Probably the issue is with your modem settings. Try to set fixed channel on wi-fi or/and change the range between 2.4 or 5GHz.

I've noticed that certain wifi devices seem to cause too much interference when used at the same time. I have no idea what exactly is wrong or how to fix it, but for example, I have an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200 wifi card in my laptop and quite often when a Broadcom device connects to the same access point, I experience heavy packet loss and often the link disappears completely after a short while.
So far I haven't been able to solve this, so I can't really help you, but if you do get this fixed, make sure to post the solution here, it might be related…

thanks for the replies but it's still getting disconnected and connection lost on all devices...i've tried:
1) changing my channel to 1 and 11.
2) changing the Channel Bandwidth from 20/40 MHz to 20 MHz.
3) On my BS i changed my wifi frequency band form auto to 2.4 GHz only.
by the way im using TPlink 150mbps wireless N ADSL2 + modem router

Have you tried to connect the phone without laptops? I didn't have any issues connecting to my TP-Link WR740N regardless of firmware (tried stock, openwrt, dd-wrt) with cable internet.

i have tried disconnecting my laptops and pc, with my BS only connected but the connection is getting disconnected.

I can only suggest to update the firmware of the router to the latest release from tp-link web-site and also you said that you've changed wi-fi frequencies on BS, try to do this also on the router itself.

[Q] Wi-Fi problem

Over the past few days my phone hasn't been wanting to connect to my wi-fi. I would have to turn wi-fi on and off several times before it would connect. Today it just stopped connecting all together. It now shows my network but says its "out of range" I'm withing 10 ft so I know it's not. Earlier today it would just say scanning and then disabled under the network name. Anyone know why it would not be working at all? Also I have a ps3 hooked up wireless and it works fine so I know it's not the router.

without knowing your specifics how can we help you?
are you rooted? what rom? version? kernal? recovery?
I had the same problem...got a new phone from att and still did the same. Did you try resetting your router...for some reason my captivate is sensitive to my router and even though everything else wireless in the house works fine the phone says wifi disconnected....hopefully resetting your router does it

Try changing the channel.on your router to channel 11 and then setting a static ip address on your phone.
I am assuming you are using a standard home user router such as a linksys or netgear and that you are using a captivate, so I doubt you are having issues due.to encryption or using the wrong type.wireless.

Router wifi - stucking on looking ip address - overcome? ?

Hi, i used to connect my notebook to internet thanks to router wifi of galaxy tab.
Everything worked well.
Two months ago, i went for overcome 1.4 and I had a great improvements on performances.
Now I found router wifi not working because is countinuosly stucking on looking ip address. I don't know if it happened because I changed ROM or other issues.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Restart Tab, Restart Router. Report back after that please.
Tab restarted. Computer restarted. Router wifi restarted.
Tried but same problem: stucking on ip looking.
I also tried tethering but same issue.
Do I need tp install something (like modem from overcome) ?
Thanks.

Did you restart the router fully?
I went to configuration - wireless - router wifi - and i flagged the router wifi option.
I'm not speaking about my router but the router wifi functionality inside the galaxy tab...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
As advised restart your router. i.e Unplug router from mains power. Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
As suggested. Power cycle all your devices. COLD boot them meaning. SWITCH them off till they are dead router, pc, and GTAB, wait at least 30 seconds. Fire them back on and try again. If you still have issues and you dont connect to Adhoc networks. Consider changing the wpa_supplicant of overcome to one from stock. You can find it in the overcome thread. Search for it.
Thanks for your suggestions but I'm not speaking about the normal router for the computer.
I'm speaking about the router wifi function inside the galaxy tab where you use the galaxy tab as access point wifi for any computer.... this is the router I mean (or access point) that doesn't work.
I think there is something in overcome ROM ... I also tried to setup as open access opint (that means without WPA) but same story.
Do I need to flash something in overcome ?
try a thether apk from marketplace as there are issues
mind you...each country has different galaxy tabs
here in the netherlands there are no restrictions and is all working including the phone and router functions

Nexus 7 WIfi / Router Issues

The Nexus 7 wifi connection hangs and disconnects with some routers / settings.
Connected to a Linksys e4200 v1 lan video streaming, slingbox streaming, and large file transfers hang after 2-4 minutes. Other Android devices connect fine.
Connected to a DLink dir-655 all is fine with the Nexus 7 and other devices.
To test I copied a 500MB mp4 file from my lan server to the N7.
On the e4200 the transfer hangs after 20+%, on the dir655 it completes as expected.
Anyone else notice something like this?

you should try changing the channel your router uses. I had the same issue with my phone/everything that uses wifi, and changing the channel to something less used fixed it all up
Linksys is crappy especially their firmware causing interoperability issues. Try looking for an alternative firmware. I use OpenWRT and Tomato releases on my Linksys and it works fine with Nexus 7.

It is on my list to try, but with so many other devices working fine, I'm not convinced.
No issues at all with my Actiontec MI424WR running in g/n mode, WPA2 enabled.

I think I may have the issue here. Sometimes my WIFI becomes unresponsive. It still shows as connected but it seems it doesn't transfer anything. sometimes some applications even says 'no connection, click to try again'... after a few seconds it comes back.

mine rarely turns grey... most of the time it stays blue but no movement. when in notice its happening, i can switch to another app, say play store and it will just sit there doing nothing, it will take a minute or so before start transmitting again.
is there a way to report this to google? wifi issues are very common nowadays and seems like it can be easily patched by them.
Only times I get grey WiFi is when I'm linked to either mine or my missus' phones when were out and about. Zero problems with connecting to peoples WiFi, used the awful Sagecom router that Sky provides, BT HomeHub3 and a few Belkin ones.
Maybe its an issue with your router rather than the tablet?

That's just because of the hardware and firmware being different. It's the norm with these tablets, however WiFi reception is still very good for me.
OP, I'm running a linksys e4200 myself and I haven't had trouble with it and I push it pretty hard downloading large roms and stuff. I help run an android hosting site so I spend a lot of time testing by downloading 560 mb roms over WiFi while I'm tweaking and recording data on performance increases and decreases.
My router has some settings adjusted but it's mostly just how it came out of the box.
I don't use 5 GHz spectrum because Android likes 2.4 much better.
I would use the WiFi analyzer app and check and see if you're on a good channel and next I would factory reset your router if possible.

[Q] Xperia T Wi-Fi problem

I just got an Sony Xperia T,
now I was trying to connect is to my router with the 5ghz-band, but the Xperia T can't find the network,
so then manually added the network, inserterd password, but then it says that the network isn't within reach,
but i'm sitting next to the router, the 2.4ghz-band works fine, and sony confirms that the phone should work with
the 5ghz-band in the white paper of the phone. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
BTW, my router is a Netgear WNDR3700 Dual Band.

On your router have you set it to dual band as a lot of the time they have it defaulted to 2.4 b/g so you'd need to change it to auto or whatever option allows all. On my Linksys it says 2.4 and 5 as an option in the dropdown. That would be the only reason I can think of. Have you tried with any other device to connect to your 5ghz network?
Likely a router compatibility issue. I can connect to a Linksys e4200 on 5ghz with no problems

My Xperia T refuses to connect to my WiFi AP. It's only 2.4GHz, but according to the logs on the AP, it isn't even trying. On the phone side I very briefly see "Connecting" or similar on the AP list, then it reverts to Saved.
Log on phone is filled with entries like this:
Code:
I/wpa_supplicant( 565): wlan0: Trying to associate with 00:0c:42:XX:XX:XX (SSID='LFWnet' freq=2412 MHz)
I/wpa_supplicant( 565): wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-ASSOC-REJECT bssid=00:0c:42:XX:XX:XX status_code=1
MAC's partially XX'd
This happened on the stock Vodafone ROM, and still occurs on the Generic UK posted in General. I have tried WPA and WPA2, TKIP and AES, different channels, disabling N etc etc, still the same
Tried soft/hard reboots, wipes etc, nothing. It has connected to other public and protected AP's fine.
Am gutted as changing my AP to work around this problem is a no-go. Not had any problems with various other laptops and phones, including other SE/Xperia devices.

I'm on generic UK rom and using a BT Home Hub without any problems. I've also got my old dLink wireless n router I use as a print server and it works fine with that too. My brother has a Sky router (Netgear I think) and that works fine.
I think you must be unlucky.
---------- Post added at 07:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:07 AM ----------
Is your SSID published? Have you tried turning off all security on the router to see if you can connect then? (obviously I'm not suggesting you leave it unsecured but it is something to try.)
Also, posting your router details may give you an idea if others have been successful with that router before you splash any cash on a new one.
Hi, my Xperia T also is not able to connect with my e4200 5 GHz WiFi. My Laptop and a Samsung Phone works without any problems... I read (sorry I don´t remember the forum link) Sony did not enable the 5 GHz frequency because of driver issues. But if it works on some phones, maybe it´s a provider specific issue like the permanent bootloader lock?
Might be worth updating the firmware of your router?

I think I found the problem, the 5ghz band of my router doesn't have much range appearently, when i'm trying to find the 5ghz band outside of my house, i can't find it, I can only find it when i'm in my room, that's where the router stands, but the 2.4 ghz band has a much better range, I can connect to is almost 20-30 meters outside of my house. I'm wondering when Netgear is coming out with an update for my router, hopefully that will solve the problem, or maybe it will be solved when the Xperia T gets an update to Jelly Bean.

Hi there,
I've just bought the Xperia T and I'm pretty disappointed I can't use my home wifi.
I'm having exactly the same problem - I can see my connection and connect (sometimes) but it is a very poor connection, then after a minute or says "Not in range". If I go outside (which is actually closer to where the modem is) I can get data at an acceptable speed.
Sorry I'm such a noob but can you explain to me where the limitation lies and how I might fix it. Every other device used in the house works - even an old iphone 3gs - I'm surprised Sony's newest phone hasn't implemented technology that must have been in use for years.
Or if it is the modem - any ideas on how to change it.
Sorry - can't give you details - the modem is locked in the landlords garage - so I can't see what make it is.
Thanks for helping a noob.
I have faced the same problem with my TX when connecting to my AP.
I think there is WIFI problem in receiving the WIFI signal of security mode WPA2/WPA.
You can change the WIFI security mode to WEP or No security.
My device can connect the WEP mode WIFI.
Hope you can solve the problem!

Hmmm, that's strange - my modem is set to WEP and it's not really a connection problem but a signal strength problem. But like I said - no other device has this issue. It is hard to test - right now I'm accessing this from a cloud connection which is average compared to another I used this morning, though much better than at home. But I don't know how close I am to the transmitter right now.
Hello again,
I'm still trying to get to the bottom of this:
So my Xperia T can connect and use the wifi in my house fine IF I am within 2-3 metres of my router, which has the following settings -
O2 Wireless Box, model - TG585v7
Software release - 8.2.7.7
Boot loader 1.0.0
Interface Type: 802.11b/g
Band: 2.4G Hz (This unfortunately cannot be changed)
It is currently set to WEP security but when I changed to WPA-2 there was still no change - could only connect when a couple of metres away.
Also even when holding my phone 10cm away from the router I still only get a "Good" connection. So I started to think it must be my phone that is faulty - I've been to coffee shops and picked up the free Cloud wifi ok, though one kept dropping in and out. And I have been into mobile phone shops testing their wifi and it connects.
But yesterday I went to Carphone Warehouse and compared to one of their demo Xperia T phones - the demo was connected to their wifi fine yet my phone could not even "see" their connection - I was sure it was my phone.
But now I'm really confused - today I went to a different Carphone warehouse - there was no demo phone but I picked up their signal and the quality was "Excellent" - something I'd never seen before.
My phone is locked to T-Mobile - can a carrier locked phone somehow restrict access to certain routers?? Seems very weird to me, though I am quite a novice at all of this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
locked phone won't block AP access... maybe backup your data and try master reset.. factory reset... don't need erase sd card.

Are you using the T-Mobile WiFi app? If so delete your connection from settings, then set your home WiFi via the T-Mobile app, it may be connecting to the open one not your full one.
If you don't use the app, I would change the channel on the router and try that.

wireless stops working when I connect RAZR-i to laptop

Has anyone else observed the following?
When I connect my new RAZR-i to my Windows7 laptop, my wireless session dies and I cannot connect anymore until I disconnect my RAZR-i.
If I am connected to the internet via a LANL line/cable, connecting my phone also kills the connection but after a few seconds I am connected again (w/o having to disconnect the RAZR-i).

I'm having quite similar wifi troubles with mine phone too and so far only happens with my university wi-fi haven't had the same problem anywhere else.
My problem is when ever i try to connect to the wifi at uni after I manually put my details to connect and when its saved the signal instantly drops down to nothing and my phone tries to connect forever.
It keeps saying connecting but when I forget the wifi network the wifi signal is jumps up back to perfect. My laptop and other android devices connect fine but with this phone as soon as i connect I lose wifi signal.
I don't have wifi at home but tried it with a friends wifi and it just connects fine.
maybe its because the razr gets recognized as a Network device? Had a similar problem while using a UMTS stick. always had to reboot my laptop to get a connection again with the UMTS stick.
How can I tell my laptop that the Razr isn't a network device?

In Win7 you connect your Razr and go to the Network settings where you see all your network adapters. There you have to right click on the razr modem and deactivate it. (Not 100% sure, can't test right now)
