I just received my Nexus One which I ordered through the Google Developer program (Brightstarcorp) and I'm not able to get it working with the Bell Mobility network for either voice or data
I have a signal bars on my N1 with a Bell Mobility SIM card but it dosen’t works.
When I slide down the notification bar it say "Bell" and try this to get it working.
I have tried all solutions and have the recommended settings on the phone (also running Froyo 2.2.1-Build number : FRG83).
- I tried my SIM to another Bell phone and it works.
- I tried another Bell SIM in my N1 and it did not work.
- I'm using an active data plan card not a prepaid card.
But it works with Rogers or Fido
I tried the following :
1.Go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators: after about 1 minute I see network the currently available Bell
I click on Bell and see a signal not working.
2. Go to the dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* this bring a hidden menu
3. tap on "Phone Information" It list the current network as Bell and also showing the IMEI and the Phone number. The IMEI and phone number are correct.
4. Hit the menu button and press "Select radio band" and click on "Automatic" .
5. Still not working I make sure radio band is set to "Automatic" then go back to the previous screen and scroll all the way to the bottom. Click under "set preferred network type" and choose through until I find one that works 1. WCDMA preffered or WCDMA only or GSM auto (PRL) it takes a few seconds from the time I click until the settings take place, just watch the signal bar at the top of the screen until it changes. Even try the "unknown" network type at the bottom of the list if the others don't work.
All the above fails.
For those of you out there who have successfully activated the Nexus One on the Bell network could you let me know which version of the phone you have.
Thanks for your suggestions.
well i am sorry to say but i dont think that the phone will work with Bell. the dev phones as far as i know are all AWS. so the only way it is going to work is if you get a rogers sim and use it on edge or a wind/moblicity sim and you can use 3G. bell does not have an edge network to back up on.
That's true. Bell/Telus has only the 3g network. The developer phone will not work. It will use edge/2g on Rogers/Fido. And will be fully supported on Wind or Mobilicity.
Nexus One with a Bell Mobility it dosen’t works!!
About Videotron?
Thanks
I am getting problem when I change a Network coverage area with AT&T Samsung Galaxy Captivate model number SGH-I897. Whenever I go out of any network area, the Network goes off and to connect to the network again I have to get someone's local SIM card and insert it to get connected to Network coverage. After inserting the local SIM in new location/roaming, again when I insert my own SIM it detects network. This is really strange.
Moreover in the Wireless and network -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators, it'll only give a Default setup option. Like other mobiles it doesn't show Manual and Automatic Network selection options.
Please help in this as I cannot use my Captivate while travelling in India as it goes off.
Can't you just get a replacement from where you got it?
Sent From My Captivating Shanna, yes I Named My Phone get over it.
I cant replace it as I am in India now. Any other way to correct this error.
Flash a custom Rom and you will get the the manual selection for networks, Somehow some phones does have this setting blocked i think build date 1009 and over not sure though, Please check urs and confirm.
@rkkaranrk : My phone Build number is Fasty II V1.6. Still I am not getting manual network selection. Any suggestions please post.
Build date is on a sticker on the phone underneath the battery. 4 numbers. First 2 indicate year, second 2 month. Mine is a 1010, for example which means it was made in october of 2010.
@studacris : The Build date on the sticker underneath the battery is 1105 i.e. 2011 May. Any suggestions.....
Try entering *#2263#, and have the phone default to 900 band it seems all 8 carriers in India support that band. Just a suggestion
@MZCaptivate :
Please let me know the detailed procedure to select. I had dialed *#2263# and selcted 900. How to verify its done.
Still it is giving me only Default setup under available networks

When you selected 900 which did you select it under, GSM or WCDMA? If you tried GSM then try WCDMA. To verify that your selection was successful dial *#0011#.
Dial *#2263#
Select [2]WCDMA or [3]GSM
Select [4]WCDMA 900 or [3]GSM900
Once you have made your selection press the Menu key and hit End
Dial *#0011# to verify

As i earlier said the manual setting are blocked on build on 1009 and above, i can confirm this on 1012/1101/1102 as i had personally checked the settings, On these model you cannot install apk files you have to DL all the application from the market.
As i said flash any custom rom you like and it will solve the problem.
Hi... Under = GSM band = when I select '[3] GSM 900 [*]' -> 'Select GSM 900 Only [*]' it asks for 'Select Row' ..... if I click ok without entering row number it gives following error :
Sorry !
The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly.
Please try again.

Please help in this
Hi all
Accidentally changed from service menu *#*#4636#*#
Bands to usa bands
Now lost signal. Can someone help me how to get signal back? Live in europe and I thinks its a cause.
"accidentally", i really doubt. since the phone doesnt accidentally dial the service code and change the info by itself.
Accidentaly clicked on us bands mode. Was trying to get battery temperate but wrong clicked on the first option
Dial *#*#4636#*#*.
Tap the three dots on the upper right.
Tap on "Select radio band".
Select "Band 6".
Exit.
Reboot.
Test the phone and data connections.
If the tests are successful, then you've restored the Nexus to working condition. Otherwise, repeat the steps above, but select "Band 7". If that still doesn't work, or the other band options are not available, flash a radio through recovery. According to this post from 2011, flashing the radio resolved the problem.
This isn't an answer...
Updating to androin n preview worked. Changing bands doesnt work. Custom roms like purenexus wonna help also seems like bug in android
Hi. My phone ‘s signal due to accidentally selecting USA BAND in *#*#4636#*#* menu. Help please.
Hi Anyone know how to set 3G as preferred network? Apparently I need to do this to be able to place calls through Vodafone's Sure Signal box, but the only options I see are:
4G (preferred)/WCDMA/GSM
WCDMA Only
WCDMA (preferred)/GSM
I see to recall there might be a settings menu which can be dialled in on the keypad to change what's displayed in this list

No you don't have to change anything. I have a Sure Signal box and the phone automatically drops back to 3G when in the house and picks up 4G when outside. Setting your phone to 3G means you're limiting yourself to only 3G masts and there are less and less of them these days.
Just make sure you have set up the Sure Signal box correctly.
Turn your phone off and take the sim out. Register it on the suresignal via the vodafone website. Wait ten minutes. Put the sim back in the phone and turn it on. It will then connect to the SureSignal. I kid you not, these are the instructions I got from being on the phone to Vodafone tech support. (I couldn't get my phone to connect to my newly purchased SureSignal box).
If you've added your phone and it's not connected, then go back into the control panel on the vodafone website and delete your phone from the suresignal, wait ten minutes and then follow the instructions above.
Edit: the menu you're looking for can be found by typing *#*#7378423#*#* on your phone keypad, but I advise against messing with it.
