[Q] HTC One soft bricked running 1.31 cant turn s-off - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, I accidently wiped everything on my phone when I was messing around on TWRP. I've downloaded SDK tools, and the 1.29 RUU file, but I need a 1.31 version and I don't know how to turn S-OFF because my phone doesn't recognize when I connect it to my computer. I'm in a bit of a pickle here and I would so so so so appreciative if anyone could help, or at least point me in the right direction.

Hi, to be thorough, first things first,
1- post a screenshot of your bootloader
2- post a "fastboot getvar all" (remove IMEI and s/n)
3- where do actually want to end up? custom ROM , back to stock , etc.

Sorry, I probably should have been more clear. What I want to do is return my HTC ONE backto stock with the RUU file because i accidently erassd all the files on it on TWRP, however I cant use RUU file because my phone needs version 1.31 of the RUU. Here's a picture of my bootloader.

If it's any help, I'm running windows on mac through VMware Fusion.

1.31? Isn't that a Sprint version? If so, better to ask on the Sprint HTC One forum, as it's quite different from the GSM HTC One.
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one
and POSSIBLY http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390821
I'm not familiar with Sprint versions, so sorry can't help. Good luck though

S-Off issues... need help!

i apologize in advance for the noob issues... I am having issues trying to achieve s-off on my htc one. i am rooted right now, running stock 4.3 GPE rom. I have TWRP recovery installed. everything works perfectly. however i would like to do a complete conversion so i will recieve OTA updates from google, and not have to worry about flashing roms. so when i first tried to achieve s-off , i was using revone method. i was getting an error code (-1) then i read that that method wouldnt work, if you were running 4.3. so i then restored my nandroid backup, which i was running 4.1.2. but before flashing my backup i did a system wipe, just to be safe. so i tried revone method again. only now i get error code (-6) so i gave up. but i think when i did my system wipe , i lost my stock back up? so my 2 questions are, where is my nandroid backup? did i lose it when i did a system wipe? and how can i achieve s-off? i am not sure how to tell what firmware version i am running, i didnt see it in settings anywhere, nor do i know what hboot i have (1.44 or 1.54?) how do i tell? thanks guys!

Ok sir, I try to help you.
First, you need to have knowledge with ADB and fastboot, but you should have them both in a folder since you unlocked your device through HTCdev. Then open a terminal and navigate to this particular folder. When you connected your HTC One M7 with the computer and UNINSTALLED HTCSync you can type "adb devices" to ensure you have a connection to your cell phone. Then you have to boot into the bootloader with this command "adb reboot bootloader" and there you see on the first couple of lines your HBOOT version. You'll see it! Then you boot into the recovery from the bootloader and install a ROM from this side that matches a version of rumrunner s off: http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.ch/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html
Secondly then getting updates from Google you need to proceed these steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
This will turn your device into a Google Play Edition!

that helps some, lol. so i now know how to find out what hboot version i have (i'm assuming that because i have 4.3 i am running hboot 1.54).... so thank you! i saw the rumrunner thread for the latest s-off. i will proceed with those steps... as far as completing the full google play conversion that actually sounds pretty easy once you have s-off. i can handle that. ( change cid to googl0001 and flash the new ruu, and stock recovery done!)
so now i just need to know what firmware version i have?
did i delete my back up when i did a system wipe?
To reiterate...
I am on hboot 1.44, rooted running a stock GPE 4.3 Rom. Also, I feel stupid, but I can't seem to find out what firmware version I have? So I have tried twice with no avail. First I tried the typical revone method , but i was getting an error code -1, because I was on 4.3. So I flashed my backup, and returned to my stock rom on 4.1.2, and tried again. This time I was getting an error code -6? So I temporarely gave up, until I saw the rumrunner method here on xda. Worst part is when I returned to stock, I did a system wipe before flashing back to my 4.3 GPE rom, and deleted my backup! So I am nervous about flashing anything else, being that I dont have a backup! Long story short, all I want to do is finish a complete GPE conversion, and I need s-off to change my CID. At this point, all I need to do is achieve s-off, flash the GPE CID, and then flash a stock recovery and I'm done! So any thoughts on how to help me achieve s-off without potentionally bricking this thing?
edit: my build number is JWR66Y.H1 , does this mean I am on 3.07.1700.1

boot to bootloader -> FASTBOOT, connect your phone to PC and it will change to FASTBOOT USB (picture attached)
then type "fastboot getvar all" and post it (remove IMEI and s/n before posting), also post the date it shows on that white screen.

however if I flash a stock rom like the one I have attached, couldnt I just use revone method (./revone -P)?

Why don't you use a RUU and flash the stock recovery, so you can recieve OTA updates and then you can just choose the correct rumrunner s off file and let it do the work. Then you don't really have to worry about the version number and btw. you can simply look it up in the settings. Can you pls ask if I didn't explane it well? Because this is very probable^^

Blue Screen Bricked HTC One - HELP! :(

I tried to update to 4.4, but it gave me a blue screen. I can get into TWRP and Fastboot works.
However, it won't read it as USB on my Windows 8.1, but it sees it on my Windows 7 and OSX. I'm trying everything to get some from of OS running on my HTC One.
Please help me. I'm new to this and I'm scared out of my mind!
If you are soff then connect the phone in fastboot mode and run the google edition ruu.
If not Soff, then post your fastboot getvar all output

I have S-Off, so would I have to sideload the ROM from OSX to my phone?
If you have S-off then either run ruu or do fastboot flash ruu.zip.. Look up nik71 guide how to do that.

[Q] [SOLVED] HTC One RUU Required

Hello guys im new to the forum so sorry for any mistakes I make. Im trying to unbrick an HTC One M7 (S - ON). By using the command 'fastboot getvar version-main' I found out that the image required by the phone is 1.27.206.1 . I have searched for days but I cant seem to find the correct RUU. I did find it in a thread on XDA forum but the link was broken. Can anyone help me? If the RUU is not available is there any other way to unbrick the device?
Thanks in Advance!
FIXED: Read the summary below
I was able to find the correct RUU but the files available were incomplete. So with a lot of help from clsA and nkk71 I was able to find an alternative solution. The solution was to download the Android Revolution HD rom for HTC One and use ADB SIDELOAD to transfer the file in the internal storage From there on it was a piece of cake!

http://www.droidviews.com/check-md5sum-of-a-file-on-windows-mac-and-linux/
I got it im going to check it right now. I just wanted to confirm something. When I download an RUU isnt it necessary that the image number is same. Like my image is 1.27.206.1 so shouldnt i use an RUU with the same image?

with S-ON, you'll need an RUU which is same or higher version for your MID+CID, which can be inferred from the .206. = O2 UK
you have 1.27.206.1, so you need and RUU which is higher (or equal) to 1.27.206.1; the 1.27.xxx.1 would refer to the actual software version information, the .xxx. indicates the carrier-branded, region, etc. if the version is greater or equal to 1.27.xxx.1 and the .xxx. is 206 then you can run it.
PS: you'll also need a locked/relocked bootloader with s-on, for the ruu to work

s-off will be harder to achieve once you update to a 4.xx RUU
as for download managers, there are plenty, if you want a free (and pretty decent one), i usually use FireFox + DownThemAll add-in

I used Internet Download manager and again downloaded the .exe but Its still not working. I have downloaded it multiple times and it even passed the MD5 test. However, when i check the properties of the .exe the size and size on disk are different from each other. They are different only by 300 to 400 KB, does this have anything to do with the problem im having?

if the MD5 check passed (ie the file you downloaded gives an MD5 hash = 4961fdbbadba53c9640f3638f56faec1) then the file is good.
but the 4.xx RUUs are known to be very sensitive to PC configuration, USB ports, etc. so you should try it with a plain vanilla setup of Windows 7 + USB2 port.
Though (just a thought), why not flash a custom recovery and ROM to get your device back to life, (and possibly even S-OFF).... how did you brick it anyway?
can you also post a "fastboot getvar all" (excluding IMEI and s/n)

That sounds good ! Just need to confirm that the bootloader on this phone is relocked not locked. do i need to visit htcdev and follow the protocol to unlock it? secondly by custom recovery you mean CWM or TWRP? I already have TWRP on the phone.

to unlock (with s-on), yes you'd need to HTCdev again, BUT if you already have TWRP installed, i recommend you flash the following ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48955645&postcount=251
you can either push it or sideload it to TWRP, once it boots up, use revone to s-off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
revone will also allow to unlock bootloader
once you have s-off, the options are almost limitless, but please remember to flash only things meant for your phone/modelid ... flashing a wrong hboot for example will end up bricking your phone (not trying to scare you but don't think just cause you have s-off, you can now flash an HTC M8 firmware/hboot)

as long as you already have custom recovery on your phone, it should work (honestly, i've never tried, but it should work)
one of the reasons for HTCdev unlock, is to get a custom recovery on your phone (which you cannot do with S-ON and locked/relocked bootloader)
good luck

Please help, can't get back to stock. No OS build number

So I am trying to return to stock unrooted but when I was trying to find the right RUU to run, I saw that I had no OS build number so I didn't know which one to run. I ran one and soft bricked but was able to recover. Have any of you guys had this happen before? Do any of you guys know a way that I could return to stock? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure why you have no OS. You need to lock your bootloader with fastboot (since you are s-on) and then run the RUU. I'd use this one (first link in OP):

Thanks for responding. I already tried that and it doesn't work since I have no OS build number, I can't run a RUU. When I ran it the first time, it wouldn't let me get past the part after it erase everything because my RUU build numbers didn't match my build numbers so I was soft bricked for a while.

I was trying to change the cid of my m7 but after flashing some files it just stuck on this Grey screen.. the tutorial i was following said that i can use adb commands on this screen but i cant because this phone is recognised as malfunctioning now (after that adb command) in my pc with windows 10.. i don't know much abt these stuff but it would be really helpful if i can revive this phone.

Flashing files to change CID? CID can be changed using "fastboot oem writecid <your_desired_cid>", no file flashing required.
Are you talking about MID change? Hope you did not followed the crappy guide making users flash an eng bootloader?
And why are you trying to change your CID (or MID) on a Sprint phone?

There are much more up-to-date and safer guides to change your MID. Did you read to moderator comment (in red) before reading the guide? The last pages of the thread? The guide you just followed made you flash an engineering bootloader made for the Droid DNA, not even designed for the M7 (hence the gray screen). This bootloader version is 1.39 which mean it will not allow you to connect (use fastboot) with any Windows 8 or 10 computer. So from now you must use a Win 7, XP, Linux or Mac machine to be able to use fastboot commands.
If your goal was to restore the original Sprint MID and CID on your phone that's ok. If you are trying to change your MID/CID to something else than Sprint, this is totally useless since only Sprint RUU will flash correctly on a Sprint phone (no conversion possible for this variant).
What was the error when flashing the RUU?
The first step out of this will be to flash twrp recovery (the wls version) so you can revert your MID back to Sprint and flash an old sprint RUU or firmware.zip.

you'll first need to flash back a Sprint bootloader. Then flash twrp and revert your MID and CID back to sprint using twrp's terminal and finally flash a sprint RUU.
