[Q] Root on Froyo 2.2.1 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
Today i attempted to root my device using odin3 v1.85 , using CF root.
I used the following package: CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1
However, when i rebooted, superuser was there, and i was happy.
So i installed ROM manager, and flashed CWM. Rebooted in recovery, flashed update.zip, and had cwm recovery.
Tried to flash a ROM, but it failed (error 0). So now that i want to get in my root (/cache/recovery/) I get acces denied.
So i think i did not root my device properly.
Here is all my device information:
Samsung Galaxy S i9000
Android Version: 2.2.1
Smallband: I9000XXJPY
Kernel: [email protected] #1
Build-number: FROYO.XXJQ3
If someone could help me to root and install CM10.1.3, that would be great.
Thanks,
Rinse

Please follow the way that described this link: https://phanse.wordpress.com/2013/0...ghtly-experimental-m-series-rom-sgs-gt-i9000/
You sould select CM10.1.3 (http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/jenkins/42499/cm-10.1.3-galaxysmtd.zip) instead of nigthly and corresponding gapps from goo.im/gapps (http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip).
After first flash of CM phone gets bootloop. Please remove battery, restart your phone to recovery. Reinstall CM, install gapps and factory/data reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache and reboot. That's all.

Rooting Samsung i9000 DXJPA and installing Cyanogenmod using Heimdall

Hi all,
I want to root my Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 and install Cyanogenmod 9 on it.
I'm using a Mac and will be using Heimdall.
The problem is I don't know where I can find the correct version of Clockworkmod for my phone. Can anyone point me in the right direction? My phone details are below:

Also, is installing CWM actually rooting my phone or do I need to do something else?
Thanks!

If I do update to 2.3.6, how does that get me closer to rooting my phone?

Yes, because you need the gingerbread bootloaders to install CMx anyway. So do this.
1. Upgrade to 2.3.x with kies or Heimdall. Doesn't matter.
1a. Put the appropriate cm9 files in your SD card. (Gapps, ROM)
2. Flash semaphore or devil kernel .tar files under pda in Odin. Not sure about heimdall sorry!
Note: Please note that recovery is packaged with the kernel on this ROM, so flashing a kernel changes your cwm as well.
3. Now, you phone won't boot, no big deal. All we need is the recovery. Reboot into recovery and flash the cm9 file.
4. Now wipe data / factory reset
5. Reboot, Rejoice, enjoy
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
flash semaphore kernel with odin
then flash cm from here download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxysmtd&type=stable

[Q] [SOLVED]Bootlooping Stock

Hey Guys
This might sound dumb but I hated custom 4.2 ROM's so I wanted to go back to 2.3.6 as it is fast. I had JW4 in my PC and I installed it with repartition and it installed but bootlooped even after I factory reset and cleared cache. I got JW6 later and installed but it bootlooped too.
I first tried with repartition and then without repartition on both firmwares but no help. :crying:
Solution: After installing stock install dbdata.rfs and it boots...
Try to install JVU first

you should post your error log, for correct answers, since only bootloop, look in My Android Solution (link below), under boot loop for solution or use arescue kit from My Android Collection, link below too

If you have flashed with re-partition checked in Odin, you should have choosen PIT file for your i9000 under "PIT" besides the ROM! Did you do that?

Look in My Android Solutions, link below
[27] Problem:- ClockworkMod Recovery giving Status 7 error "Installation aborted".
Solution:- One or some of the prerequisite requirement for the needed upgrade is missing or corrupted . So you may need to identify and replace that requirement for the installation to continue. Most likely could be due to wrong bootloader, wrong CWM, Wrong IMEI, Wrong Radio etc
JellyBean Roms would require at least version 5 CWM. IF you are in Froyo, you need to upgrade to GB for bootloader upgrade too

[Q] Which CF ROM to choose?

Hello everyone,
I have been searching for hours now trying to figure out which CF Rom to use for my phone.
Handset: Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000M)
Version: Android 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9000UGKG3
I upgraded the phone to 2.3.3 via Kies, rooted with SuperOneClick and installed ROM Manager from Google Play. Installed Clockwork Mod. When I try to boot into clockwork mod, it goes to the stock recovery screen. If I try to apply "update.zip", I get that dreaded "failed to verify whole-file signature" message.
I know I need to eliminate the 3e signature verification, but cant seem to locate the CF ROM file I need to flash it with to revert back to 2e. A link would be excellent if someone knows the location.
Ultimately, I am trying to get this phone to ICS or JB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so very much... That was EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Anything like that package for the I9100M?
I see recovery FWs in there, but nothing with CWM & Root.
GT-9100M
Currently Android 4.0.3 (would like to get up to JB)
Baseband Ver.: UGLD3

A bootloop after another !

so i found out that working with a 4.2.2 version of android is making my device extremely laggy, so i basiaclly completely formatted everything via windows from my mobile and decided to start fresh, i want to downgrade, i know how to do it and all,but it keeps getting stuck in a boot loop when i flash this

}
so anyway i went on to another trial which is this one and odin wouldn't go through the installation
so i tried to download a zip rom and install it after adding a kernel, and it just keep restarting the phone when i try, all i need is a smooth rom with a suitable version of android for my i9000, if you can't answer, just post a link to a rom.
You need to install stock rom first, then add cwm, then install! If you just do this 4.2>2.3 you will get a bootloop
I didn't saw your 2 pic.
stupid question.. have you wiped?

i am installing the stock rom, and is it really important to get the stock rom for my country ?
i am installing a kernel before the stock rom, maybe that would work and yes i am downgrading from 4.2.2 to 2.3
