[Q] Boot loop after Titanium backup, need help - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Am an avid xda fan. Been using Androids since the Nexus One and am on my 4th phone, the Z1 now. Im quite comfortable with modding phones , unlocking boot loaders etc however am in a situation.
I have got an Unlocked Z1 (obtained from Telstra, Australia) and have successfully got root. I followed the steps for Kingo and have verified SU status. Now heres my problem, I restored a bunch of system backups from Titanium backup from my old phone (Samsung S4). The S4 had CM10.2 on it before. After installing a select few system backups and the suggested reboot, i now get boot loops. It boots up to the Sony logo and splash screen however as soon as i see 1-2 seconds of my home screen, it reboots. and it loops. I need help guys as I don't have a custom recovery installed to do wipe phone in recovery.
Problem: Bootloop after Titanium backup restore
Situation: have Root (SU), bootloader locked, no custom Recovery.
Any suggestions? Am open for anything. Thanks guys.

hi mate, of course it will be boot loop. you restore system backup to your z1, it wont work. you need to reset your handheld to factory again.
next time please don't restore your system backup (use XML backup for backup call, wireless access point, phone log, message), just user data backup, such as apps you are using.

Hey bro. can you explain how I cna reset it back to factory again? without booting the phone?
yea, in hind sight i should have, plus was playing with fire, especially having no custom recovery.
edit: im thinking probably having to use adb/fastboot/flashtool of some sort. Just trying to figure out the commands...

You need to flash a ftf firmware file using Flash Tool (similar to flashing a stock ROM in Odin with Samsung). There are guides for doing it out there on this forum as well as ftf downloads. It will take you back to pure stock.

sorry mate, i don't have z1 but the procedure of backup & restore is like that you cannot restore your previous system with different model. btw good luck with resetting your device.

Yup that fixed it. Thnks guys for the confirmation. the restore of a generic tft file with flashtool not only resolved my issue, but also as expected wiped any carrier customisation i.e. Telstra.

[Q] Adding back LIB files with stock recovery

FOLLOWING THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2774730 I softbricked when removing the iq lib files. I was told how to put them back on in recovery, but I believe that is with cwm. Is there a method of pushing the libs back to the system with stock recovery, or do i need to learn how to use adb? Also is there a way to temporarily flash cwm without tripping knox? I am running the latest software version and am pretty sure to be the first to brick after rooting.
The bootloader is locked which prevents us from installing a custom recovery like cwm. If you followed your modifying procedures properly you can restore a backup. You did a backup before modifying files no?

I feel as if I let you down.... Never used tb before.. Really don't mind starting from scratch.. But I don't think any restore method works for 4.4... I may be wrong..
I believe a few people on nc2 release have restored their phone using this method.

Lenovo´s latest 4.4.2
Thx for the info, I also have A3500-FL, rooted but still on 4.2.2.
Can you compare how 4.4.2 works for you?
I read a couple of posts where people are complaining about it.

It was actually risky to try this root method for my aunt's A3500 HV as I had just bought it for her on 24 Sep 2014.
Originally I bought the tablet with android 4.2.2 and it was get rooted by RootGenius__lenovohome v 1.9.6. When I found this thread, I updated the tablet into FW version A3500hv_a442_01_32_140805 (android 4.4.2) by flashing tool. When it was successful updated to this version, I was noticed via OTA a newer version, FW A3500-HV_A442_01_35_140911 immediately after the first boot. I went ahead with downloading and updating the newer version by OTA. I felt it was so much better with the latest version with rapid lock GPS, better screen display quality and better sound quality as well.
As I was afraid to get brick the tablet in this thread, I tried to root the tablet again with RootGenius__lenovohome v 1.9.6 again but no lucky. As the result I decided to give me a chance to try the root method in this thread for A3500 HV with my own risk as I thought it can be unbrick by re-flashing a FW. Luckily it was rooted successfully with the instruction in this thread. It was a magic. :good::good::good:
There you go some screenshots.

Thanks for the reply well I new that they had put some extra security in the new kitkat version so that you can not root but when you use the recovery then you are installing the su file when android OS is is off so the security can't catch you
All right one last question have you tried making a nandroid backup and restoring it up until now if so and successfully please say so
Also if you do not know what a nandroid backup is it is just a backup of an entire operating system and can be used if the system gets bricked and it is totally harmless all it takes is 5 min since you had done the dangerous part and if that works can you check out nandroid restore because if the backup worked in success then there is a 97% chance that clockworkmod restore works o and there won't be any loss of data because you are doing a restore of all the data you backed up seconds ago
If there is a single error message after even after the backup and restore is finished please report it
The backup is totally harmless so if you can just check that I and all the HV version around the world would be very great full thanks in advance.......:fingers-crossed:

Actually I'm pretty sure that KK FW of A3500H does work on A3500HV then I think that the root method will work on A3500HV either. The only different thing between A3500H and A3500HV is call function, I think so.
I did try a Nandroid backup on FW 4.2.2 actually by using the recovery in this thread before upgrading to KK FW. It took about 10 minutes less for the backup procedure to be done without any error and it was written on CMW/BACKUP folder on external SD card (16GB was used). I noticed that the backup steps were similar to any Nandroid backup on CWM recovery: backup boot, recovery, system then data... later generating MD5 checksum. I haven't tried to restore this backup as the update KK FW works really great.
I also tried to flash zip FW (the latest one with build number A3500-HV_A442_01_35_140911) which was found on this link https://yadi.sk/d/KY44k2XDba5Mw from the Russian Lenovo Forum when the tablet was on FW 4.2.2. However, it was not successfull as the recovery said that there was nothing found on the zip to flash. I had no idea about it. Maybe we cannot upgrade to KK by this way when on JB FW or this CWM recovery (which is customized for A3500) can't be used to flash rom. Then I have to upgrade it by flashing tool and FW found on this link: http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/7809-прошивка-lenovo-a7-a3500hv-a442-01-32-140805-row-call/
Link to the forum: http://lenovo-forums.ru/forum/289-прошивки-lenovo-a7-a3500/
The tablet is not with me now as I just bought it for my aunt so I don't have a chance to try Nandorid backup when it is on KK FW. If there is a chance to do so, I will report it shortly.
I think it would be great if we could have flashable custom rom for Lenovo A3500HV via offical custom recovery.
Good luck!
Cheers,

[Q] Moving from CM11 back to stock Sony ROM

I am somewhat new to android...
Can someone please point me in the right direction here?
Currently I have an Xperia Z1 C6906 running rooted cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-honami with CWM.
I do not have a nandroid backup because I am stupid and did not know about this app.
I want to move back to the stock 4.4.4 Sony ROM and root. I cannot find this ROM or installation instructions.
Is this possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: I have found XperiaFirm and downloaded a file through the software. I have a question though, I live in the US and I bought the phone second hand, it was originally set up on the network Claro. If i download the US Customized firmware through XperiaFirm and restore the firmware with FlashTool, are there any consequences?
Also, I'm not too familiar with how ROMS, Kernals, and Firmwares are all related. Can I just flash the firmware I downloaded onto the device and everything will be returned to normal?
you won't get no problems with different customizations, just make sure it is the right model number. did you backup your TA partition before? reply me in order to i get a notification. Thanks

I did not make a backup of my TA partition. Unfortunately, I didn't know to do that.
I have successfully flashed my phone using the software I mentioned above and everything is working as far as I can tell. Going back to stock, I think I have lost my root, unlocked bootloader, etc., correct?
Thanks for your help!

You lost your root etc on stock that is correct, but since you dont have your ta partition your camera performance will be lowered. İ suggest you to look at this thread for a fix. Good luck.

I think you need to start reading some threads around here, once you have installed the TWRP for the S3, you cannot get OTA to work again and their are other numerous issues too, as of yet nobody can fully restore back to stock. So start reading.
Also a few people here do have flashable firmware that might help but it will never be a full stock recovery unless something is fixed.

I did not ask for OTA updates. I did not ask for stock. I asked for a functioning TWRP backup of the Le S3. Thats it.

Thanks, Ive seen this post as well, it is 19s but is the boot partition (i think) and data partition, no recovery or system partition.
I was curious if anyone had a complete backup of working system, recovery, boot, data partitions for restoring?
Also I get this odd error 7 when trying to restore it, anyone know what is going on?
Thanks

Hey, do you know where I could find the Chinese TWRP that allows me to flash the original stock EUI rom? I flashed LineageOS but the camera is not perfect, so I wish to go back to EUI but I cannot figure out how to install it without seeing errors such as "this package is for "le_s2_na" devices. Your device is a "s2"." Could you point me in the right direction? Maybe a download link for the Chinese TWRP that people claim works? Thanks!

You need to unzip the firmware file, remove top 2 lines from META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script and zip it again, it will remove the platform check. However device still does not boot, I tried to install both 20S and 21S multiple times. My guess is we need the original recovery partition image for X522 and I could not find it anywhere.
I resolved it. Took 2 days and dozens of flashes. As far as I can tell the key was to wipe everything - system, cache, data, internal storage, then reboot into bootloader again and into Chinese TWRP.
So the process would be:
1. power off the phone. Hold VolumeDown button and power on. It loads into bootloader.
2. fastboot oem unlock-go
3. fastboot boot twrp.img.
4. In TWRP wipe EVERYTHING
5. In TWRP reboot -> bootloader.
6. repeat 2-3.
7. On PC: adb push S2_X522-NA-OP-IFXNAOP5802102141S-5.8.021S.zip /sdcard
8. In TWRP click right button on the bottom and select English. Click "Do not allow modifications." Install the zip file you just uploaded.
9. Reboot.

Hmm I might try that later, but what would I do if I get the classical error ("this package is for "le_s2_na" devices")? Will that error not show up if I follow your method?

There are a couple of reasons for people not replying.
First of all, the lack of details on your problem makes it impossible to determine the solution.
1. What do you mean bricked? Bootloop? Stuck on OnePlus logo? Hard brick? How did you get it bricked in the first place?
2. The restore tool removes TWRP. Have you installed it again?
3. What do you mean you can't install or the update the ROM? Is there an error message? Are you trying to flash a custom ROM in the stock recovery?
4. You waited less than 2 hours. You realize there are different time zones? Some people are sleeping, others are at work.

Hey you self-entitled prick, transfer a copy of the full ROM onto your phone through adb/USB OTG/MTP and flash it through the stock recovery. If you had previously unlocked your bootloader and have TWRP installed, use that to flash instead. If you do not know what any of the above means, look for it yourself through the forums.

Get into the stock recovery and wipe both cache and userdata partitions before proceeding to troubleshoot further.

Reflash with the MSMtool after re-downloading everything and verifying all downloads first before proceeding. Use the tool I have posted at https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/guide-official-op3t-stock-reset-to-oos-t3598864
Ensure you verify before starting the flash. Also uninstall or deactivate any anti virus application installed on your PC.
should i change the data partitions and everything to f2fs or other thing. system to ext4 data to f2fs
For now, don't worry about the data partitions. As mentioned above, reflash from MSMTools, verify the downloaded package first, and then check. All your issues are probably caused by a bad file.
