I want to know if the Moto X supports USB OTG and MHL?
I use otg every now and then, I don't know about mhl because the only one I have is an old Samsung one.

Aun updates on this one?
I think OTG is supported but I really want to know if MHL works and if I need any special adapter or just any I get from eBay or DX should work.
I'm about to get one of these babes next week.
Noone's trying this?
The other day I used a OTG cable and connected a pendrive. It didn't work and I didn't have time to try some app
I've used OTG with the Meenova. Works great. Automounts as /storage/usbdisk_1.1.1 for some reason. It mounts READ ONLY by default. Root users can modify this (search for the thread about using Titanium Backup to backup to the Meenova for details).
I'll Try MHL tonight and let you know...
MHL is not supported on our Moto X - use Miracast instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425216
The "MHL Consortium" site doesn't list any Motorola products as compatible: http://www.mhltech.org/productlist/mobile-devices/
The PDF link is currently dated Oct-18-2013: http://www.mhltech.org/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=5055
Since I don't currently have any Miracast supported viewing devices, I can't answer to how well that works...
My TV supports WiFi direct "Screen share" but Miracast doesn't work. Believe it's on the TV's side as I can sen and recieve the invite either way, and connect. But the TV never shows up under the "Displays" screen. Working with LG (giving them a hard time) to release a firmware update since it's 99% there. Might have to get a dong though.....

Anyway, I was curious about this myself; I had a N4 before I got the moto x and was in the market for either a slimport or miracast adapter.

Lol...I had to! Yeah, I'm hoping they release a firmware update to fix it. LG has been pretty good with updates to fix some of the little issues. And the fact they are pushing it big on all their newer TV's. Gonna give it awhile, hopefully I won't be force to by a dong.
Possibilities?
Has anyone tried another conector possibilities?
I'am traveling, so i can't test right now at my home...

"Update: I've had many emails and questions about whether USB-OTG (On The Go) is supported on the Nexus 7, and didn't touch on it when I originally hit publish becuause I wasn't entirely sure. I've now confirmed that USB-OTG is supported on the Nexus 7, and works on the current Android 4.1 non-final build that has been sampled. That's encouraging, and I'll test it myself when I get home and to my miniUSB OTG adapter."

Still unconfirmed. He has yet to try it.

From the official guide which is on Google play books free of charge.

The manual just talks about input devices. We're all waiting for confirmation that it also works for storage, ideally without powered hubs along the way.
Well at least it confirms that at least input devices are supported which makes it much more likely that storage might be supported.
someone on reddit emailed google. They confirmed OTG but also confirmed no MHL as everyone else has been stating.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/vs2yt/nexus_7_official_google_response_no_mhl_yes_usb/
Just need 3.3V for input devices or even less, so still not for sure. We should see an update to Brian's post this weekend at Anandtech.
Storage has not been confirmed yet as a go. It could be good news it works, bad news you need a power source.
It works in 4.1, but maybe not the device in this case.
Great info here people. Please keep us updated.

Update 2: I've asked for further clarification about what USB-OTG functionality is supported. Using a mouse and keyboard will be supported, and I saw Google using an ethernet to USB adapter over USB-OTG as well. Unfortunately I found out that mounting USB storage will not be supported natively. In addition MHL is not supported.

"Not natively" being the key phrase here...
It's a no for now then...
Now to wait until someone tries it on a rooted tablet...

It could once rooted and using StickMount.
But right now we still don't know if it delivers enough power or other issues it may have.

Alright, thanks. I guess I'll stick with my 8GB preorder.
There is already a thread discussing USB-OTG, please continue all further discussion there.
has motorola confirmed or denied MHL support for the Moto X? i was just about to get an HDMI compatible car stereo to replace my god awful mirror link unit, but i realized that the X might night support it.. now i may have to wait another year for a miracast unit :: sigh ::
i would like to know this also. i dont own a mhl adapter other wise i would test it myself.

The GSM Arena review stated that MHL works on it, but I haven't heard from anywhere else.

I saw this too, but I have a hard time believing it.
still no verification of this working or not. i know that review said it would but i would rather see users here say it does lol.
I attempted to use it, and it didn't work.
However, the MHL cable I'm using is a cheap eBay one I bought a year or so ago, and it was always spotty anyway. I might buy a proper cable and try again, because I am also very interested in it.
I have an MHL adapter that I've been using with my Rezound since day one, and I can't get it to work with my Moto X. Not sure if there's an option or a config I'm missing, but I've been over every inch of the settings dialogues and can't get HDMI output from this Moto X. VZW, for the record.
The moto x has wireless display, I guess no HDMI but you can view movies & pictures through the wireless display settings, my guess

The X doesn't support MHL or Slimport, but as Flash mentioned, it does wireless display via Mracast. Miracast mirrors your entire screen, but with slight latency, so don't expect to game on the big screen with it. Browsing the web, videos and music are fine though.

Working at the Samsung store, I have lots of access to MHL cables and compatible TVs. Something interesting happens when I plug the phone into the television. It shuts off. I turn it back on, and before it can finish boot it shuts off again. I unplug it from the TV, power on and it boots normally.
This leads me to believe that there was at least an intention for MHL at some point but it was never fully implemented.
No MHL support for the Moto X. You'll need a miracast adapter.

With my Note 4, I could keep a tiny OTG adapter (pictured in the link below) in my wallet to give access to USB devices...
https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB19g5f...TG-Adapter-Converter-into-Flash-Drive-For.jpg
I can't seem to find a similar device for use with the Note 8.
Has anybody found anything like this?
Cheers,
Steve.
Perhaps not as tiny but the Note 8 comes with an OTG adapter used for transferring data from an older phone to a new one.

Yeah, I know - I was really wondering why there aren't any OTG adapters in the nano flat style. That's what I'm really after.
THIS is the smallest I've seen.
Well, there is another but the listing just seems a little dodgy - Clicky
I bought a usb 2.0 to C OTG adapter which did not work at all, and a 3.1 A to C which does so that may need to be a consideration beyond just the physical size.

I would have gone with the second one if the picture had actually been of a USB-C interface, rather than Micro USB.
If it can't fit in my wallet, then attaching it to my key-ring (with minimal size/bulk) is a reasonable alternative.
I keep both of these in my wallet. Type C to micro USB and a micro USB OTG adaptor.
Got them from Gearbest and/or Banggood.

It's nice to know that works - I ordered exactly the same from Gearbest a week ago.
Has anyone gotten desktop mode working? I haven't been able to with any adapter that worked with my mate 10 pro...
Yeah works using a cheap Amazon usb c to hdmi for me..
Yep, cheapest USB-HDMI that I could find on Amazon worked fine.
Yep £10 adapter from Amazon works a charm although one thing I've noticed is that Excel/Word will not work on there without a 365 licence which is a little annoying.
I got it working using an amazon adaptor but the quality of the picture is very suspect for me. Looking at some really nice photos I have taken on there doesn't do them any justice really.

It's most likely because you're viewing on a 1080/4K monitor and not the phones native resolution which is what it outputs at. (Pretty daft if you ask me) Also someone mentioned if viewing on a TV that changing the input settings of the HDMI to PC improves quality too.

Most of the apps including Microsoft excel mobile do not work in landscape mode in Huawei desktop mode. Not sure what is the plan from Huawei to close the gap of compatibility issue.

Allrighty... Guess I was trying to be too fancy by using USB C docks. Though they worked on the Mate.

I wanted to do something like this, so that the phone gets docked into an already setup dock (HDMI/USB Mouse Keyboard) rather than just plugged in to a wire. But couldn't see anything that would fit the bill. Considering making something myself to solve the problem
I'm using something similar to this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARKTEK-Cha...F8&qid=1525091973&sr=8-24&keywords=usb+c+hdmi
and thinking of modifying this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Youbeautif...=1525092036&sr=1-5&keywords=clear+phone+stand
So would be a case of mounting the USB C port through the bottom of the stand and then fixing the ports themselves to the bottom base of it.

Hi There,
Wanting to know if the Realme X2 Pro supports Video Output through the use of a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
Thanks
I just tested it, and it does not work.
From what I understand, it has USB 3.0 and not 3.1 needed for HDMI out.

It does say it had hdcp tho, weird if it doesn't support hdmi when hdcp is a hdmi protocol?
And here it states it has usb 2.0 usb-c.

I bought one from marktplaats, a Dutch platform where you can buy used products. I use a HP traveldock. It is sadly very bad, as it mirrors your screen and it has an awfull screen ratio. You will have really big black bars on your monitor, giant! Sorry for my late response, but I hope I helped
could you please share url for that specific display link product ?
