The Droid 4 is the first phone I've ever had that doesn't light an LED to indicate that it is charging, or indicate that it is fully charged. Is there such a thing on this phone? If so, how do I turn it on? I don't want to have to wake the phone to check the battery level.

ive opened the apk and I don't see bools.xml anywhere
It looks like the free app Light Flow will do the trick, even on non-rooted phones. The app gives me the option to change the colors, even. Nice selection too. The one thing I can't seem to make it do is keep the LED on continuously, even when I use Light Flow's Always On setting. Must be some setting Motorola has locked down. But at least I can tell at a glance whether the phone is charging or not, even when it's sleeping. Plus, Light Flow lets me set the LED to a different color when the battery is fully charged. Awesome for a free app. :good:

I'm about to buy a new Moto AtrixHD, I'm coming back to Motorola since my Atrix 4G crashed. Does the AHD own a notifications led? Only for alerts o while charging too?

It can be used for charging, I'm using Light Manager for that.
To answer OP question: The LED exists, it supports several colors and always on, and there are non-root apps out there to control it as well.
Thanks for you reply! It should light while charging. I'll try by myself when I get my phone.

Got the z two days back, the ph works fine normally, but as soon as i turn on 3g it gets extremely hot and battery dropped from 100% to 75 in 30 mins. No apps are running in the background. Please help me out...
Dont know what to do. Tried updating firmware, but still the same.
What do you mean by extremely hot? (If you place the phone on your skin then remove, does it change you skin colour to a pink hue?) becuase that is extremely hot for a phone (My HTC running turn by turn navigation did that normally) The battery should not drain that fast, the only suggestion I could make is that you might have a faulty unit, it shouldn't do that.
Have you tried to freeze/disable the fast dormancy app which comes with the stock rom?

It's called "com.sonyericsson.android.wakeup".
The files are: "/system/app/fast-dormancy-wakeup.apk" and "/system/app/fast-dormancy-wakeup.odex"
For more relevant info in the Fast Dormancy subject, search it on Google. It can save battery when your provider supports it or drain when it doesn't.

Move the 2 files to another place.
You need root access.

For some reason it is like my phone is stuck with auto brightness on even tho it is off. I had 3 HTC Ones next to each other. My phone was more dim out of all of them.
Any way to edit build.prop or something to fix this?
I also looked for an answer didn't see anything.
I'm on the newest viperRom, stock kernel.
Thanks!

?+1 to this. Power saver has a dim screen option, so while autobrightness may be turned off, it will be dimmer.

As the title suggests, can you totally kill the LED notification light? I mean stop it working for good.

Why would you even do something drastic like that? :what:
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I could disable it on my x10 mini pro by night for example. But it was cm feature. Possibly linked to kernel also (cm was disabling module controlling led. If I remember well).
It is useful for example by night. When the led try to make you remember "hello, I am charged, I will put this green light in your face for you to know it"
Xperia z led power is still correct, x10 was my morning sun.

Simple... I don't like it
I can't stand the stupid thing being lit at night like 'hey your fully charged, now I'm going to dazzle you till you wake up'. I don't like the fact it doesn't show colours properly since the last update and more than anything else, it looks ugly as hell when it's lit. I initially liked it S my BlackBerry had one, but the BB had the far superior light control and brightness, the colour was more defined too.

droidlight - its all budget all the time but its from Motorola Mobility, so it should be 100% safe to use.
Torch toggle from gravitybox.
Does it make much difference? I am using the Motorola one but I'm wondering why you would ask - do different apps provide a brighter light?
The one I linked above is super simple.open it, the light turns on.open it again, it turns off.easy as could be

I'm not sure what is the Motorola one? Do you mean Droidlight LED Flashlight? Looks it will automatically turn off when screen time is up.

That's the Droidlight LED Flashlight, I saw some comments that it will automatically turn off when the screen time is up, do you have the same issue?
No, but motto puts a time limit on the led. I assume it is to protect the led from over heating.

Been using this one since my Driod 1. Lets you use screen or LED and seems to be very lightweight (would have posted the actual link, but I never really posted to XDA... just mainly read. Need to get rid of the stupid post restriction)
I use the flashlight in Power Toggles. I keep a set of toggles on a lock screen widget (WiFi, sound mode, Bluetooth, flashlight, GPS) and the flashlight is one of them.

TeslaLed, you can set a widget with it that automatically turns it on. It also has strobe options I believe. But it also works great with Tasker as it is built in as a plugin or 3rd party options. I exported an app with Tasker App Factory so I can activate it via voice as well.
