[Q] com.android.htcdialer has stopped - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using a HTC One on TrickDroid 8.0.0 and I recently got the 'com.android.htcdialer has stopped' message...it didn't seem to relate to anything I've done to the phone in terms of rooting or installing the ROM, but I noticed online some people were suggesting it might have something to do with a recent skype update?? I've also read elsewhere that this has actually affected people's dialers, which hasn't happened to me - all that has happened in my case is that I've lost all the contacts in my list and when I get missed calls I can never see them or the number they've come from, both of which are pretty annoying!
Anyone any ideas? Bear in mind I'm a bit of a rookie so answers in words of one syllable (understandable by someone who doesn't have a clue!) would be much appreciated.
Cheers

[Q] Removing Dialer/Disabling outbound calls

I know this is kind of an odd request. I dug around quite a bit but couldn't find anything relevant. I'm currently using CM6. I want to basically give my kiddo the phone to play around with, as she keeps trying to hijack the wife's g2. I just don't need her accidentally dialing 911. If there is anyway to kill the dialer without gimping the rest of the OS that would be perfect. Any help would be very appreciated.

Anyone else have alot of SMS send failures ?

Hey Peoples
Had the galaxy for a few weeks and loving it so far, seems fairly stable. Im running 2.2.
Only thing I've noticed on the phone is it has alot of SMS failures. Maybe 25-35% of sms's I send will result in a failure, then i resend and goes through. It happens when I have full reception, and never happened previously with any old phones so im assuming its the phone.
Ive been with Optus (AUS) for the last 10+ years and never had any issues before so yeah think there network is all good.
Ive checked my settings and im using the same serivce centre settings as before. In SMS/Settings I havnt got anything selected except "delete old messages" and "notifications"
Anyone notice anything similar ?
Thanks
+1
I often find this too. I'm on Orange in the UK, I originally put it down to poor signal but it does happen far too often for that to be the only cause. Never had anything like it on previous phones
somewhat good to hear its not just me then
Just out of curiosity, which SMS program are you using ? I just use the default one. I Might try another SMS app (unless your having the same issues with another app)
Ive used the samsung default messaging app, Android AOSP messaging app, and ChompSMS. They all are the same though when it comes to failed deliveries so I suspect its something to do with the modem? Maybe would be better to try out different modems to see if that makes any difference?

Delayed SMS & sometimes no missed call notifications

I'm extremely frustrated that such a basic feature (sms and calling) can be stuffed up so much. Sometimes i will only get sms from a while back if i send that same person an sms.
I get people telling me it's gingerbread and others saying it's radios. I have tried everything, different radios, some are worse then others but the problem remains.
No it's not my provider, i never had this problem on my old nokia. It's either android, htc or both.
Is someone able to give me a straight solution to this problem, because atm people seem to be guessing and im slowly regretting buying an android. Something in the ROM?
If anyone with knowledge as to why it happens or any solutions i would GREATLY appreciate your help and so would other people on here. It seems that only a handful of us on here complain about this problem, and i just can't figure out why some people it works perfect and no problems and others have this stupid problem.
I'm currently on 6.03.03 radio from 405.1 ruu.
Does anyone have an answer?
Still happens, but not as often.

Strange Issue with HTC One Call History

Hello all,
I've recently acquired an HTC One. I had an iPhone before it. Although there was nothing wrong with the iPhone it was getting pretty stale for me. I've wanted to try the HTC One since it was released.
Anyways on to my problem. I got the phone used. It was locked to my service provider, Rogers (in Canada). I did a factory reset. When the phone was up an running I noticed that whenever I got a call the number would not show up or stay in the call history. I tried to reset the phone again and that didn't work, I tried different settings and nothing. I can receive and make calls without issues.
I have search here and used Google without any luck. Has anyone experienced this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm loving the phone but I sure hope I didn't buy one with software/hardware problems.

[Q] Issues with calls - mic/sound breaking up?

Hey, guys. You may have noticed me lurking around these parts of xda, clicking thanks to many posts and not posting myself etc. It's because my main phone's not an Ri, but I've been a fan of xt890 for a long time, so I made two of my family members get them. :victory:
However, one of them is making problems. It's the white one, the one that my mom uses. She's having issues where in-call something would go wrong and the person she's talking to would not be able to hear her anymore. At first I thought it was due to the low 3G coverage where we live, making the call bug out while the phone's switching between 3G and 2G networks, so I switched her phone to GSM only mode, but it started happening again. I've experienced this in calls with her, so I know she's not making things up or anything like that.
The phone is running stock JB, has not been unlocked and is still in warranty. But before taking it back to the shop (where it's likely to spend a month or so), do you think there's anything I could try? I already did a factory reset once, it didn't help. I'll try reflashing her firmware with RSDlite one of these days, but I'm not even sure whether that reflashes the radio/baseband stuff?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
