I have the same problem but only with certain male to male cables that i use in my car. Its nice to know im not the only one. I use beats solos but a pair of skull candys also worked like a charm.
Cant go wrong with skull candy
Should I return it because of this?

I know I want to
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
You could but it might just be certain cables you just can't use.

What cables
The part that I plug into doesn't like headphones
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
The 3.5 jack on the vivid seems to not like certain headphone plugs.
anyone have links

Do yourselves a favor - go get a pair of sennheiser headphones..don't waste your $ on beats or even worse skull candy.. ive used all of them, and nothin touches my German sennheisers.
Sent from my HTC Raider X710e using xda premium
I returned mine because of this and new one had same problem I know I just bought some skull candy from radio shack for 19.99 and a year warrenty so if they pinch a wire or a speaker goes out I can take them in and exchange for free total was 24$ and some change..

Update! just brought some ibeats by Dr dre earbuds, no problems what's so ever.I think this phone was made for beats head phones.

I've been using generic male-to-male cable in my car for the past month with no problems. I have also been using a generic portable speaker for the past week with no issues.
I did have trouble once (yesterday, actually) when the phone wouldn't register the plugged in cable. However that happened after I plugged in and removed the speaker a little too quickly, which seems to have messed with its mind. A hard (battery) reboot fixed the issue.

Damn just found out I could get the urbeats instead from att, probably will take them back and get those instead for the fast forward and rewind buttons. But there not sold at the dre site officially so I'm alittle iffy and confused.

I use earbuds a LOT..I have tried skull candy and they are crap in comparison to others...the German brands are very good but expensive..I found a nice compramise with Klipsch si4...they are $99 with the microphone and volume control on the wire and $79 just for earbuds...the link for ordering online is below:

I need something that locks in like the charger does out the box before it gets used and starts slightly bending, my back is a little beat up and I don't have a car so I don't want to go out if I don't have to trust me not being able to workout is painfully enough by its self , anyway still looking for links for something cheap and loud

Any headphones should work but I shelled out the extra $$ for a pair of klipsch s4..$99....a midrange quality, but works very well. In terms of functionality, skull candy is OK at best...highs are distorted...and beats to me are not all great either for the hefty price tag...well made but quality lacks...if u want cheap then skull candy probably perfectly fine...they work OK...u just use headphones a lot so I'm picky..just can't afford the fancy German made ones..

Almost no head phones work, they gave us a crappy 3.55 mil or whatever jack, I don't know if I can even swap because I'm s- off and all that stuff

I fail to understand all the complaints about the vivid/raider's 3.5mm headphone jack. Had my raider since the day it was released, have used the factory headset, a pair of beats, 3 different pairs of skullcandys, a pair of dollar store headphones, plus my superb sennheisers, all with zero problems. My wife has had her raider for the same length of time and has no complaints. I'm thinking either people are using cases that interfere with the ability of the jack to seat fully, or people are just idiots..I mean that in the nicest possible way of course, but if I can jog with my phone in my pants pocket and not lose my headphone connection then u guys MUST be doing something wrong.

anyone have tried razer moray on our phone?
The earphones right? I read some reviews saying that it gives good sound for its price
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
I've been using those earbuds for more then a year now. Sounds nice. Good noise isolation. No problem with it so far.
So far this is a decent ear phone, bass is not the strong but it is more suitable for playing games on PC
Im using Morey + which included with MIC. The MIC is usable when you are using the ear phone.
I bought a maroy + and its nice worth for the money

You're talking about headphones, correct? I have these iems called Xtreme Xplosives by JVC which have a ton of base. Look them up on amazon, they're less than $20
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
These have a ton of base too and they sound better then the factory headphones which came with the phone. Does the one you recommended have a mic for phone calls?

Jlab Audio makes some great, inexpensive headphones. you can find them on Amazon. i have the JLab 4 with microphone, and they have amazing sound. i bought the JLab 6 with microphone over the holidays for dirt cheap for my wife and daughter, and they sound great, too.

I would strongly suggest the Klipsch image one.bass is good won many awards as well....
google it
i think bose in ear headphones are hands down probably the best i have jvc, jbl, the stock samsung ones and bose and by far clarity and bass bose wins for me
I think there is a version that does. When I say it has a lot of base.. I mean a ton. Just look at the thousands of reviews and take the $15 or whatever risk. The version I have does not have a mic but for around $5 more there is one.

Apologies.. I thought we were talking over ear ones.. but in ear and I have a choice of two that I can recommend
Without Microphone
Go with SoundMagic E10.. bet you never heard of the brand .. but they are upcoming and heck they sound beautiful. As I cannot post links got to whathifi dot com and search for them. They didnt wina 5 star award for nothing!! read reviews on the net as well.. IMO they blow the apple earpods out of the water
With Microphone
The Jays a-jays one plus . Look for them on trusted reviews. They are well worth a listen too heavy on bass as well.:good:
If you want in ear, I have a set of pioneers that have blown every headphone I've ever had out of the water, including my Sony Xtra bass isolations that broke, sadly they dont make those anymore. These are $23 on newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=26-621-019
Klipsch x10 on Amazon. Only $80,they used to be $280 but a new version just came out and they dropped the price of the old, but in sound quality there is no difference. If you want some of the best earphones money can buy, buy the Klipsch x10.

:good:

Did you give the skulls back and did you get any other ones?
I went with some shure se215. You can get a cordwith inlune mic too

Hey, I just received this speaker, was a sweetener when buying the m8. What a waste of time. Is it supposed just to provide bass? If it is it's lame, put it straight on eBay. Anyone else get one?

great sound on the phone as standard apart from no bass, this fixes that in as smaller package possible.

I also had one thrown in by phones4u (as well as £50 of play credit, a leatherette case, the M8 free up front and £72 cash back lol)
Anyway I find it works a lot better with the wife's M7 in regards to sound quality. It might be because I have zeroinfinity's sound mod and Viper4Android installed and they don't like the speaker but it seems a little distorted and there appears to be a fractional delay that creeps in between the boombass and the phone's speakers that makes it sound terrible.

I bartered with them. I was originally offered it for £34.99 per month free phone and other freebies but wasn't able to upgrade at the time. Rang back a few days later and it had gone up to £37.99 so I demanded the difference in cashback so £72 is the difference over the 24 months.
Sweet. Did well.

How much?
£29.11? Think I "won" it (the granite worktop certainly looks the same as the one I bid on). As a coincidence, it was this thread that made me go look. Your sales pitch of, "If it is it's lame, put it straight on eBay" won me over

not the best sounding, but decent. I like my lg hbs 730 for bike riding. No wires to get in the way and stays on my neck very nicely.
I highly recommend you Philips Fidelio M1BTBL headphone! It's pretty expensive but boy. What a sound. I have 14 different sorts of headphones (I work for a music company) but this is my personal favorite. Battery lifetime is good, the noise reduction is perfect, real good monitoring of high and low ends. And it fits really comfortable!
And of course easy pairing with the m8..

What are you going to be doing with the headphones? Biking running lifting walking ?
I just bought the Motorola S305 headphones, they're $50 at Best Buy, but they will price match Amazon ($35), by far the best deal for the money. Battery life is not that great - 4 hours of talk time (listed specs), music playback is probably a little bit longer. They do charge very fast though. Range also isn't very good from my experience (phone is always in my pocket anyway), but that probably has more to do with HTC Sense which always has some type of issues with bluetooth...but like I said, best deal for the money.
I use it only for biking.
Grtz

Great thread, I am also looking for he best value bluethoot earbuds to use while running or biking. They all seem pretty expensive, is there on option on the 30-50 bucks that is worth it?
Cheers
Ive also been looking into bluetooth ear buds, for work related reasons its not great to have wires hanging everywhere, Ive been looking at the Plantronics Backbeat go 2's the price doesnt seem too awful and the look to perform like other earbuds
I got these for about $20 AUD recently.
Looks like they sold out at the moment, but I am sure they will get more.
They sound good enough for what I need them for - work phone calls at home and a bit of music. And they come with a pair of detachable ear loops to keep the earphones in your ears while exercising.

I have two pairs of Soul SV3 bluetooth headphones. A lot of bad reviews on Amazon for the earpad covers not being glued on well, but when I got the silver ones they were $40. These are basically knockoffs of Beats, so not for running. One of the many followers that attached a rapper's name to their $200 headphones. These no longer endorsed by Ludacris. Personally I haven't had any problems with the earpad covers. They could've have done a neater job, but they are still glued on after a month of daily use. They have bluetooth 4.0 for better battery life and Apt-X which the HTC One M8 supports for better bluetooth audio. They also have a detachable audio cable and are nicely packaged. Definitely weren't intended to be sold for $40.

The LG Tone Infinims? I have them too, very pricey, but great sound, way better than I ever dreamed I'd get with Bluetooth. Definitely worth the but (though I may buy a pair off eBay and save some money off what I paid at the AT&T store, haven't decided if I wanna risk it yet).
