I went to the site but beta was closed. I did a search here, but links that I found are down. Can anyone help? I'm on a stock Nexus.
Thanks
It's not allowed to post links to where you can get the APK. Sorry.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks! How about any other keyboards? I just don't like the stock one that I have.
I did try to add HTC_IME but it force closes on me everytime I try to use it. ><
SmartKeyboard Pro is an excellent replacement keyboard app. Once you buy the app, you get unlimited downloads for other languages. Being able to flip to a German keyboard with one click is very nice. =)
Also, the English version of the profile-mode keyboard has T9. Sounds wacky, but I do type faster on it than with a normal keyboard one-handed.
Swype is the best keyboard. I signed up for beta testing, forgot about it, then a few weeks later got an email from them. You have to register with them IF they still offer this. But it will be available soon I'm sure.

Some how since backing up my phone and removing the bloatware, I've managed to delete the Android Keyboard.
Is there anyway to redownload this keyboard? I prefer it to the Samsung Keyboard hands down. Or perhaps there is another keyboard you would recommend that I can download via the Market or elsewhere?
Thank you
I like swiftkey...comes a close second to Swype for me.

The swiftkey beta is definitely worth a look. I prefer swype, personally.

So is there no way to get the Android Keyboard back? Even after I restore the backup prior to the bloatware removal, it always seems to disappear. Could I be deleting something causing it to go away?

I have it after removing the bloat?
So then what happened to my android keyboard?! =/
Just do an Odin restore, that should get it back on there
My favorite has got to be the DroidX multitouch keyboard.

Thanks SOOOO Much !!! SwiftKey is AMAZING! I used to like the stock android keyboard because it was fast, had good prediction, and was black so more batt efficient.
Swiftkey's prediction is just about two fold better than the stock android. The only things I would change is to add a D-pad when you hit the alt button, and making the keyboard more black to save on batt. (unlikely it will get optimized for SAMOLED screens though)
SlideIt keyboard best of all

I just purchased this today and after trying every other keyboard I can say this one meets all of my needs. Accurate, multi-touch, and good customization all in one.

I second this particular keyboard. I find myself using this on a regular basis.
I use Smart Keyboard Pro and I love it. Great prediction and just has a good feel. I haven't tried the Droid X keyboard yet, I'll try it out.
Swype is great, but my vote also goes to Smart Keyboard Pro. I've tried almost all of them, and this one is a keeper.
For me, it's really hard to choose.
I like the Samsung keyboard because of multitouch and I feel like I can type faster on it, but the autotext is a pain.
The Droid X keyboard is nice especially because of multitouch but it is really stupid when it comes to predicting text..
The stock android keyboard is okay, just no multitouch.
I'd say the Droid X keyboard wold be my pick. I usually use that.
-Just my two cents.
i, too, am loving the DroidX over Swiftkey
I actually love the default Samsung keyboard in 2.2, I just wish I could switch the Period (.) to the other side of the space bar as I tend to hit it half of the time instead of the space bar with my right thumb.
Anybody know of a keyboard that is exactly the same as the default Samsung Keyboard in 2.2 but with those buttons switched?
Swype is one of the best and most popular keyboard options for Android, available on Galaxy S. Given the fact Nexus S is based on the Galaxy S would Swype be available on that device as well? Still no info here beta*swype*com
I'm curious about this as well. But I'm thinking not. Does anyone know?
No, it won't have Swype. The hardware is Samsung, but the software is all Google. You'll have to get into the beta or get the .apk file somehow.
I had it on my Vibrant, but I'm still signed up to Beta from my Nexus One days...I prefered the Samsung Swype skin though.
Maybe some Samsung Devs will pack & sign a APK file for you guys!?
never tried swype but i'd like it on the NS
Swype was good when it first came out. It's gotten progressively more inaccurate somehow. i.e. pretty standard words are left out of the dictionary, and accuracy for me is way worse than when I was running 2.1 Eclair (stock JFD firmware on my Vibrant).
SWYPE
Tried to install two types of swype hvga and wvga and no luck DARN!
EDIT
WVGA WORKS YAY
Installed via Android Commander
Anyone that is in the beta program can install the official one. I just installed it on mine and it's working perfectly.
+1 for official Swype.

Swype should go commercial now.
I would pay up to $10 to have it.

Unfortunately, they never will, as it's not part of their business model.

Swype is not to be distributed, per the forum rules, on non-swype devices
Bump.. It would be really awsome if we could have the samsung swype.. Anybody knows what it takes to port ?
*hint* someone posted an apk called SAIDKEYBOARD.apk in a topic called Swype in the Themes & App Section.
But don't take my word for it.

in my opinion swype is a really good on screen keyboard for phones with smaller, less touch friendly touch screens and/or with no/non fucntioning QWERTY keyboards.
when your phone has a qwerty keyboard, i dont see the purpose of swype unfortunately.

So many apps in market. Go search "Pinyin input" to get them and almost all of these apps are free.
All characters are romanized, alphabet and western symbol can convert to ASCII code, and Chinese characters goes two ASCII codes per character.
We type them in many ways include pinyin/stroke/handwriting and so on. For example, pinyin input method like follows: a combination of some alphabets respect the pronunciation of a character, type the alphabets, then, choose the character you want. That's all

Hello, can anyone please share the app for "https://www.gizchina.com/2019/11/30/huawei-mate-30-pro-mechanical-keyboard-simulator/" Huawei's mechanical keyboard, very curious how it works but i can't find it in my app store. Thanks!
Yeah I've been looking for it everywhere aswell.
Sounds like it's just haptic feedback that Swiftkey already does
My P30 came with Swiftkey pre-installed as the only keyboard anyway
Looks like it's downloadable.

unfortunately the only way to change this is to edit the "Country" under Huawei App, and this will require payment details, address, to the new country lol, we are stuck unless someone can share the app here :crying:

I was hoping it can be somehow integrated with swiftkey or gboard (the cherry sound ), but nahhh

tried and tested, swiftkey is better lol, had a headache with all the chinese config --- "mechanical emulator" is just the same vibration with swift key, but it has lots of themes if you're into it, thanks again for sharing!
hi guys i tested it and ir does workkkk
first you nees to change your keyboard to english en t26
then you must download cherry mx skin after that your keyboard will chage like a keyboard computer skin, is easy first download skin and search cherry. Find the skin that look like in gizchina article and download. After apply it your keyboard skin will change
and the vibration will change also ia differ than the swifft key in vibration the differ is hard to explain but one thing for sure is better is like the vibration have thing or tactile to it while swift key is just standard vibrate
Edit
The swift key feel like a vibrate
The cherr mx one feel like there a rythm to it similiar like you type on actual keyboard well it good but not great
Update
Even the standard baidu keyboard vibration is differ than the skin cherry mx vibra, i think is quite good alternative experience btw set to 50 or 60 because above that tje vibration feel to long /unreal
But when u change language to different like Chinese u loose theme
btw its most beautiful keyboard i ever seen, but only for chinesse...
