Hi, I'm a new user.
I just unlocked my bootloader, and I was looking to put a custom Rom on my device .
But wherever I look , I can't find a custom recovery.
Can you introduce some custom recoveries to me.
Oh and I don't know how to put a custom recovery on my phone too,so I need some help with this too. =))
Ps: I don't want to root my phone.
I will be thankful if you help me.
TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395979
4EXT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377751
CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918450
(I suggest 4EXT)
To flash one of them, rename the IMG file to recovery, place it into your fastboot folder, boot into bootloader(fastboot mode) open command prompt navigate to your directory
Command to flash is "fastboot flash recovery recovery.IMG"
Hope this helps

The preliminary steps are to unlock bootloader (which I assume he has done that or if he is on HBOOT 1.13.0000, then use Revolutionary to S-OFF and then flash custom recovery and root), flash ClockworkMod recovery, then flash a superuser.zip to obtain root.
There's a guide made by myself in my signature so check it out. If you still need help, post back.

Ok you need to stop posting the same question on multiple threads! Please be patience and wait for responses. You claim that you relocked the bootloader before ou attempted the OTA, but did ou also remove CWM and replace it with the stock HTC recovery? That will prevent the OTA from completing successfully.
Yhanx for quick response can u tell me how can i replace stock HTC recovery ?????

You need to extract the recovery.img file from a RUU/ROM.zip file. Then you need to unlock the bootloader again and reboot into fastboot mode and flash the recovery.img file like you did for CWM.
Thanx mate it really works.

Hey,
I want (well not want, it's necessary) to change from CWM to 4ext recovery touch. i donwloaded the 4ext recovery updater, flashed the recovery from the app and rebooted to recovery. still there is cwm. i tried again with the classic version of 4ext recovery but the result remains the same.
i'd be glad if anyone can help me.
regards
If I'm not mistaken they are integrated..... Synergy!!!!!
i don't know what you're trying to say. my point is that 4ext recovery does not start when it should start. instead cwm is starting.
I'm trying to say that 4ext recovery is integrated into your cwm recovery to allow for 4ext partitions and backwards compatibility to 3ext. If the recovery isn't working you haven't told me that your original h-boot is 2.0000.
yeah right, i didn't told you that.
thanks for your help anyway. i managed to get it working by myself through flashing it via fastboot.
Good to hear no problem.
I am having the same problem. May I know what you mean by flashing using fastboot?

I asume you somewhat know how to use fastboot or read up on it. Havent flashed through fastboot for some time now but I think the line would be "fastboot flash recovery recoveryfile.img"

Hi,
I don't know how you solved this, but I had exactly the the same problem with an HTC Desire, can't upgrade to 4ext from CWM v2.5.0.7.
In my case, I solved it by running unrevoked again, but specifying the 4Ext recovery image. (I used the 4Ext app on the phone to download the appropriate .zip to the SDCard, then transferred it to the PC and extracted it there.)

Just came along this thread by accident.
Just for reference:
This is nonesense
4ext recovery has nothing to do with cwmr and they are not integrated.
You need to be s-off to be able to flash a recovery from inside your rom.
In the case you are not s-off, just download (or install) the recovery via recovery control/updater.
It will prepare your recovery config, but it cannot effectively update the recovery partition when you are not s-off.
So after you did that, you need to flash it manually.
You will find the recovery.img you tried to install or downloaded via recovery control in your sdcard's download folder.

yes first rule is unlock bootloader...posts all around this forum
second is to install cwm recovery, without this u cannot root.
thirdly u need to flash the root.zip file in cwm to enable root itself. easy to do, check out this forum, ive added in some tutorials and guides to help u along the way
how to unlock bootloader
To unlock the bootloader when i visit htcdev.com and select my device,it says hboot update required...now what does that mean?
Exactly as it ssays, update your hboot.
Once updated u can unlock the bootloader. Its safe, we have all done it.
U will need your phone plugged into PC and on charge mode to do that.

can you elaborate on this? truer recovery's? we only have 2, I'm also assuming this is when adding recovery to the phone itself?
if you can get a photo or screenshot showing me it may help.
Sorry it was tryed a few recoveries. I have since manages to get root but now my hboot says main version is older and just wants me to reboot phone so can't.access recovery
Sent from my HTC Salsa C510e using xda app-developers app
You're hboot will be the latest. As for recovery we use 5.0.2.6 really. If its not letting you boot into recovery, tends to mean it's not installed correctly. Once recovery is there it can always be accessed. The root itself should have taken care of the basics and given u superuser access.
If u have working root. Go and install superSU from the market, its better. Works faster and has fewer problems. Just remember once u install it. Open the app and update the binary.
This should correct a load of root errors.
If u have to, reinstall recovery again. Could be a bad install.

Which hboot version do you have? When it is 1.08. then it is fine.
How did you flash your recovery? Maybe something went wrong in that step. The only working recoveries are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791707. Commonly used is the ClockworkMod Recovery and a description how to flash is also there.
Maybe do some photos of your screen to find out the problem.
Got root access just I can't I need to.get to hboot to install.recovery or.get to recovery Rom manager just takes me to the hboot screen where it says main version is older its bugging me

when you get to these screens post up your HBOOT version.
You cannot unlock your Bootloader without updating to HBOOT V1.08
right u don't need hboot to install recovery.
u need bootloader/fastboot to install recovery.
connect your cable. pc & phone
select charge option on phone
open a cmd prompt window (DOS)
now you need to follow the adb cmds.
myself i have it loaded as follows, change yours accordingly
c:/cd android-sdk
c:/cd platform-tools
adb reboot bootloader
if you cannot do this via cable then you require to remove the battery, reinsert, hold volume key down and power on.
select fastboot option.
this should take you to the bootloader
now if you have recovery placed in the correct folder ie platform-tools
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
this will install your recovery to your phone.

If you're unlocked through htc dev, just flash custom recovery (4ext touch recommended) and you can flash custom roms after that.
Just make sure to flash boot.img through adb as said by mark. Always do this after flashing new rom when you are s-on.

Yes I am. I cannot install any ROMS, excepts CM-7.1, and I am looking for a way to wipe everything on my phone and install a MUIU working ROM. or any other ROM
Till you are s on you have to flash the boot.img inside the Rom.zip manually via fastboot.
Means, extract the boot.img into your fastboot folder on pc, flash the Rom on the Device, go into bootloader - fastboot and write on the pc in the terminal
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
And reboot device.
If you had a s off bootloader you won't have to do that.

Can u give me detailed instructions to use flashboot (option 1)?
How can I s-off my bootloader?
Option 2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22789885
Since you are s-on recovery can't enter the boot partition, means you have the flash the boot.img again with the kernel and modules for WiFi, Calling etc.
But you can access it through fastboot so you have to reflash it.
Helpful enough?

Edit, since you are s-on you will maybe have to downgrade your hboot and flash the revolutionary hboot, but I can't explain that now 'cos I have tomorrow my first school day and I have to look good
You can use the search funktion, keywords: downgrade, revolutionary
