Do you really think Samsung would release the gear 2 3 months after releasing the original gear? I say AT LEAST 6 months before another one is released.
Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk 4

Yes , apparently Samsung is working on another.
Either rumor can be true or false.
A. A cheaper version without the camera and maybe other sacrifices.
B. Another version with an updated UI possible flexible display.

Yeh they though it was flop
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

The fact that they are working on a gear 2 means nothing in terms of launching date. It can be starting the design for all we know. No reason to believe on a jan launch. At least I don't think it's going to happen.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I also heard they are planning to release one not too far off the original's launch. I don't remember where I saw that tho.

They always overlap development to allow regular releases. But the Gear is still their "first"

Stupid rumors going around about S5, Note 4, Gear 2... they're not releasing new stuff just a few months later, not happening. The nearest blip on the radar is probably S5 with a Spring 2014 release.

There was a rumour a few weeks ago where a Samsung source said they were looking to move the Gear 2 release up to January in response to the negative feedback on the Gear.
Whether that's true or not remains to be seen.
I'm keen to get the Gear, but the recent issues with moisture in the camera lens is putting me off. I live in Thailand, so humidity is an issue, plus I'm frequently going from humid outside to cold air conditioned indoors.
Plus, I sweat a lot...
I think I'll wait to see whether the lens moisture is a problem in more humid climates and if it is, wait for Gear 2.

Why do all the CDMA users get the good stuff? The CDMA GNex had 32gb while the GSM version was stuck with 16gb. Now they do it again with the N4?

And what type of carriers could we expect to see this on? I don't think Google wants another Verizon and Sprint Nexus after what happened with the Galaxy Nexus

It doesn't make sense to release unveil Android 5.0 with a Nexus 4.

Can some one please tell me how exactly this is good news? That's like buying a car with small trunk space and weak transmission then the same car makers release the exact same car with more trunk space and stronger transmission. But here's the kicker: there's no recalls, so you bought the first car and now you're gonna spend money and but the better version of the SAME EXACT FREAKING CAR! Is there anyone else with common sense who gets what's going on or is XDA full of rich people that like throwing away money?

I want make a direct comment on this, but you're honestly not making much sense. That being said, I'll try my best:
People who bought the original Nexus 4 aren't also buying the new updated Nexus 4, it's more for the people who are on Verizon or Sprint, who are unable to use the Nexus 4 on that network. It's like releasing a European version of the car so that people in Europe can buy it, too, you know, with the steering wheel on the opposite side and fun stuff like that, keeping in line with the metaphor.
Not sure what you're referring to as the "weaker transmission" here either, but with regards to the "trunk space," no one was forced to buy the initial 16GB Nexus 4, as there was almost every other phone option out there with SD cards, etc. if you really cared about space. Plus, I feel most people like myself did know that a 32 GB Nexus was coming out months later during the I/O possibly, prior to buying the Nexus 4 as they did do this with the Galaxy Nexus as well.
I was under the impression that n4 already has lte you just have to activate it in the hidden menu or something like that.

Either I am misreading thread title or the content in the article as none of them state that this device will actually be launched:
"Looks like Google has heard users complaining so the company is rumored to unveil an updated Nexus 4 in its Google I/O event, which begins on May 15."
So as I see there's a word "rumour" which was also misspelled

Lucky bastard.
I bought an Active on 8/9, and by 8/13 I was in an AT&T store replacing it with a new Active. That Active only lasted until 8/16. Worst part was that I was on vacation the whole time and unable to use my phone during a 17 hour drive home from Florida. The memory card still works but I'm done with Samsung's poor quality control. This isn't the first poorly made Samsung I've owned or had issues with, but it will be my last.
nice article. I like and get information to this post. keep it up.:good:
I am wondering if the one time replacement is a new phone or a refurbished phone? Has anyone tried this out yet?

Just because this phone isn't popular doesn't mean Samsung won't update it. Hell they send updates out for the rugby and the other oddball Samsung phones that att has. I am thinking we will at least get 4.3 when the original s4 does which is slated for next month.

sure but my point is why worry about something that doesn't have an available update yet? Usually leaks happen before updates are even released OTA. I would wait until we have a 4.3 update to see if we can get it somehow or if there is an odin flash or what. I am sure we will have a way soon... just hold on you may not be able to upgrade the MF3 but probably other releases.

Samsung's official statement on the matter says that
"Samsung designed and tested the Galaxy S 4 Active to adhere to IP67 standards for water resistance (1 meter for 30 minutes). If your Galaxy S 4 Active has been damaged due to water exposure, bring it back to an AT&T retail store as soon as possible for a one-time exchange for another Galaxy S 4 Active."

Gear any good?

Hi All.
Juat git the note3. Thinking about the gear but heard some dodgy reviews..whats the verdict?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Verdict is that for the "version 1" device Samsung made great hardware - much better than anything else available on the market like sony, pebble, etc
and for the firmware - using rom developed by fOmey the functionality is GREAT - much better than the stock rom. It is all related to Your local preferences, but in fact with the custom rom You are getting miniature tablet! Read the ROM thread - at least OP and You will see how much had been achieved just in one month.
I really like the device, and the functionality superb!
It was kinda boring stock, but it's pretty awesome rooted.

It's very good stock with the latest update, it's unlimited with the null firmware. The future of the gear owners is great because we have no knox trigger, no region lock, we have root we have twrp and a great rom developer. And we have ( semms so..) the attention of samsung regarding the updates/improvements.

With respect this is am impossible question to answer. Read the specifications and if it fits your requirements then it will be fine for you. Its totally subjective and down to personal taste and what your expectations are. No single person can answer your question only you.
For example why did you purchase the note 3? That is also a very personal taste and again a subjective purchase.
I have owned them both from day one and so far enjoy them though neither are special in my own opinion (again subjective). They do what I require of them so they fit the bill in my case. I dislike the quality of construction of the note 3 and the GG could potentially have some issues with moisture. Read the threads here and providing you use caution with the GG you may enjoy it? Some don't some do.

Apps (or lack of)

Are any fellow Gear users slightly disappointed by the lack of new apps appearing in the official Samsung store? Like, I'd love a Spotify app that showed the name of the track/album art etc...
I know unless I can program (which I can't), it's not going to happen. It seems the update for dev's is really slow :/
I was just thinking that today. I am less impressived now that the excitement of a new device is over
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I just got the gear 2 days ago and I expected much more from sammy. Altho I should have learned my lesson getting the note 1 opening day and I was in this very same situation, awesome new device that might as be a paper weight. The few apps there are are littered with bad reviews or they are the pointless. Sucks

samsung store has been empty since day one. i do not expect it to change anytime soon. there is still no official SDK available to developers. we can make apps for android that will work on gear by sideloading, but we can't use all of it's features..
An SDK will not come any time soon.... Only to selected partners Sammie choose...

Considering how powerful the hardware is, Sammy should be really pushing this with an SDK. Unless they are planning to load the gear up with missile blasting codes, they should cut the secrecy and get everyone to start developing, or hang around while iWatch or Pebble 2 or Google Watch or whatever comes and takes away the advantage.

Yep, these are probably the Gear 2 and Gear Neo... later will probably be the Gear Fit. I'm glad it doesn't look too different from my Gear watch... as I'm not ready to shell out more loot yet.

Tizen on the new gear is a dead nogo imediately for me that is, I can imagine no apps for this thing and since tizen dont have an app store tell me how will we sideload apps from google play to it? The whole point was to make it slimmer and better. It looks the same. Looks thick like the gear and now its running tizen? Hell nah. Ill have to test it out and look more into it for me to buy it. Considering tizen is the os. I think I'll stick with my gear
