[APP] Cache Fixer (Play Store 492 error fix)

I'd like to share this app with our SGA - i(M/C/39i) community. Basically, this app is very useful for EXT4 systems (CM 7.2 RC4 for us). It allows you to move /cache partition to /data partition. So, if you are facing 492 error Play Store, just install it and:
1. Wipe /cache in the app
2. Choose "Move to /data"
3. Slide cache size to 29MB
4. Tap "Move"!
That's it! But remember that you will have to do it after each reboot. Links are in the 2nd post

Just a ques: Isn't it better to flash it once again in the right way instead of using the app after every boot? Or at least it would be nice if it would be a init.d script.

[TOOL][ZIP] Play Store 492-498 fixer by Lopicl

Hey folks!
Finally the play store fix come here...
With this tool u can fix the 492 or 498 error on play store (NOT SURE)
There are two versions, one for RFS partition and one for EXT4 partition, download the one accoreding to your rom specs.
EXT4
RFS
HOW TO:
1. copy the zip on sdcard
2. go to cwm and install it
3. don't need to mount anything
4. now ur play store SHOULD BE fixed

Oh, so try going to settings>applications>manage applications>google play store and delete its data and updates, then reboot, wait until update is downloaded and try downloading something.

For 498 error try to use cache fixer app. Works fine for me.

Here's what I did:
1. Applied your patch in recovery
2. After that, tried to update an app, still with 492/8 issues
3. Applied cache fixer
4. Unmounted cache (# umount /cache)
5. Mounted cache (# mount /dev/stl10 /cache)
6. Installed some random app
7. ????
8. HELL YEAH!!!

yeah it fixed the error but almost all apps are gone
should it work like that?
anyways - thanks for this fix, i can restore apps by titanium backup

This last steps from El_Dark worked for me. I just tried about every reciepe people posted here, at last I found a solution.

Ps. BTW, I have a Galaxy Y (GT-S5360B, 'B' in the end for the Brazilian version), but the steps suited fine.

Changing recovery

Hello XDA. Im new to Galaxy s as i got it from my brother, and now im a bit stuck. I have the latest gamerzrom installed which has devilkernel and i guess its own devil touch kernel 6.0 something. The rom is 4.2.2 and it has been installed through cm 10.1. My problem is, i cant install cm 11, it gives me error 7, and i guess its because i need clockworkmod and i want to know how?
So the goal is to install cm11 from gamerzrom, problem is i need CWM and ibdont know how to get it.

I suggest you to use TWRP, it's included in the Mackay Kernel, and it's more intuitive and responsive, give it a try!

But doesnt installing cyanogenmod need CWM? (Thats what reads in the instructions)

Not necessary, if i remember right the Devil Kernel includes a custom recovery based on CWM, if through it you flash the Mackay Kernel it has the TWRP chosen by default but you can easily switch to CWM editing a file, as explained in its OP

Is it flashed via Odin? On my old device you could just flash kernels in a zip file though recovery?

Yes, is this
You can install through Odin , but it must have .TAR extension;
on the contrary, the way most easy is to reboot in recovery (holding home&power&volume up for nearly 10s), wiping cache, wiping Dalvik cache in Advanced, and then installing the .zip selecting it you have downloaded before

Thanks for giving the tip on mackay kernel, i installed it succesfully and will probably try installing CM11 tomorrow

Have you tried the cm Mackay based rom? It's updated by kasper_h nearly every week, it's a version slimmed and edited to improve speed and stability (and i also slimmed it removing things that i don't use such as live wallpapers, meteo, alarms and ringtones), the first time i try it i'm remained impressed by its smoothness

Hello every body, i want to share fully working Timescape for our device mini and device 2.3 or cm7..
tested on cm7 mabitek and Andro-id rom..
Requirements :
1. Device with 2.3 or cm7
2. CWM or TWRP

Why don't all developers on GT-S5570I work togther as a team and bieltv.3 ur head to improve CM 9.1 bugs?

He told me That alsa should be built frist
Now he got new pc and manged to Boot linux on it so expect soon update
