Can someone test to see if this works on the AT&T Note 3? You dial *#*#4636*#*# and then you can change the network mode. I am just curious if it sticks. For example, if you tap on WCDMA/GSM auto, you'll only get 2G/H+.
Would appreciate it if someone can test this out. Thanks

I don't think that dialer menu is available in touchwiz. You should have the option of changing your preferred network type from the settings menu though

It is. It's not available on non tw roms. AT&T takes out the network mode option in the settings.

I think that's backwards. I've always had that accessibility on my nexus devices but I've never seen it mentioned for a TW ROM.

Yea the menu is there here's a pic of the options for the AT&T note 3. I use it frequently while at work and set mine to lte only so I'm not bugged with phone calls but still have internet and text. It stays active until you turn off data, turn on airplane mode, reset the phone, or switch it back via that menu. There is also a wcdma preferred option at the top that wouldn't fit in the picture. Enjoy

Unable to get LTE after Un-rooting
Sorry if this does not appear to belong here, but since I have un-rooted my AT&T Galaxy Note 3 (N900A) using the Root de la Vega One-Click with N900AUCUBMI9 I have note been able to get LTE back. My device defaults to HSPA/HSPA+. After using #*#*4636#*#* in Testing Menu -> Device Information, I cannot even change the preferred network type to anything that contains LTE in it - only GSM or WCDMA preferred is accepted.
I would appreciate any help whatsoever.
Thank you in advance

Try booting the phone without your SIM. Might let you do it. If not your going to have to redo Odin back to stock again.

Doesn't seem to be a way to turn LTE off to conserve battery. I mean, you can turn off Mobile Data all together but that seems to be the only option.
On previous phones I have always tried to go through the day with the slowest data possible to conserve battery, then when I am surfing on need the faster data, I just turn it on.
At least in the Canadian version we have the option to not pick LTE. In settings->Wireless & Networks -> mobile networks -> Network mode
These instructions for the Thunderbolt work. It's a bit much to go through every time you want to switch, though.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-htc-thunderbolt-forums/70282-how-turn-off-lte.html
*Edit*
Nevermind. It appears that you cannot change the default Preferred Network Type on this phone with that method.

Unfortunately the AT&T Phone does not have the Network Mode selection although I would guess once we get these phones rooted and what not we will probably see Rom's for AT&T That have that option included.
This would have been nice to do for those of us without LTE at the moment.
Also in the same boat wanting to turn off LTE and go to HSPA+ or even just Edge while I am in the office not using the device for anything other than text. Phone taken off charger at 8am and is now in the yellow range.
Can someone with a rogers version do the temp root, and then pull their settings apk for us? Would that do it if we install?

I'll play with it on the Vivid but on the Aria, if I changed it and either toggled airplane mode or rebooted it would usually switched to what I changed it too. It would not change immediately after changing it in diagnostic mode.

No 3g on vivid. Only LTE, HSPA+, and Edge.
I'm going to the try logging in as well and will try the switch when i get the phone. Post up if you've had luck with either of them and if you've seen an increase in battery life.

Changing the APN will drop you off LTE. yay finally found a way!You can even then use the *#*#4636#*#* phone pref method to turn it to WCDMA and have it still. I hjope that means it turns off the LTE radio entirely. Will see with battery life.
Thanks... hopefully this helps battery life a bit.
That is my ONLY complaint about this phone so far... well that and the locked bootloader.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to force my phone to stay on EDGE. I have good EDGE signal but it keeps jumping to GPRS.

I don't have my note yet, but in SGSII. If you go to settings>>wirelsss and network>>Mobile Networks>>Network Mode, Choose GSM only, it should always stay in Edge.

well I'm using a unlocked GNote on Tmobile so for now no way getting 3g anyway but in a area where I have full bars on Edge sometimes it switches to GPRS which I'm trying to prevent.
I think it depends on network, n even i dont believe it have relation with nwtwork bar. You will get edge or gprs according you are connected with network. So it is metwork dependent. I dont think you can change it manually, as both are comes under 2g. We can chose 2g/3g, but afaik we cant select subtype.

you can try with this hidden menu, in the phone dialer input:

Codes won't work on aosp roms.
After trying searching today countless apps and signal booster apps i finally found one that worked. I tried Viaero Toggle app from the play store and now have a constant 4g signal. I have tested 2 methods on the app. Tried a method setting my preferred network to just LTE and CDMA/LTE. Setting it to just LTE works except you have an X over your signal bars, CDMA/LTE doesnt.
1. Download the Viaero toggle app
2. Select phone information
3. Scroll down where it says preferred network
4. Select LTE or LTE/CDMA
This is for people who KNOW their supposed to have an LTE connection. I used to own a GS3 and had a constant LTE signal. Switching to the ONE my LTE constantly jumps from LTE to 3G which was my biggest gripe. Now I'm in love with my ONE all over again. So if you know you have this issue. This will help trust me.
Let me know your results. I really want to work for everyone because this has been pissing me off for the longest. I had even switched out for a second HTC one and they both had signal issues. If it doesnt help let me know and we can try other methods for different people.
The 2 pics i attached is one with just LTE and the other is LTE/CDMA
You know that X over the signal bars mean you no longer have a voice connection right? Kind of defeats the purpose of a phone

The better way of doing this would be to use the ##DATA# shortcut (provided you have your MSL), but you certainly can do this.

Neither the App nor the menu has provided 4G / LTE. Funny thing is that on 4.3 ROM's I don't get LTE, but 4.2 and lower it's a non-issue. Any ideas?
Funny thing is I have no APN's. When I try to manually add them they don't save.

We made the switch to T mobile yesterday from ATT. Currently using one N900T and one N900A. The N900A seems to lose the 4G / LTE icon in the home sometimes, yet the application Network Signal Info shows it connected to the same LTE tower as my N900T. The N900A gets DNS error message when the 4G/LTE icon is not present, yet Signal Info shows it connected to LTE. Anyone know what is going on please? Thanks.

I am thinking the N900A does not have the menu to change :
From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button
Go to "Settings"
Tap the "Connections" tab
Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
Select one of the following options:
LTE / WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
WCDMA only
GSM only
You can't edit the 900A APN, but you can add an APN, then delete the old one.

I have found that if you put the T mobile SIM in, boot the phone up, let it get a data connection, then restart the phone again, it usually will pull it's correct APN settings from the carrier just fine.
i unlocked mine at cellunlocker.net and typed in the code and the tmo APN was set automatically and i have LTE, with no problems.

I reviewed my wife's N900A with T mobile sim card in it, the APN was actually set to T Mobile but some fields were different to my N900T on T Mobile. I do not remember which lines to be honest, I just copied mine on to hers. I think the field APN type on hers was just set to "default" where as mine is set to "default, mms, supl" .
I also believe her APN was not "fast.t-mobile.com" .
Her N900A seems to be picking up good LTE now, just originally when I first powered it up after unlocking the LTE icon would come and go in the home. I was thinking perhaps the N900A stock does not have all the radios available?
If there's any info I would greatly appreciate it. While on LTE only mode I cannot receive or make calls
I have played with the settings and got it to work a few times flashed different roms, and reverted to stock but nothing I have tried works.
When I turn it to auto or lte/GSM I can receive calls but it auto answers?
And It struggles to get LTE back without me setting it back.
Any info would be great.
Debating on weather I should go back to the nexus.

When you say LTE only mode, how are you getting LTE only mode?
So in Call you have "Use VoLTE when available" ticked off and then in More networks\Mobile networks\Network mode you have LTE/WCDMA/GSM ticked correct?

So if you ODIN to COD6 and don't put in that code and just use the settings I listed above does it work? Is that when you say it Auto Answers?
It has always worked perfectly for me using those settings and not trying to force it with any codes.
Just to make sure you know, it is working if you make a phone call and you continue to see the 4G LTE icon in the status bar. Not being able to make or receive calls may be related to you trying the code instead of letting it work like it does out of the box.
