I'm using the gallery2.apk from 4.2.2 on my SlimBean 4.1.2 ROM and seems to work fine. I'm missing the night ISO feature though, which really helped in low light. Was wondering if I'm missing some libs or something? Or is this feature out of reach for 4.1.2 ROMs?
Cheers!

What? How am I bothering the devs? It's a simple question. I'm not the only one who would like to use this feature without having to use the buggy and slow 4.2 builds.
Logically if the camera/gallery apk works so should simple features like night shot ISO. I've only ported the apk maybe there are other files attached to this app? I know I'm not the only one who would like this.
Cheers!

You mean the ISO settings on the stock roms?
EDIT: I read your thread properly ._.
Hmmm... Maybe it is connected to the camera libs. Although I think its a 4.1.2 feature only (I've never seen a night ISO on the 4.2.2 roms I've tried)

Lol not stock. I've taken gallery apk from slimbean 4.2 and put on slimbean 4.1.2. The feature I'm on about is on the settings panel within the camera screen. It's the ISO option which is there on most jb 4.2 builds.
When using the camera with 4.2 it give you a ISO mode "night" which works great for low light situations.
When I use the same gallery apk on a 4.1.2 build the ISO mode is still there with various levels but "night" mode is no longer.
I like 4.1.2 over 4.2 for its speed and having the full screen camera is very nice. Everything works using this camera, just missing features like night ISO and photo effects which I think was gallery4.apk, though I never use this so left it out my system.

From time to time you might feel like that. But it does not mean that you can't tamper with a phone, especially a nexus one.
Yes if I would buy an s4 the only thing that I would is root it just for the sake of TB.
But with the nexus you can do anything and is super easy to return to where you were.
And no counter or avoiding warranty by unlocking the bootloader you just need 3 words to lock or unlock it and of course a backup
I don't say you have to become a crack flasher but trying mods and roms will make you have a better perspective and even convince you that stock is better.
Anyway, everything is up to you.
You can always leave it at stock and wait for that much desired OTA.
Cheers mate

I only flash custom ROM's and Kernels for performance, not so much additional features or looks.
No, I don't feel like this because I own a nexus device.
Kinda off topic question: what does everyone need titanium backup for? I always see people saying "the only reason I root is for TB", but why would you need to backup your apps if your not flashing Roms?

Ice Cream Sandwich was the end of custom ROMs on the phone for me. I have CM on my N7, however, I feel it runs better. I always buy a phone and make it make me flash something else. Since the Galaxy Nexus, I have had no need to do this.

Agreed, it's circular logic. Especially now that game stats/etc will be saved so you can pick your phone or tablet up and still be at the same spot in the game.

Agreed, Android has been closing the gap, if my current ROM/source wasn't available I'd happily rock stock.
I bought a nexus 4 because I love hacking, customizing and bricking my phone and all this stuff, I love it, no regrets, I dont want to go back to touchwiz and timescape...
If stock android had customizable notification toggles built-in I'd probably stay 100% stock. And yes I know there's apps on the market but Ive tried them & didn't like.

I used to feel like this. Back when I had a g2x I flashed because I HAD to frequently. Every ROM would inevitably become unstable and I would find myself looking for a new ROM to flash. Annoying as hell really. My n4 is rooted stock 4.2.2 w/ franco kernel for help with battery drain. I truly yearn for the day that I don't have to do anything to a phone. Not even root. Will the nexus line eventually come pre-rooted as well as unlocked? A man can dream can't he?

I don't feel like I need to install a custom rom with this device. Tweaking it with a few mods gets me what I need. I still don't get why some refuse to mod the phone because they want to get the next ota update. Once it is released, all one has to do is flash a rooted version that should appear here within 24 hours.

This and I want Google to give the option to unlink the bloody notification and call volume. I also want brightness slider in the notification or quick settings, dont understand why no one apart from Samsung considers the importance of the slider.
Oh and did I say battery percentage? While it's not exactly a deal breaker but still does not make any sense why stock android doesn't have it.

Oh man! A former G2x user... that also lives in Central NJ. Remember when we were waiting for the O2x ICS update? No HW acceleration or anything, it sucked.
I don't flash nearly as often as I used to like I did with my G2x. I stick with ROMs for much longer now. I'm happy with CM10.1

I don't understand why it doesn't come pre-rooted. Just like enabling the Developer options, there should be some method needed to enable root, aside from the whole custom recovery custom root solution thing. Normal users aren't exposed directly to root, and power users who need root, can easily enable it. And... new users can root too without the need of those toolkits :good:

Because it's a giant security hole..
Just a general post to see if those of you who got the update to work, if you really think it's worth it? Is it one step forward, two steps back? Are you happy that you updated or sorry you did? No, this post isn't necessarily a question post, just one to get people's opinions on the update in one place and not scattered between a few threads. Mods, if you feel this is redundant, that's fine. I'm just trying to generate some activity and input from the users on the update.
I did it and it seems a lot smother. But then I cf-autorooted and restored a nandroid of carbon rom. Don't know why but I seem to get better service.

Works fine when first opened as in your screen shot, set it up and then open it and kill the app then try and reopen it. Half time closes on me. Un installed latest and reverted to previous update and works fine.
Odd thing too, is it doesn't do this in landscape mode only portrait.

3g icons suck big time. Looks like smeone took the small one and streched it in photoshop. Regarding benchmarking i scored this on antutu which makes me wonder how cheatfull is samsung on benchmarking. Am on stock 4.3 and rooted.
Agreed. The 3G icon looks aweful!!!
There are more fonts to change the phone to. Mobile Data is missing from the drop down. Reading mode was added. GSM data roaming was opened up while all roaming was turned off. It does feel much smoother.

You can update and keep root... I odined back to mf9 and used cf auto root to gain root access back. I then went into superSU and checked survival mode(keeps root even after ota). After that I downloaded the update and put it on my sd card. Once there I went into stock recover uodated from sdcard and now I have 4.3 still rooted.

Were/are Xposed mods not supposed to be working with MJA? I've been using Wanam and a few others for weeks now with absolutely no problem - maybe it's just what mods/options I'm using haha?

I had this issue on MF9 as well.
I'm stuck on deciding what to do next.
I'm having issues playing Injustice on my SP on the stock Rom. It randomly pauses or closes fully back to home while playing. I have 3 options I think; Do I tweak this Rom with supercharger script or something. Or do I install a custom Rom like eXistenZ and hope that performs better. Or do I just wait for official 4.3 update and then hope memory management is better?
What would you guys suggest? I'm still new to my Xperia SP.

If I were you, I would wait for the android 4.3 and If the ram management sucks too I would go for cyanogenmod.
Go to CM 11, the best choice you have!
The thing that's putting me off CM is the loss of Sony stuff like stamina mode and im guessing no walkman and gallery light effects.
I like all the little gimmicks haha

I think I'm going to try a script to maybe sort out memory management, and then when 4.3 comes, I'll remove the tweaks, relock bootloader and then install the new official update. When that will come is another story
