Hello
Does anyone know if the excess wristband can be cut?
The wristband is either too tight or too loose, for my wrist..
But if i cut the end of the wristband it might not bee too tight.

I think noone tried, nor though of that yet. There is a chance it has some wires running in it, but it's very remote. You will probably use all warranty and I would think twice before doing so.
Guess the only way to find out is to try.... expect the worst case and hope for the best....
I do not take any responsibility for a damaged / broken device or any other immediate issues resulting from my advice!
I sendt an email to Samsung.
Will report back here.

Got an answer from Samsung. It cant be cut, as there are censors everywhere..

Mine was the same way. I just wore it on the tighter of the two and it has actually stretched enough to be comfortable now.

Please read my reply with caution.
IF you mean can you shorten the end with the holes then yes you can as no wires run in that section of the band YOU CANNOT AND MUST NOT cut the end that holds the clasp as that has the wires that connects the speaker and camera cables running as an integral pat of the structure of the band.
Why though do you desire to cut the wrist band? There is a type of pincer that can cut a hole with precision in the band. Ouch I have just checked to see if that is feasible and the holes are too close together to do that. You must have awful bad luck to be 'an in between sizes' with this wrist band as those holes are as close as any I have ever seen. In holding the watch as I write this reply I am unable to see how you can resolve your problem.
Sorry,
kind regards.

If you do that there is a chance the hole you use for the spigot may cause, with pressure, that hole to elongate and tear into the next hole thus you would need to send the gear to a Samsung store for the entire wrist band to be replaced. Just a heads up. :fingers-crossed:

Hi guys
just a quick question about the back of the captivates. When trying to lock in the metal battery cover, my metal cover does not sit flush with the back of the phone, the metal cover sticks out and I need apply pressure to press it down in order to slide up the plastic locking piece. Kinda curious if thats the case with all of the cappys or just mine? THANKS!
How much pressure? I have to kinda push it down but not hard at all, just kinda seat it in there.
when mine rests, its just a couple milimeters out... So yeah, i have to push it in to close it. But its not a considerable amount of pressure, its something a toddler could do . Once its closed though, its nice and snug

Agreed. It's supposed to take a little pressure to open it. If you're just talking about the aesthetic of the phone, I, personally, like the way it looks recessed. I like the metal back enough I hate to use a case that covers it.
I think it's designed to stick up a little for 2 reasons when unlocked.
1. it makes removing the back over a little easier since it is raised and you can place something under it to lift it out (typically your finger)
2. to apply pressure to the latch so it is not lose and does not rattle or make similar noises that bug/worry ppl.
It might also be a side effect to one of the connectors that ground the back cover, as the one on the left side is a pin with a spring underneath it.

Phone portion starts at 3:20 if time stamp doesn't work.
A couple of concerns but I may give it a shot. First, are the speaker grills too small that the spray would create a "covered hole?" Does the unibody construction help or hurt the fact that it cant be opened? They don't have a product that works over glass yet so that would have to be taped over. In the end though, I thing this may be useful for minor spills/soaks. Anyone else?

Wow. An actually waterproof phone. Huh.
Too bad you can't open this phone. This thing is glued together, as far as I know.
Maybe we could get away with just spraying all the openings?
I like. I may have to give this a shot. This will work good for my work boots too.
Wouldn't Rain X work for the glass? I know it works great on my vehicles.

I don't think there's any point to this other than the internals. It leaves a frosted finish. Only spray this where you can see it/don't mid the aesthetics.
On that note: iFixit declared this device un-repairable. So I think the best solution is just to spray this into all the holes. As long as we can be sure that it won't damage the internals.

There's a teardown that shows how to take it apart. You can separate the back of the device, but seems a very tedious process. Best just not to use it underwater
Even if you did spray it, who would want to test it afterwards.

I'm just thinking the ports. If anything, it will buy you a couple of extra seconds to dive into whatever you dropped it in. Hopefully NOT the toilet though.
I saw a few videos of the "one" dismantle and most broke it.
I am amazed by this process

Exactly. You can't take this phone apart. Someone (COMPLETELY RANDOM) said there is an exact temperature at which the phone will disintegrate cleanly. Anyone wanna give it a shot?
And about that video, it has some pretty awkward acting...
I am wondering if you spray a material into the charging ports and headphone jack, isn't that going to hinder any conductivity? And also, won't plugging in and pulling out headphones and the charger just wear the material off? I will not be doing this with my phone, as I see no reason to do so. If you want your phone to work under water, ziplock makes a product for that (and it won't void your warranty.)

Yep. This product requires two coats. We have no idea how it conducts. So chances are it'll screw up your phone. Also, I read in the reviews that it wipes right off non-porous materials (i.e metal and some plastics).
I would not be willing to attempt this mod as the phone doesn't come apart cleanly to properly cover the mainboard as suggested.
Best of luck to anyone that attempts this.

Do you think the speaker grill will pop off in the future? I just realized mine has quite a gap, you can slide a paper in.
But I don't want to resort to warranty since I have already been using it for a month plus, and got stuff working and all.
The grill I have in question is the bottom one.
I don't know how strong the glue supporting the bottom grill is.
if it comes off, stick it back on with superglue

the method of heating the grill and clamping it down (was a thread about it somewhere) is probably an option to try. i might try it on mine too since the gaps are getting big..

Dang.. That sounds kind of too much for me. I guess I just gotta put my faith on HTC's glueing process or hopefully it pops off at least before my warranty.
yea..just use superglue..
i use those very liquid glue to stick it back..now its gapless...just apply very very little and its enough..
just wanna avoid the liquid from dripping to the speaker girll..^^

Wow how did you managed to get the glue inside the gap? I mean I know it's quite a gap, but I don't think it's THAT wide to be able to squueze glue in..
Are the gaps really that much of a concern? I have a bit of a gap on the top speaker grill, but I have a case on the phone too. I don't even notice it now. I'm more concerned about the durability of "Gorilla Glass." I've had 3 iPhones now and I've never scratched my screen. I've owned the HTC One for a month and I've got two scratches already...

thats why u have to use liquid glue..just apply a little the on gap and quickly press the grill to close the gap
and of course quickly wipe off the glue that you pressed out..

For me it's more of a durability thing. I'm just afraid it will pop out from the glue losing it's strength in the future.

Well, if you're gonna use instant glue, you're prolly gonna end up sticking your fingers to the thing... so.
It might work if you have someone else hold it upside down and you're REAL careful.
The warranty is there for a reason. Use it.

Move slowly in every step
alright first, power off tablet
locate the two screws, one in each docking port ( be careful of the screws they are very tiny ) ONLY TWO SCREWS TOTAL
use the screwdriver to push towards the glass from inside the docking port. ( be careful, push slowly the glass is only held down with plastic clip )
Use prying tool to lift up the glass, focus on the area thats loose.
apply a thin layer of glue ( i used Krazy glue ) to the glass edge
push glass back in place and screw the screws back
I should have taken pictures

Sorry, no, I had to send the third one back to because a loud crack is to be heard when softly whincing the tablet. I'm not going to repair faulty devices on my own as long as there is warranty.
Now I wait for the next charge of TF701 (newer than 11.2013) to see if Asus has addressed this problem.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I have no idea how to seperate the lcd from the digitizer. My problem is much worse than a lose bezel. The tablet fell and well..shattered. Digitizer is gone but LCD is ok. So I found on ebay a digitizer on it's own but before buying it, I want to first know how to seperate the LCD so I can reuse it.
Attached is the disassembled LCD + Digitizer.
I got to this part but can't figure out how to take out the LCD. I don't know if you can see, but there are like plastic clips all around the LCD. How do I take it out? I am not even sure if it is taped or not at this point. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
There are a couple of good videos on YouTube about screen replacement on the TF300 and 700 - which are basically the same. One is by FixPhone Land, the other by AJ parts UK. The latter is the better one IMO.

I got to the part where I have the glass/digitizer/lcd bit in my hand but I will not go through the effort of seperating the glass from the digitizer. A new digitizer and glass will cost €105 with shipping, and I do not think it is worth repairing. I will assemble it and sell it as broken for parts.
Thanks anyway.
hi everyone,
i'm trying to reassembly my Z3 compact but now the bottom speaker is not working even after i place back the middle frame to make contact. as you all knows, the bottom speaker only works when you put back the middle frame because the contact to mainboard are in there.
well, if you check the photos you'll see that one part of the middle frame is broken, even after i placed the middle frame back same as it was the bottom speaker still not working (no sound)
is that have to do with the broken part of the frame?
anyone knows how exactly the bottom speaker make contact to mainboard in order to work?
also what are the side pins surrounding the mainboard? (those pins make contact with the middle frame too)
PLEASE ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA LET ME KNOW
THANKS FOR ALL.
If I'm not wrong 2 pins right next to speaker are those You are looking for and silver part of frame is used to connect speaker to those pins. Rest silver lines are GPS or WiFi antenna.
All u need is some basic soldering skills and thin wires to connect the speaker directly from the board (don't have the images but my speaker is connected like this). It's very easy. And for the broken middle frame-u gonna need to glue it together and work on those gray antennas (use the wire again and solder it again)

yeah, i tested the wiring and the speaker worked. i can do soldering.. i've been doing that 10s of years ago!
well, for the antenna if i leave it like that u think i'll get a bad wifi signal?
i might order a new frame, i found it as OEM SONY for $11 + $3 shipping fees.
do you think when i buy the new frame the speaker will work again after i place that frame firmly ?

I am not sure for either of those questions :/ U just might solder it and it's good to go (speaker) As for antenna, just reassemble it and see how's the signal. Maybe you don't need another frame at all
Sure, You can wire it but then You must insulate silver contacts on frame to avoid short circuit. Other way ~15$ for frame is not that much if You want to be done like it should.

The frame became a bit messed it up after i tried to remove the silver contacts of the speaker with the soldering gun, the plastic became a bit popped, and bumpy, and it's not as flat as it should be, so it might bother the back cover from being sealed firmly, and there would be pressure that could risk cracking it, so i'm deciding to get me a new replacement frame
thanks for your time and advises guys...

Saying insulate I meant seal it with some tape or scrape with some knife.

make sure the 2 pins on the mainboard aren't bent down, because this would prevent them (or one of them) to make contact with the silver part of the frame that make bottom speaker works!

while I was trying to make sure that the pins are not bent and the make contact with the metal in the plastic frame, I have managed to unstick one from the motherboard. so now definitely I know that I have one more problem. before I break anymore more, I will give up trying to fix it.
