Theming on Droid 4 - Motorola Droid 4

I haven't seen a lot of posts about theming here in our D4 forum so I thought I would create one. If you don't know about theming, you are really missing out on some fun things you can do. Personalize that phone and make it yours!
Theme Chooser Themes: On AOSP based ROMs (CM, AOKP, Liquid, etc.) you can use the built in theme chooser located in the system settings. There are TONS of themes out there, some free, some paid. Here are a couple of fantastic threads listing Theme Chooser themes:
CM10/10.1/10.2 and other JB AOSP based ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29455970
CM11 and other KK AOSP based ROMS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522538
Another option is the web site MyColorScreen.com. You will find a lot of custom themed home screens here and most have instructions on how to achieve the look yourself. You do not have to be running a ROM or even rooted for most/all of these.
A third option is the new Themer app located here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycolorscreen.themer&hl=en. This app is by the MyColorScreen guys and basically takes all the work out of creating those custom home screens you find on MyColorScreen. It is in beta right now so you will have to sign up to receive a code. I received my code yesterday and it is fantastic!
If any of you have other apps, sites, etc that you use feel free to share them here.

Do u still have the code?

Calling All Themers

Wondering where all the EH09 themes are at? Do the ED05 themes work on EH09? Are the devs porting themes and just not there yet? Just would like to know, thx.
All themers, please keep up the amazing work.
Most of the people that themed before have moved on to different devices. And a bulk of current users are running mtd roms (VGB, CM7, and MIUI) that include theme engines that have a vast array of theme choices available. I myself run pool party and have the one and only theme released for it. I'm surprised myself that someone that may have been teaching themself to theme hasn't poped up with a release for any touch wiz roms. But notta seems to be the only person posting anything for touch wiz.
And to answer your question since themes incleude rom specific frameworks. It would be a very bad idea to inject froyo frameworks into your gingerbread rom (it won't boot).
good day.
What he said ^^^ Please don't try to flash an ED05 theme onto EH09! Some themes should pop up in a few weeks...
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
There's a well written theme guide here and in the Mesmerize theme section. Go for it!

MiUi-Like CM7 T-Mobile theme Chooser

Hey guys I just wanted to share my ideas for the t-mobile theme Chooser in cm7 roms.
Basically I have this idea of letting the user choose some aspects of a theme they want and do not want.
Say you like the statusbar from this theme, but you don't like the looks of the icons, this would make it so that you could choose the icons from another theme without the hassle of always going on a PC and moving stuff with 7zip.
It would also be cool if it was possible to easily change the colors of some elements like the fonts, bgcolor, highlights and other stuff.
I just wanted to share this in case any of the devs would is interested in making this happen, or is it even possible? I find no reason for it not to be. I heard it was in MiUi(hence the title) although I can't be so sure since I've never used MiUi.
And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of this, I just couldn't find a thread about it.
Well, thanks for your time

As MIUI are going open source there is no reason why CM9 may actually include the MIUI theme system the same way the CM team implemented Theme Chooser when it was open sourced by T-Mobile.
Although Cyanogen Mod feature suggestions may be more likely to be seen by a dev on their own forums.

So far, hasn't MIUI just made their Apps open source?
That's cool, but would the MiUi theme engine work well with legacy devices?

Paranoid Android Themes

Afternoon all,
Just thought I'd ask what / if any themes people are using on PA now and what the results are?
Default theme is nice but I'd like a few more options for changing themes, Believe we can use anything designed for the CM9 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673456)
Just wondered if anyone has anything applied that's really impressed..
Yep you can use all CM9 themes for PA. My personal preference being the Holo Purple theme.

System UI Themes?

This is probably a silly question, but... I feel the need to ask it anyway. After recently switching back to a gb (for battery life reasons) rom XquiziT_SGH-T679_v6.1 to be exact, the only thing I noticed is the lacking "theme chooser" ability. What I wanted to know was is it possible to theme a rom that doesn't have theme chooser already built in? Or is there a way to apply it to a rom without it?
I've tried pretty much all the gb roms available and they all had some sort of issue that made my phone try and implode. This xquizit one seems quite stable and performs as I want it to, just... missing a little personalization. Basically what I want to do is change the ui "blue" to a purple. something like cm7 purple punch theme.
Thanks for any info/advice!
Theme chooser is in AOSP based roms only. Examples, cm, pa, PAC, aokp, etc. The only gb rom we have with that feature is cm7.

Layers or CM Themes

Just wanted your opinion on Layers and CM. Pros and cons, and/or which ones you ultimately prefer.
Share your thoughts
layers, easy answer. cm themes uses too many resources, and is aweful.

true, but I find CM has much more selection of themes, and from my research it is more user friendly as of now.

maybe, theyve been using it for a few years now, where layers is relatively newer. but, the use of system resources outweighs its user friendly ui.
CM themes on the fly but layers themes so much more...
I like layers, but it is not as popular and so it theme section isn't as good. that said there is so many cm themes and that puts it on top of layers for me.

CM, for the ability to apply icon packs within any launcher, especially with the Google Now launcher. If you don't care for icon packs, then Layers is great.
