Galaxy Gear Samsung apps will not install, stuck at "installing" - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Every galaxy gear app is stuck at installing. The watch and phone are working fine together other than that. Non-Gear samsung apps install fine.
Anyone else having problems installing Gear Apps from Samsung apps?
This is on a stock note 3 stock gear. Installing eventually times out actually installing nothing. But then the samsung apps thinks it's been installed. Now I have 10 apps or so that are not on the gear that the app store thinks are downloaded and cant remove. Any help out there?
I have power cycled the phone and the gear. I have disconnected the Gear and added it back as a new gear.

Bump am I the only one with problems?

Had the same problem... when trying to install from Note III phone the Galaxy Gear Watch, the Samsung Note III phone software got stuck/hung. Also, calls out originating from the watch were not performing correctly. Lastly, I could not use the Samsung App store as it would show an error saying something along the lines of not being logged in to access apps or some such. Only remedy seems to be to wipe the Note 3 and watch and start over again. Here is what I did:
Backup everything to Kies 3 (though other methods should be ok I assume).
Reset Note III and watch back to factory.
After reboot I made sure the phone/watch interface worked. Verifying this, then restored phone using Kies 3.
Of course there is always a bit more work than this, as the Phone's home screen/sub-screens layout need to be redone and other bits needs to be manually changed back to your preferences. Also, some of your e-mail account may need to be re-entered/reconfig as they were deleted and not restored. Took me ~60 min and now everything, including sideloading with Wondershare MobileGo, works great.

Same here although I am using a gs4. Everything works fine but I can't install new apps I am using 4.2.2 I figured that might have something to do with it so I'll wait until 4.3 and go from there.

me too. s4 first i was on 4.22 and couldn't instaal anything on the gear, then upgraded to 4.3 rooted it, but the problem is still there - can't install anything on the watch. even svoice wouldn't work

Samsung apps
After some tests I think that the problem is located in the Samsung apps itself.
Since we (may be all of us) have custom ROM, Samsung apps is not correctly installed or is in a older version. Remove the actualization of the Samsung apps in the app manager and restart the phone.
After that open again the samsung apps and it will install actualizations.
Some force closes after that open the gear manager and you will be able to install apps to the watch.
Seem confusing but worked for me. Already in tall ever note and line after that.

Galaxy Gear + S3

Hey guys,
Yesterday I bought Galaxy Gear. I currently own Galaxy S3 that I would like to pair with Gear.
I'm on custom SlimBean ROM with Android 4.3. I have installed the APK Gear Manager that is floating around the forum here (around 17mb), it installs without the problem, but when it comes to pairing I get a little popup that some part of Samsung SDK is not supported and the connection is being broken. Did anyone else get it to work with S3?
I have time till next saturday to decide whatever I will keep it or not, maybe there will be a solution by then. I can always return it to the store.

update us if you manage to get it to work considering samsung said that it will pair with teh s3 once it updates to 4.3 :good:
sure, no problem, but my hands are tied at the moment, unless someone have some other idea how i could possibly pair it.
Can I ask does the watch display basic functions I.e time, camera etc ? Or is it stuck a the pairing icon?

maybe there is a way to go further, but i don't see such option. it's stuck at pairing and only display battery left.
gear got gs3 and my gear paired without any issues. My gs3 is stock rom, downloaded the gear manager from Samsung app store and it all worked fine! There are some things that don't work - s voice, weather, can't install any new apps from Samsung app store but pretty much everytjing else works (calling, transfer of pics and videos, changing clock face, etc). Any questions, pls ask!
Rooted Stock Rom on my S3 and it paired fine with my 1st Watch (That went back to Best Buy, since I wasn't paying $300 until it was fully working - and my new one will be here tomorrow - had to take the 30% deal).
So it paires and the functions that worked, worked well ... Like the previous post - No apps / etc ... But Calls worked, pictures, etc

No, it's not rooted, I installed the earliest version of the manager and that one seems to be the only one that works. Today stupidly I went to Samsung app store and tried to install the new version... as the install wasn't working I deleted the version I had - and this was a mistake as new versions seem to be compatible only with 4.3. After searching this site, I've found the version that works again thankfully! so if you click here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484065&page=4 and install the app from the last post - this should work. Let me know how you get on.
for anyone curious, using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947 and this Gear Manager apk: http://depositfiles.com/files/pmgqxv9c5 will get you paired up with your Galaxy Gear.
Everything connected right up no problem.
The only issue is no notifications, which is the main reason I wanted this but its only a temporary issue. Hopefully.(c'mon 4.3 update :fingers-crossed
Camera, calls, even incoming calls, work fine, can change app settings and everything. I was even able to load GamboyColor AD and play some pokemon on it lol.

[Q] S4 active with Galaxy Gear smartwatch

Hi All,
Any tips / tricks to get the Galaxy Gear watch to work with the S4 Active on 4.2.2? As soon as I open Gear Manager, it says it cannot work with this phone.
I tried a bluetooth connect, and it connects but then disconnects right away
Thanks.

I found the root and 4.3 yesterday, and it's working, except for S-Voice. It says S-voice is not installed on my phone - but it is, and it works on my phone

Oh don't know why. I did the 4.3 upgrade, set up the gear apps etc and only then rooted the phone. Maybe try this sequence.
Although, had to reinstall samsung apps to fix few things but everything else worked fine. Will ask friend about S voice again and report back.

So - since installing the 4.3, my phone randomly 'forgets' my Google accounts. They are GONE.
I returned the galaxy gear, so 4.3 is no longer 'needed'. Is it possible to go back to 4.2? That may be the cause of the google accounts frequently vanishing.

As of now there is no way to downgrade because of a locked bootloader. You're sick with what you've got. You can try going to the Samsung Store at Best Buy and see what they can do, but I don't think it'll work since you've already upgraded.
so the OTA also has an issue with losing the google account? I thought this was only an issue for the Leak. By the way the odin 1 click restore can take you back to 4.2.2

I have a Galaxy Gear working almost perfectly with my 4.2.2 S4 Active. Only S-Voice and weather do not work. Notifications are all there, hands free works, apps work.
All you need is to install the gearmanagerstub.apk and gearmanager.apk to get you started. Head to the XDA Galaxy Gear forum for the how to

Little help with the gear manager

Now before anyone jumps down my throat I've googled the hell out of my question and i cant find the solution to it.
I have a moto droid maxx this is my work phone so rooting or anything like that is not an option. The issue is after I upgraded to the latest version of android on my phone 4.4.4, gear manager stopped working. now my gear is rooted and running null_ and i had gear manager running with ATN on the previous version of android for my phone i believe i was using GM 1.6.something and after the last android update it stopped working it and ATN, so for a while now Ive been using the gear sms server and client app i found but i miss being able to use the other things that gear manager aloud me to do. so my question to anyone that can figure it out, is what do i need to do to get this functionality back? now im no noob to this kind of stuff Ive just hit a brick wall and cant seem to get anything to work now. and a little info i forgot is gm stopped working after the update so i uninstalled to do a reinstall and now it wont load up says install failed. now i went though the whole proses of tearing down gm and installing all the apps and gm addon that had it working before like in the nexus how to. and that used to work but not now. so i am at a loss... as much as i like my gear this is proving to be a head ache. and i know i will be switching to moto 360 when it finally comes out. but i hate owning useless tech. so any advice or links would be very much appreciated.
Hey. One thing you can do is put the Gear over to Tizen and just install the Gear Manager like usual. I had that setup working fine on my G2 unrooted and the majority of things worked fine. Never had a connection problem, just weather and s-voice didn't work.
Try it and see. If not, follow the guide to go back to Android and do everything from scratch. Good luck.

Nope. I just made sure that I uninstalled every Gear Manager component, reset the Gear(in Tizen), downloaded the latest Gear Manager and started the sync. I can't see what difference there'd be between Moto and LG in the process. That's all I ever did with my Gear. I never had Android on it so I don't know if there's a different way of doing things.
Good luck

[Q] Help Please help, about to lose it.

I have had my galaxy gear 2 paired and working with my nexus 5. No issues other than wanting to install some of the other tizen stuff.
Anyway, today my phone upgraded to lollipop. After that, any attempt to open gear manager was getting a "Unfortunately, gear manager has stopped". I've tried so much. I tried the newest gear manager I could find: 1.7.031004. It keeps crashing as soon as you try to open it. I've rebooted my phone a ton of times, I've reset my watch back to defaults. If I uninstall that and attempt gear manager 1.6.111801. The bluetooth will connect to my watch but the gear manager keeps failing. I've tried a few other older visions of gear manager with no luck.
Does anyone have anything I can try to fix this? Ha, damn this is really upsetting me that samsung didn't just make this damn watch open to all phones.
Good luck with that. Honestly. Samsung is slow to update gear manager. It's probably not compatible with the Android L framework yet. When I got the Note 4, I couldn't access settings. It crashed every time.
I emailed Samsung about my displeasure and they told me I just had to wait until an update came out to fix it. Go figure. I am sure it will be compatible soon. :good:

Gear S2 will connect but app store won't work

Has anyone tried connecting a Gear S2/S3 to their Mi Mix? I got it to connect to my 3g Gear S2 just fine and gave all the apps all the permissions they needed (and then some) but the Samsung Pay app won't show up in the gear app for install and nothing, and I mean nothing, will show up in the galaxy app store. I've tried 2 factory reboots and rebooting my phone and still nothing. To me, the Gear S2 is worthless without a working galaxy app store. Anyone else have this problem or have a possible solution? My Huawei watch works perfectly as does my Pebble Time Steel so the Gear S2 seems to be the only one with an issue.
Please help! Thanks.
If I remember the Samsung store app won't run on non Samsung devices, could be wrong though. I dropped Samsung watches awhile back after the proprietary behavior they showed with the early Fit's ... went to a Moto 360 and haven't looked back.

Well I would agree except my Gear S2 works perfectly on my old Nexus 6P and Honor 8. So I'm thinking there is something that is blocking its use. I have noticed that the China rom blocks a few things (google opinion rewards for example). I've tried the latest global official rom too and it is even worse. I can't even connect the watch to the phone before the gear app just crashes. I guess it just won't work on MIUI. No big deal really as my Huawei watch is sufficient and nicer in my opinion.
I have the same error with my Samsung Pay Gear S2 app. Whenever I try to open it, it returns the error that Samsung Pay cannot be accessed by rooted devices for security reasons. Unroot your device to use Samsung Pay. I have downloaded the SuperUs app to try to unroot it and it says that no root detected on my phone. My Samsung Pay app used to work just fine until they upgraded it. Now it doesn't work anymore.
Does Samsung Pay work on non Samsung devices?
