well ive been downloading a couple of roms ending in "xxxxx.zip.jar" i was wondering if they can be simply flashed like regular update.zip files if i just renamed it update.zip.jar or what is the correct procedure i must take to safely flash my new rom or theme?

Those honestly sound like viruses to me. Like the stuff you find on the internet, "oh you want this pic? Download xxx.jpg.exe." DONT DO IT.
find the ROM links on this forum
I echo xsnipuhx. XDA is known for developer mods and ROMs and thus is a reputable source. Best to get it here if possible unless you trust the source you've downloaded it from. If you don't know where it came from to begin with then its not worth the risk.
i get them here, but they are links to 4share and when i download form there the zips turn into .jar files. which are some java type. but i just changed the extension from .zip.jar to just .zip and they functioned just fine. thank you guys though. btw i have a macbook so dunno if that has anything to do with the functioning working correct. Just flashed to Drizzy MyTouchFlo, real nice.

I want to add an ad-hoc network support to my Continuum 5.4.1.
At 2.2 roms I used the script from here:

and it was fine.
When I try to flash it, I get an error that the script needs to be written in Edify and not amned.
Do you know how to convert it, or find an Edify script?

Converting those is not specific. There is an app called Amend2Edify that should change it. Can't provide link, don't remember where I saw it.

Anyways the links to the Revolutions .tot files that jackpot08 posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337386 have gone stale and will not allow me to download them anymore. Does anyone else have these files (in particular the v7 .tot) and if so, could someone please upload them to some file sharing site and share the link. I love you all very much and keep doing what you do!

Hi all, i have searched the subforums and also since i have less than 10 posts i can't post this in the thread I wanted to.
Question:
I want to flash my hero with liquidsense 2.1.1 with VVM but the linky is dead. POst #444 has a more up to date link but after flashing , the vvm is not there.
Does anyone have the correct zip (Liquidsense 2.1.1 odex + VVM ) and could upload it for me ?

I second this. Anyone have it still?
Just do a search for sprint vvm in the forum or on google. when you find it, it could be a zipped file or apk file. if it's a zipped file, just extract the apk and install it using es file explorer.
Hey everyone I was doing some early spring cleaning on one of my computers and found an old "LiquidSense 2.1.1 Stable 691Mhz Mail+SprintVVM (Odex)-signed.zip" file. PM me if anyone want it.
Hope this helps out for those who don't know how to install apk's. Or anyone else who wants to play with liquidsoltice's file for that matter. He's given permission to do what ever you want to do it in one of the other threads. Just as long as you give him credit.

I've been looking everywhere for the stock froyo image for my wifi streak7. I've downloaded the tmobile images (as suggested on this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1018809) but I've also had reports of this bricking wifi-only models. Is it actually safe to install the tmo image on my device, or does somebody know where to find the images?
TheManii has a few files on a dev-host account. I am out of town for a few days or else I would provide you a drop box link with the stock files.
