Hi,
I have a prb with my phone. I use the rom Viperone and i have decided to flash the kernel elementalX. After the installation, and after the boot animation, my phone shut down. I can't turn it on. When i press the power button, nothing happened exept the back and home button which twinkled..
When i plug my phone nothing happened.
I tryed to reboot my phone with fastboot :
cd c:\fastboot
fastboot-windows reboot
but i got the message : <waiting for device> and nothing happened.
Thx in advance
You can boot in recovery?
And, have you flashed the right version for the Viper?
No i can't. I see this on a forum :
"She lives! Should anyone with same problem come across this thread in the future, I held down the power button along with holding down both volume up and volume down buttons. This took about 3 1/2 minutes; don't give up. Everything I had read before only said volume down, not sure if that made any difference. The battery needed to be reset. Thanks for all the comments, hope this helps someone in the future"
I tried it. Whe im hlding dow both volume up and down my phone boot 4 sec then he stop. I try this during 4 min always the same : Boot 4 sec, then shut down..boot 4 sec.. etc

Buttons flashing is a good sign, hold your phone sensor under a very bright light (I'm NOT kidding) and press POWER + VOL DOWN, could take 30secs or more to reboot (and you may have to try several times), when it does reboot, keep pressing VOL DOWN to enter bootloader.
Then you'll have to go to recovery (do a "fastboot erase cache" first), and flash a compatible kernel.

While it's rebooting keep holding the VOL DOWN button, so that you can enter bootloader.

As it says on the title, I have just rooted went fine then I just installed ClockworkMod Recovery for the LG Optimus 2X went to go in to recovery powering on and holding the Vol down button and a scrren comes up saying
S/W UPGRADE

then nothing happens tried it a couple of time with no joy, having to remove battery to restart, and also it wiped my phone back to stock all my apps etc gone wifi setting etc but the root/superuser is still there
Any idea people????
That is the baseband upgrade screen. You should HOLD power and volume down button!
If that doesn't work are you sure CWM is installed correctly?

I had this exact same problem as well. It led me to be very confused for a good half hour lol. Simple answer is we weren't booting into recovery properly.
1. Turn the phone off.
2. Hold the volume down button and do not let go.
3. Hold the power button and do not let go.
4. Wait and wait and wait.
5. Should see a small piece of text saying "Android" come up after about 10 seconds-ish.
6. As soon as you see this text let go of the power and volume down buttons.
7. You should now be in recovery.
Hope this helped
Edit: Also I don't think the .bat file used to install CWM recovery gives any confirmation after it's done.

Yeah well i ran the CWM again a couple of times then tried again and it worked great thanks every 1
I just think im impatient as going into CWM on the desire a little bit quicker
Once again THANKS
Had the same problem at first too.
Desire is not as "slow" as the 2X when booting to recovery.
Got myself a factory reset the first time I tried...
Yup exactly, the O2X seems to take much longer than other phones to boot into recovery. I used to have a HTC Hero and it literally took a press of two buttons and then wait a few seconds. Strange...
Made you look!
Yeah I know that the battery is non-removable, but I'm stuck.
I had Renovate nightly installed on my One and on rebooting it went to the HTC logo, then the screen went blank and after a couple of minutes looped.
However pressing the usual power and volume buttons had no effect other than to cause the capacitive buttons to flash.
When I plugged the phone into the pc and tried something ... I can't remember exactly what (not that there's many options) I finally got into the bootloader and then from there into TWRP.
Maybe this is where I went really wrong ...?
Instead of wiping and flashing I decided to just reflash the ROM. everything was good until after the aroma installed where I have the choice of "save logs" or "next" buttons to press, and it froze ... but again any combination of power and volume does nothing just the capacitive buttons flashing at me forever.
On any other phone I've had I'd pull the battery and try all over again ... please help!
...someone ...
Hold the power button for 7 seconds. When the buttons flash, do not let go. It will then force itself off.
If you're in recovery, you can try to use adb command like this:
Code:
adb reboot
or
Code:
adb reboot recovery
.
However, if you've a bootloop, try and try to reboot with the longpress of power button.
And if your rom will not boot, try to flash the kernel in fastboot
Unfortunately holding the power doesn't force reboot, the buttons just keep flashing ... I'll see how long I can hold it for ... again.
And I can't get back to recovery either. it's still in the aroma (kinda waiting for the battery to empty now) obviously adb won't work while in the aroma.
I really don't like these aroma installers, just give me .zip ... they work perfectly for me.

Aroma is cool.
Only with our Phone and, thereotecally, with the S4 will have freeze.
This, because, binary aren't updated for FullHD screen.
However, sooner or later, it will reboot, just try and try
Yeah .. sore fingers, that was about 2 minutes of holding the power button ... entered recovery, flashed a kernel, but still no boot time for a full wipe and reflash I think or try a restoring a backup.

Umh, strange... :/
Maybe try TrickDroid or OrDroid
InsertCoin is good too!
Little trick that I have discovered after having same scary experience where aroma would stuck and no power button or adb would help rebooting.
Press and hold power button for 5+ seconds and then while still holding it press one of the capacitive buttons, either home or back. Voila!

Hey, this is my first post, and i come with a big issue with my HTC One. It's work like a charm, until this evening.
I already flashed two ROM, ARHD 8, 8.1 and 9, without problem, but when i tried to flash 9.1, AROMA freeze. So, no whories, i juste reboot my phone with "adb reboot-bootloader" and did a "fastboot erase cache" and try again. AROMA freeze antoher time (without touching the screen), bad luck i can"t reboot with holding power button. So, again, "adb reboot" (without bootloader this time, it sliped my ming...) and there, it's stock at :
And holding power button don't work (i tried to hold him for 10 minutes...). I tried with adb or fastboot... device not found (logical).
I don't know what to do next, any idea ?
PS : sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand me ^_^

then you have to wait for it to die again then charge. after it charges for a while unplug it turn it on and boot to fastboot and do what i said before.
if your using a touch recovery and flashing a rom that uses aroma only use the hardware buttons(dont touch the screen at all). let it sit on the aroma start screen for at least 5secs. and charge your device enough so you can unplug before you start aroma

Hi,
I tried the regular fastboot method to load CWM recovery.
Whenever it got to the point of loading the recovering, it would just say "flashing recovery on the device...".
Then, when restarting bootloader and clicking on "recovery", it would just shut down the phone.
I decided to experiment to try fix the issue, and I came across this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928551
I downloaded the ZIP file and I ran the root.bat
It flashed some boot images and now my phone wont start
It is stuck on the "warning bootloader unlocked screen" and will not go any further.
Please help . I'm so scared that I've bricked my phone. Is there ANYTHING I can do?
Thanks in advance for the help!
The methods u used can't brick your phone
Reboot in boot loader by pressing the power button and volume - button at the same time. Just at the moment the phone shuts-down/reboot release the power button. It will boot in boot loader. After this flash cwm or twrp again and with the volume down button go to recovery. Select recovery with the volume up key and u are done. Cwm/twrp is flashed and will boot in the recovery.
In recovery I would install the ROM from Omar. It will restore your system and boot.IMG so it will work. Don't forget to wipe data.
If this doesn't work flash the home made fast boot files somewhere in the development section

The above applies when connected with usb.
If I press all 4 buttons without USB connected, it just reboots and gets stuck on the "unlocked bootloader" message again

You should let go only of power button and hold vol.down button (at least for me)
If your PC finds hardware - can you do fastboot devices to check whether it is actually recognized properly?
And last thing - which method you used to load recovery (and were you on ICS\JB)? You were rooted and used automated methods or you unlocked bootloader and wanted to root afterwards (manually through fastboot)?

You are a GENIUS!!! A LIFE SAVER!!! I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. BOTH of your points fixed the phone.
I could never get into recovery becuase I was pressing the power button. I could never get into fastboot becuase I was holding both the power and volume down button.
So, for anyone using a RAZR I... please note the following SIMPLE things:
1) In the bootloader menu, the power button does NOT select the option. The VOL UP button selects the option
2) To boot into BOOTLOADER : Hold both power and vol down buttons until the phone restarts, and then RELEASE the power button, while still HOLDING the volume down button! It will then load the bootloader.
Again, THANKS so so much for reviving my phone for me. I was going crazy without a phone!

Nice that it is solved. I gave u the solution on my first post, but nice that someone els did a better job in explaining it
There is almost no possibilities to brick your device if u only flash things like the boot, system, recovery or data partition. They can he solved very easy. If u flash the other partitions like the radio u can get a problem.

Hi,
I just flashed the last nightly build of cyanogen mod on my HTC ONE.
Everything was successfull, but now I come where I must set my SIM Card code, but the screen doesn't work, I can't press any number.
When I press the power button, I see "reboot" and "Shutdown", but no way to click on them. If I do a long press on the Power button(more than 20sec), Nothing happens.
Since I can't remove the battery, I also can't reboot for now. And with my full battery, no application running, and no connectivity, it will take very long until having no more battery.
Any idea of what I should do now?
Did u check the md5 checksum before flashing? Maybe u can try power and volume down and then flash again or reboot.

Hold the POWER + VOLDOWN under a very bright light (not kidding!), as soon as the buttons start flashing it should take about 30sec to a minute to reboot the phone. (you may have to try a few times, sometimes it works from the 1st time and often takes 4 or 5 tries to get it working)
Once the phone reboots, keep holding VOL DOWN to get to bootloader then recovery, push a ROM using adb push or adb sideload to your phone and flash that. make sure it's not a corrupt download as stated above.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I did something like 7-8 times the operation:
I press on the power button(also tried with the Vol-down button most of the time), I got the < and home button blinking, I keep those button pressed for 1-2 minutes(my finger are officially dead), but nothing happens except this blinking.
I've a backup that I can restore once I'm on recovery.

The blinking is good, means your input (ie press of the buttons is recognized), Are you holding your phone under a very bright light (it's not a joke, the sensor reacts to the bright light), it does help. My phone was stuck too a couple of days, had to put the phone directly under the light bulp and had to try 4 to 5 times POWER + VOLDOWN + bright light and after 30sec to 1 min it reboots.

Flashlight? When I was messing with my phone the daylight was enough to get it going, but half an hour later, as the sun was setting, the reboot no longer worked. had to go to stand under a light bulp (with the sensor directed at it to get the most of light) and the reboot worked again.
If it's booted you should be able to use adb. adb reboot recovery, do wipes, flash a rom (or restore a backup)

Yes I tought of that, but since it's a very fresh install, I don't have USB debug enabled, then adb cannot find the phone. Or is there a way to use adb with usb debug disabled?

OMG, This actually does work! I have a more powerful light here and it actually did work this time! I don't know if this is luck or if this is really because of the ambiant like, but it looks like guru magic for me, thanks a lot! My phone has gone to the recovery and has restored the backup.
I will definitely check the md5 now
