Going back after 4.3 - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When the 3.22.1540.1 RUU.exe became available I ran it on my international s-off supercid device. I found the new 4.3 stock rom quite good but a few well documented glitches were present which I hadn't experienced before on earliar versions such as proximity sensor issues, contact picture issues in the sms app and constant data signal dropping.
In experiencing these issues, I decided to return to stock by running the 1.27.401.7 RUU.exe then taking updates for my cid(HTC__001) until the latest 2.24.401.8 was installed so that I am now running completely stock software and firmware.
As I am now, back to 4.2.2 with no user apps installed yet, I was expecting the 4.3 glitches not to be present just as they weren't when I was originally running this set-up. This was not the case. The glitches still remain
Could anybody explain to me just how this could be? I was under the impression that an RUU.exe install was a completely clean install but my state of affairs suggests that it isn't.

Hi,
Seems like we both have almost same problem.
I've been running viper rom since 2nd day i got HTC One and everytime i make speedtest or any downloads over 12Mb/s data signal breaks.
I called my operator, made them update cell towers LOL and even my sim card to latest spec for LTE, but that didnt helped also.
Then while i was s-off ing my device, returned to full stock 2.24.401.8 WWE i dont have any problems at all, no signal drop or data breaks...
Seems like something else is going on here, as I tried all possible options on phone.
Btw. still havent updated to latest RUU/base firmware as I'm not sure if after that update I can run viper rom 2.7.0 (fw 2.24.401.1) while new version (4.3) is still release candidate...

[Q] HTC One 801n - 4.2.2 update - WiFi issue

Howdy folks,
I received the HTC One (801n) earlier today. It arrived with 4.1.2.
Explored it for a few minutes, although I did not set it up fully - assuming I'd have to do it all over again following a 4.2.x update (I am coming from the HTC Desire, btw).
The WiFi was connecting without issues, then. I was also able to download the official 4.2.2 update from HTC servers.
The update was executed successfully - and surprisingly - I did not have to set-up the device from scratch. I then happened to notice that the phone would not connect to the WiFi network. I have my old Desire beside me (running a 4.2.2 custom ROM) and it has never faced those issues.
For a moment, I thought it was a hardware defect - but I recalled that the update from 4.1.2 was done OTA on the same WiFi network. I am, therefore, guessing it is a 4.2.2 bug.
Unfortunately, Google searches did not show any such issue specific to the One. However, there were 4.2.2-and-WiFi related issues in the One X.
I have tried a few full-resets in vain. Could someone please offer an insight?
Thanks, in advance, for your time/help.

Try removing the network in wifi settings and then reconnecting from new, it's not a issue with 4.2.2 causing this.
If that fails then after a base update (4.1.2 to 4.2.2) a factory reset is sometimes required after the update but this will mean having to set everything up again.

Thank you for the response. Did that, mate.
I guess you mean - 'forget' network and reconnect afresh? Yep, tried that. And did the factory reset too - to no avail.
Searched threads here, guess this is a first - in the meanwhile, I'll check out other Google results which indicated similar issues with the One X. Never owned one before, but shouldn't be all that different.

[Q] After new radio, prl, pri update, no signal anywhere!

i have had issues before with signal in my area, dropped calls, roaming, no bars, no data, etc etc..
but when i'd leave the area, i'd get perfect signal, 4g, etc etc.
ive complained to sprint many times, and theyve had it working for me off and on.
fast forward to the past few days. i updated the new radio, and tested a few 4.3 roms, updated prl and pri, and i consistantly have zero bars, dropped calls, no data, roaming, etc etc.
ive gone so far as to relock and ruu to the original htc one rom and radio. Still, the same thing.
so i unlocked again, and reflashed the new radio firmware (omj s-off version), and flashed the odex stock 4.3.
still absolutely no signal whatsoever.
heres my specs
revone s-off
unlocked
twrp 2.6.3
hboot 1.44
hardware 0004
radio 0913_3
pri 4.38_003
prl 55016
stock 4.3 odex rom, no mods
im really tempted to rollback to a previous prl and pri, i think thats what has caused alot of my problems.
i can still txt and call a bit, but its really iffy.
Have you updated your Profile also?
yep profile, pri, prl, 0 bars right now, and pretty much anywhere. and ive driven all over tonight late at night.
Same thing is happening to me as well, and Im on stock unrooted, after the Android 4.3 update I have consistently gotten bad signal strength everywhere. Sometimes my text messages fail to send as well. This never used to happen on 4.1. Another thing that has been happening to me that my battery drains much faster after the 4.3 update as well.
omg!! Mine is doing the same thing.. i dont kno what to do eaither.. ever since i updated to the new firmware.. i have 3g its fine but my signal is gone.. i get 1 bar if im lucky when im used to getiing 2-5.. something if deff wrong.. i even tried all 3 radios and nothing.. its gota be pri or prl no? is there a way to go back to what it was?
Same here. I used to get 4-5 bars for my 4G signal at work, and now it's 1-2. Across the board, my signal strength has dropped significantly after the update.

yes you can install the stock recovery image with adb through the bootloader same way you installed you custom recovery
buy the way i'm running the eclipticONE 4.3 rom.
Hey guys, I've created a post in this Q&A section on why this happens. Go check it out
Another thing I noticed is that "Battery Idle" is taking up about 45% of battery usage which makes no sense. This never used to happen on 4.1.2.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
No signal of any type
Android Version 4.3, HTC sense version 5.0,Sotware version Stock w Goodies One 2.06, baseband version 1.00.20.0913.3, Kernal version 3.4.10-g18569d8, PRI version 3.17-003, PRL version 00000. Network settings: tried to set to allow access for all trips, keeps resetting to deny data roaming access; 4G settings, nothing; data roaming set to all networks:Network mode- automatic; Allowed domestic voice/data.
Got all that info out of the way.
Flashed CM 10.1 a couple of weeks ago, almost all signal gone since that time. Tried AOKP ROM (the magical unicorns one) no help.
Tried the [ROM]42ONE - Aftermath 2.0, same problem. Today I flashed Stock w Goodies One 2.06 thinking there might be something in the CM kernal (which I believe is used by all but Stock w Goodies). Now I will say that I have always had a really pi** poor Sprint signal where I live, but I was able to sent/receive text messages fairly reliably. Now I don't even have that.
I have turned airplane mode off/on. I have attempted to update PRL two or three time. I have rebooted the phone a couple of times.
Are there any suggestions? Should I try to find another rom? Something's got to give.

[Q] Imaginary WiFi after Sprint OTA

I started with a fully stock Sprint m7 and took the most recent OTA with sense 6. I then did a factory reset. Since that reset, I have WiFi networks showing up in my list that don't exist. Upon further inspection, the signal db of these fake networks never change, and the mac addresses are all zeros. The WiFi works just fine other than this strange anomaly. I planned to unlock and flash AOSP anyway, so I ignored it and assumed they would go away after flashing. I unlocked and rooted, flashed another sense ROM, then went s-off with firewater. I then flashed cyanogenmod, the latest nightly. These networks are STILL SHOWING UP. What the heck is going on? I'm guessing its buried in the kernal so that why it persisted through multiple ROM flashes? I have googled and searched here several times and I can't find anything related to this issue. Again, it was 100% stock when this started.
I'm S-Off, running the Thoughtless One ROM now (latest sprint OTA base, rooted with bloat removed)
I flashed latest firmware with hboot and such removed.
Random WiFi neworks keep showing up "in range". I was able to locate one by its name, the business is next to where I had lunch one day. I never connected to it, and I'm 10 miles from it.
Anyone have sugestions? I don't know enough about this OS to understand where this bug could be hiding. It all started back when I was fully stock and took the OTA with Sense 6. It's starting to make me paranoid. :silly:

[Q] Can't connect to mibile network or wifi cant make calls or send recieve texts

Ok Kinda long but want to cover everything:
So I rooted my htc one m8 (sprint) about 6 months ago I have twrp recovery and I flashed android revolution 8. A few months later I installed android revolution 11 no problems with it what so ever. A cpl days ago I tried to flash android revolution 22 but had no luck just kept boot looping and I lost everything on my phone after some research It seems I wouldnt be able to go to kit kat 4.4.4 without going back to stock rom so I relocked my bootloader ran rom utility updater and flashed it back to stock and reset up my phone tried to flash over to android revolution again after unlocking bootloader and all that good stuff still did not work so just decided to go back to stick 4.4.4 kept bootloader locked and didn't re root my phone didn't see much of a need to at this point could only seem to use stock but anyway after a day or so of phone running just fine well today it wont connect to my mobile network or wifi (can't make or receive phone calls can't send or receive texts and am unabke to get any internet on my phone wont even connect to wif) I have even restored the phone from original back-up that I had also tried 2 other back-ups of stock roms the phone is pretty much just an mp3 player at this point sprint said everything was fine on their end nothing they can do all the icons are there for 4g and wifi and such the phone shows me its connected to sprint shows signal strength and all that so I don't know whats wrong and don't think htc will help me since I rooted it hopefully some one here can i'm
well I must be screwed if over 300 views on my post and not reply well that's what I get I guess
As far as I know ARHD is not Sprint compatible so you probably messed up your partitions.
RUU will fix it.
Only flash roms that are in the Sprint section.
Apart from compatibility off ARHD to Sprint M8 ... There is also that dreaded HTC service pack that was released on 11th Dec which screwed the network n Wi-Fi on my phone (stock Rom)
First time itty happened due to auto update install via play store and started working after I did multiple attempts at cache delete through TWRP
2nd time even after researching and knowing the service pack was the culprit I thought I should try...ending up with factory reset...so do check it
If you too had that service pack installed
Btw even htc acknowledges the sh#@ this update is causing to the phones and wants to collect more data... I don't know if anything else can be called a legit rip off or not...

[Q] Rom Load but is basically unusable then it reboots.

Hi Guys. I have searched the forum but havent found anything that applies to my problem. I have the HTC One M7 sprint version. I have been trying to sim unlock it but the phone came on an android version higher than 4.3. This is one of a batch of 4 so at this point I cant even remember the original os. My problem is that I need to be on an android os lower than 4.3 to unlock. I have been following the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586704 .Only roms at kitkat or higher are stable enough to use and not even all the kitkat ones are stable.
The issue:
The phone boots and the rom loads but I am unable to do anything with it. The lockscreen shows as normal but anytime I unlock the screen I get a white screen with HTC in green letters. On some roms I am able to access the settings menu but that is it. It just stays like that forever. On some roms it will stay on but most reboot in roughly 2-3 minutes. Most of the roms that are stable go into a handsfree activation loop where I cant get past that screen. I read a tutorial about deleting the htc setup apk but that works only some of the time and then the roms are mostly unstable.
My phone is S-Off and I have attempted to downgrade to stock 4.1.2 using the official ruu.. The process was successful but the stock os is unstable. Reboots every 2-3 minutes. I have flashed the firmware separately and then run the ruu. I have run the ruu on its own. I have done factory reset with both stock and custom recoveries after running the ruu.
I have tried pretty much every sprint rom I have come across and still no love. I've been at this for nearly a month and my HTC Rom folder is about 25gb if a list is needed I am willing to provide it but I really just want to be on stock 4.1.2 or a sense rom lower than 4.3 for the purpose of unlocking the gsm sim. I have been told that the issue could be hardware but then I have roms that run without issues except that the phone isnt unlockable in that state.
