Hello guys,
I'm very interessting in getting the galaxy gear but first I want to know if it is possible to connect a bluetooth headset to the the watch after installing the nova launcher, and also install a music player and store some music in the 4go storage. otherwaise the MOTOACTV is more interresting watch.
Thanks
It is possible to connect Bluetooth headset with Gg, was a topic right here. I don't think the launcher metters,Nova or touchwiz but maybe some of other feature will.not work without touchwiz. But why to copy music to watch.. I don't get it. Just buy a cheap 16 or 32 GB microsd and you have a lot of space for music...

I use my Sony bluetooth headphones for music with my gear. Go to bluetooth and change the bluetooth profile of the gear to be calls only. If your headphones have a mic you can answer on your gear and then send the call to your headphones using the call options options on the gear.

I would like to connect my Bluetooth headphones for running and exercise. I can play mp3 (rooted Gg and sideloaded apks). How do I stream audio to my stereo Bluetooth headset? The gear doesn't have a scanning option to search for available Bluetooth pairing devices. It only has the option to make the gear discoverable and enable\disable Bluetooth. The GN3 only has 1 option under bluetooth profile settings, enable/disable call audio. If you uncheck, the gear disconnects from the GN3. No options available for media under bluetooth settings. Please assist. This was my primary reason for purchasing the watch.
Thanks in advance

1st of all, thanks for the reply. :good:
I would prefer to get this same functionality from the Gear if possible, without spending another $200-$250 for another gadget with a singular purpose.
Since this is a developers site, the watch is rooted, has confirmed mp3 player capability and has bluetooth, I was hoping someone could address it from a software aspect. It needs A2DP audio streaming to the bluetooth headset directly from the watch. Is this possible?

I guess you will have to wait few months to see if that's possible. For me I couldn't wait but in the end I m quite disapointed with the device especially when using the app runtastic

Yeah, I think Runtastic needs GPS to be truly beneficial. I read some where that the Gear 2 will have GPS, wifi and better battery life. It supposed to be in development now for a possible 1st quarter 2014 release.

Hi
I was just wondering if this, or any other smartwatch, can be used in conjunction with bluetooth headphones? Or can only one bluetooth device be connected to phone at the same time?
This could prove to be a massive dealbreaker for me.
Cheers for any info
Good question as I have a set of Motorola Bluetooth headphones.

I could swear that I read somewhere someone has a note 3 paired with a gear and using some Bluetooth headphones. I believe they claim they can user the controls on either the headphones and watch to make and receive calls. So, could use the watch to answer and would be using the Bluetooth headset for the mic and speaker.

I mean it doesn't really make much sense to not have that. Would be ideal being able to see who is ringing via the watch but speaking and listening via the headset.
That IMO is what it's all about. Not many people are wanting to talk into their watch and listen via a loudspeaker

That is not possible except if you have a Note 3 or a Note 2 with the leaked 4.3 from Samsung
I have a Note 8 3g with I use as main phone-tablet during working days, 4.2.2, and acquired a gear. Everything (more or less....) was working except the handling of the bluetooth headset. It maybe related some software piece from Samusung included on the official 4.3.
I have seen the update on 4.3 plan and my device looks not included until maybe end of the year or early next January.... uff, sami, you are loosing a customer.
Finally, after test with 2 diferent gears, I have decided to acquire a sony smartwatch sw2 which works like a charm with the note 8 3g. You can imagine for me, using the tablet 8" as phone, that no possible without a bluetooth headset. The other option was to talk through the watch and it looks stupid and no possible to have confidentiality in the calls.....

I used my LG Tones+ headset to pair up while my watch was also paired. It does work, but I had to press a button on my headset to let it know to go to that device. By pressing the headset button while in the call, the watch picked up the phone call first, then I pressed a button on my Tones headset to get it over to that. By answering the the Tones headset, it goes straight there.

What phone and android version do you have?
Ok well its good to know it can work.. I will wait until my Note II gets updated and see if the agent smartwatch/gear 2 have to offer before I decide.
In no rush but I'll probably get a smartwatch at some point. I just don't want it to affect usage of my bluebuds x bluetooth earphones.
On my N3 I have both a Gear and my car stereo blue toothed at the same time. All works fine.

This. I forgot about this. I have Ford Sync and it works fine as well. I answer texts using S Voice on my watch and still make phone calls over Sync.
I am using the Gear in combination with a Note 3 and a Pair of Sony MDR-1RBT's and they work flawlessly. The Gear doesn't interfere with Bluetooth Audio on the phone.

Hi,
IF this is the case why spend a fortune on the gear and not make use of its potential? Why not purchase the new Sony 11? That would give you the notifications you require plus the ability to use a BT head set?
Just a thought.

I don't think its very feasible for the vast majority of people to use the watch as a loudspeaker/phone for privacy issues + annoying everyone else.
I wasn't planning on getting the gear anyway as I don't think it's a good buy. (Given its price). I plan to wait until the gear 2 or agent smartwatch arrive. It would also be nice to also be able to use it see change tracks, view album art/info for music too while listening to music through bluetooth earphones too.
In essence, I don't agree that being forced to speak to the watch on loudspeaker in front of everyone is using the watch to its potential. I find this more a massive drawback than a positive. Being able to use my earphones to listen is, IMO, the full potential.
Hopefully this will be the case with all these watches, as it is the most logical.
It works for me now. The gear and my BT works now since I got back on to MI9 firmware

On the chinese GV09s / (U8 ?) phone, you can successfully connect a BT headset directly
In BT dialer, you can select 'new device' and next put your BT headset in pairing.
The BT headset can be used for 'local music', (SIM) direct phone, radio etcetera. It works nice
Hi peoples!
I recently got my pebble and installed the app, but since I installed the app I've noticed something odd with my phone. When any bluetooth device connects, media playback will switch from the speakers to the earpiece, and bluetooth headsets wont play/control music anymore. When connected to wired headphones itll play, but the default audio buttons will change the call volume, not media. After 10-30min it reverts to how it should be...at least until a new bluetooth connection is made. This persists whether pebble is connected or not, or if the app is installed or later uninstalled. Is this something to do with the pebble's connection to the phone, and if so is there any way to fix it? I've tried a full system reset on the phone and it's good for awhile, then changes again. Is it possible to just reset the audio drivers?
For some background information, I'm using a Galaxy S4 (Verizon) running 4.3 and no custom/root software. Both the Pebble app and firmware are up to date (as of 12/10/13), and accessibility services are turned off.
I'd appreciate any help I can get, thanks in advance!
What media apps are you using? Some apps such as BeyondPod have a setting on whether they send the song info to the bluetooth device or not...turning this setting off will correct some issues.
Note 3 -- Tapatalk
I got my Pebble two days ago and I've used it twice so far in my car with no problems. I use a Bluetooth receiver which I plug into my cassette adapter since I don't actually have a car system that has Bluetooth. I've also been able to control the music from the watch with no problems. I use a N5.
I got a N4. No problems over here. I would look over the settings of whatever apps you use! And play around with those.

Let say I do like running. So is it possible to connect directly bluetooth headphones to the gear to play music while I am running and not to carry GN3 with me?
Do you not need to have the gn3 with or close to you to be able to use the gear since the gear is connected to the Phone through bluetooth?

No, I have Null Rom on my gear. I would like to put some music to the gear and go running with it. I dont need Note 3 with me.
That is why I ask is it possible
i own a bluetooth headset, gear discovers it but it's unable to connect.
now this might due to some missing stuff of android. i'm still on old null 11 that works well for me so i see no reason to upgrading now, but perhaps it's possible with newer version?
i would like to be able to stream music from it as well.. running with note 3 in your pocket is not really confident.
This would be nice but we seem to be limited on Bluetooth connectivity in the USA. I know that you can put music files and play them through the Gear's speaker, by sideloading programs like Apollo, it works really well.
I would like to be able to do this also. On Null rom 15 currently, have sidloaded many apps, one of which is poweramp. I can also sideload MP3's, but if I can't pair my BT headphones it doesn't do much good. Hoping someone can find a way of using BT headphones with the Gear as a stand alone.
F0mey hasn't been able to get a Bluetooth profile that works for this
You can ofcourse put music on (only 4gb storage though!) and sideload a music app
Please help me out in this
I own a galaxy gear and a Bluetooth headset , i would like play music on galaxy gear and hear it on bluetooth headset. So my question is it possible to connect galaxy gear to Bluetooth headset. Pls help me out, I'm 13 yrs old so be more specific.
Thanx in advance

You can do this if you change your gear over to tizen. I am now running tizen and have two apps for media, one called media controller (controls media on the phone) the other called media player (allows gear to run as a stand alone media player with bluetooth headphones)
I'm not sure if it will work or not but this app has let me pair problematic headsets with certain stubborn devices in the past https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.qrr.android.btoolkit
It's worth a shot installing on the gear and testing....
i heard Null rom unlocks the BT stack and allows you to connect to other BT devices just like a normal Android device?? is this true or we really have to move to tizen?

Null does allow pairing with some bluetooth profiles such as hid. I've successfully paired and used a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the gear. However a bluetooth headset, speaker or headphones requires a2dp profile. This is missing in the android version but available with tizen.
I'd love to have this function working with null as the hardware is obviously capable of it. I'm not prepared to give up null for this function as it would mean giving up lots of other functions I enjoy. I'm guessing you'd need to add the profile maybe from porting from a compatible Rom but that's way beyond my ability.
Ah thanks for clarification, sadly this is the main reason I buy gear one, to direct stream music to Bluetooth. Well, let see..

Im surfing all over the net and there is no other way to do it unless you install stupid Tizen that has close to none of awesome abilities like Null. Up to 3 days if i dont listen to music on it. Anyway i dont like Tizen becosue i dont have any chance to install google browser, no youtube, mxplyaer, Rocket player, Facebook Lite or anything. When im at work i cant sneaky check anything on phone becouse i dont want to risk to break my phone but i can go with watch and since it has a nice BT range its usefull. But when im runing i dont want to holde huge ass z3 in my pocket again and pair it with headphones since i already have a bt capable device that can already play music with awesome equalizers. Rocket Player is one of the best out there and unless someone finds a way to get Tizen to instal all the aps that im using, there is no way ill instal that rom. Way to useless curently
I'm thinking instead of trying to get Google Now / voice-to-text running on the watch, why we can't use the watch as an a2dp device?
Relay the audio back and forth to the phone and let the phone do the processing and Internet.
I know it's possible because you can make a phone call from the watch, so why can't we tell Google Now or s-voice to send a text message?
Has one one given this a go? If so, is it as awesome as I imagine?? Also, how? I can't seem to get any audio other than call audio and on-watch audio out of the watch.
Also, this may be a stretch, but is there perchance a VNC-type app that can be run across bluetooth? View the phone's screen on your watch all willy-nilly and what's. Sounds crazy, I know, but it FEELS like it could be done.
----update
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=js.android.btmusic
This looks promising for talking to Google Now! I'm in class right now, but I'll give it a go here in about an hour.
----
Doesn't work. Just forwards media audio out the earpiece on the phone.
I'll do some fiddling with it later.
-----YET ANOTHER IDEA
I should just make a thread called "My perfect Gear in a perfect world", but what about fullscreen keyboard? You know how on your phone, you go to landscape mode and your keyboard takes up the whole screen with it's own textbox on top? Would there be a way to force that on the gear? Seems like every time I'm trying to type on the gear, the keyboard is covering what I'm typing.
using the phone's internet to do the actual processing of information is referred to as "TETHERING"... you are basically saying "let's use our galaxy gear as a microphone" ... this is what tethering would do. Initiate a request from the galaxy gear, process request using phone's internet, completing task at origin of initial request / location.
Now...... using the galaxy gear as a module to transmit system sound would be interesting idea... meaning we emulate our phones microphone via bluetooth connection (gear) but then you'd have to shut off the gear's sounds and all audio coming from the phone would somehow have to transmit through the gear... which i think would be very slow/ laggy... but also an interesting thought

I picked up a cheap bluetooth speaker to play music on, and I noticed it has an extra profile in the bluetooth settings on my phone that the Gear doesn't have. "Media Audio"
I can use the bluetooth speaker talk to Google Now, but not the Gear, so I"m thinking this is what's missing.
Is this a hardware thing? Can this be spoofed/modified to include the Media Audio for the Gear?
MEDIA AUDIO is a bluetooth profile that some device/receiver bluetooth DO have
for example i have a chinese bluetooth dialer that does have 2 bt profile.... os i can enable it for the phone audio.... AND for media audio. and wwhen i play a song on my phone.... also via youtube app, the audio is STREAMED TO THE BT RECEIVER ( the dialer) that does have a 3,5mm hole to use it with headphones. and i can HEAR youtube audio wireless using the BT dialer plus headphones...... thaks to media audio profile
It brings a tear to my eye that this was never implemented before the abandonment of the Null rom, A2DP is basically the only thing missing from it.

Yes. The gear has to be on a Tizen release. Then you can load music onto the gear and pair the gear with Bluetooth headphones, or an external speaker and rock on!

Yes- I am on Android using Null_Rom. This gives you access to your internal folders like Tizen, except you have the freedom of Android. I sideloaded Rocket Player (music player app that works well on the Gear) and can easily connect to a BT speaker.

Hard to believe that no one figure this out yet
galaxy gear pairs with headset but doesn't give a option connect to device
looks like its missing files
Thanks for your reply!
I gave this app a try but it lacks the files needed to establish a connection.
after looking into the matter ive notice that Galaxy Gear is missing connection files.
It allows to pair with headset the same way as phones but You can not tap on the device lables (even the phone) in the bluetooth menu to connect to the device the way normal bluetooth connection works .
I tried installing bluetooth fix app, the app gave me error message that the GGear is missing bluetooth folder.
I know alot of people would like to see this function working on Galaxy Gear without going to Tizen, if we could get a Dev to give us hand or if we get some insight on how the bluetooth connection works would be a step forward in getting this to work
i will bookmark this, currently waiting shipment for GG1.
i do hope can play abit with the stock rom, and then root, install null, before jump to tizen. i really need this function bluetooth streaming because i cant carry my note mobile while jogging with my bluetooth headset. so unless there is tweak to make bluetooth works on android, i need to use tizen.
anyway, i heard null rom has bad battery life, if you stream mp3 would this make the battery life even worse?
