey, but I can't find anything to let me assign push/hold functionality to Menu. I'm rooted, so I'm sure there's a way to do this...
2) This I'm not so sure of. Because of the charging port being on the side of the phone, it works best in my car when it's held in a landscape orientation in my windshield-mounted dock. This is great for everything except one thing: the dialer. I know in most AOSP custom ROMs I've used on other phones, the dialer rotates with the phone. Since I've rarely stuck to stock on a phone before, and we're kind of forced to here, is there a way to get the dialer to rotate?

1. What jonslice says.
2. Download another dialer in the play store.
Holy crap. I feel so stupid now. How did I not know that? LOL
And yeah, downloaded another dialer. Forgot I could do that (since I've never really done it before). Thanks guys!

But are the notification mods available not allow disabling of notifications?
I use CM11, Long hold notification and do Ignore similar, and i don't get stupid messages like this.
But i thought things like Notification Toggle etc allowed hiding messages like that.
Might give you somewhere to look already if you have not.
Just download the NotifyClean module. After you reboot on installing, open NotifyClean and reboot your phone again. This means that it will start logging the notification area. Go to NotifyClean and select the Notification(I don't have a Samsung phone so I don't know what will it say, but it will be there). Make sure to select the notification(the selection will turn red on selection). Also play around with the settings if you want and reboot your phone again. It won't show up the next time.

Unfortunately, it won't stay disabled. Don't know anything about the XML files though.

Okay... i assume that in app info you can't disable the notification. right? assuming that you can't , you may want to use lucky patcher or use appsettings both of them can help you to modify the app from the inside. you can change the permission to remove the notification . You can choose either lucky patcher , or appsettings from xposed modules. Hope you solve the problem.

Screenshot is built in (power and volume down).
Are you looking for screen recording? Like a video? That is built in as well but I don't remember that one.

I tried it before posting and it just lowered volume tried again and worked instantly must have something to do with way I held the buttons. t/u
You can also use power plus home key

If I were you I would go and download/install Xposed for LP (there is a thread in XDA.) Then go and d/l the Sense 6 Toolbox (once Xposed is installed and activated make sure you go into Options/Settings and allow for BETA version.)
Once you have Sense 6 TB installed you will have the option to take screenshots by long pressing one of the buttons. I use this option instead of the stock options.

Or, you can add Screenshot as one of your Quick Settings options. As for changing the default save location....not sure about that at all. Have you tried using a Google search for that method?

Its not possible without editing the framework, you can use third-party apps like tasker to schedule copies made from internal to external though, as for stock get with your rom dev and see if they'd incorporate a switch for you.
T/u all
Always search 1st and t/u all but didn't want 3rd party app was just interested in trying to change default save location. With all that we do I thought someone might have a way to change it via SQL editor or some sort of flash.
Hey guys
I was wondering if there's any apps that can make a device require a password to shutdown? I've looked on the app store and I can't seem to find anything, or maybe I'm missing it.
Thanks for any help
David C.
And what's the reason? Long hold the power button still starts reboot device.

Simple, someone steals your phone they won't be able to turn it off that easy making it easier to locate.
David C.
I understand the reason. I speak about other: there's no sense to put protection on program turn off when the device can be switched off physically.
Just an update. I actually found something better than what i was looking for. Xposed GravityBox has a Power tweak to Disable power menu on lockscreen so you need to actually usa a passcode to turn off your device.

i had the same question to you. Haha. i hate the way my phone physically shut down when it's in my pocket and looked for such an app. I think this app is good
Smart Lockscreen protector
Google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nezdroid.lockscreenprotector
Apk: http://choilieng.com/apk-on-pc/com.nezdroid.lockscreenprotector.apk

Or if you want anti-thief shutdown feature, this app is great:
Cerberus anti theft
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus&hl=en_GB
apk: http://choilieng.com/apk-on-pc/com.lsdroid.cerberus.apk
hope this help./
Does anyone know if theres a kernel out there that allows you to modify/disable the hardware keys on the Nexus 6? I just bought a SnailVR headset, but unfortunately the harness presses down on all the buttons, causing it to reboot to the bootloader.
I've tried Xposed Framework and Xposed Additions but this key combination is hard coded into the kernel.
Any light on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Grant

thats not a kernel that you are looking for, thats a hardware mod or an app that you need.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm fairly certain the key combination for rebooting into the bootloader is something I'd need to access in a modified kernel.
If this is something I can accomplish without doing so though, I'd be much happier with that solution. Like I said, I've used Xposed Additions which gives you the ability to rebind hardware key actions for press and long-presses. Unfortunately this does not disable the long-press action for rebooting the phone or booting into the bootloader.

This is not something you will be able to change. It is a safety feature that built deep into the system. Even if you disable them in the keyconfig files it will still do it. There are somethings that just cant be changed. You have to remember that not all the code for the whole device is available.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it
That is correct. Pressing the keys for 10+ secs its hardware into the mobiles. Its like getting the battery out. Its there as a precaution if your mobile needs a hard reset. Nothing will be able to override it i think

Root the phone, install LMT Launcher and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 (to disable and hide the hardware keys) to the build.prop and reboot. A custom kernel is not required, it also works on the stock kernel.
