[Q] Custom ROM [CM10] for Unlocked Sim - Motorola Droid 3

I want to install CM10.
My phone is from Verizon USA and now I have it in Mexico with another company, when I bought the phone the guy gave me the unlock code for the phone to be able to use any SIM
My question would be, if I install CM10 my phone will get locked again? And if so, with the same code I can unlock it again?
Thank u

No it unlocks at the hardware level so you are fine.

CM10 Stable?
Thank you NOw what worries me is some people saying there are problems with CM10 and GSM (not recognizing the SIM), but I was wondering, in case that happens, restoring the backup would it be fixed?
Has someone else tried CM10 and knows any bug or problems?

That is just a software bug if it happens to you. Easily fixable by going to a different ROM.

D3 in Italy

So in five days I am going to italy for spring break. And I have no idea what fixes I need for gsm and what roms work for gsm. So with that being said could some one point me toward necessary files for gsm
Thanks in advanced.

So I assume you'll be using an italian SIM? Else couldn't you just roam?
For usage with GSM-SIM outside of USA you need to buy an unlock code (ebay, etc?)
Apart from that, you'll have a big change it'll just work.
If it does not:
1) you have an old SIMcard
2) you need to do some edits (e.g. vodafone)
3) stock rom is giving you trouble (for me sometime 3G wouldn't automatically turn on)
Just make sure your SIM slot is unlocked and you will be good. I don't think you will need the AT&T/T-Mobile hack.

Sweet thanks guys. I don't need any hacks and the sim card is already italy ready. But for ics roms is there a fix that I would need?

[Q] SIM lock after JB upgrade, [FIXED] - sim unlock

all JB ROMs will sim lock your device and flashing the network lock fix + s2 unlock will not work. It's a strange situation where you can receive sms and place a phone call, but after first phone call, you lose the network signal and are unable to connect back to network. every time you go into settings - mobile network it tells you to insert sim. also data connectivity doesn't work at all.
anyone have any fixes or workarounds for this ?
only fix at the moment is to go back to ICS where the network lock + s2 unlock works :fingers-crossed:
same problem

seems i solved this myself :highfive: good news everyone, we can unlock it for free
seems i was able to solve it. the issue is that the network unlock apk and s unlock will only partially unlock your Note. so when you upgrade to another rom, because you only have a partial unlock it will re-lock your phone. the solution is to use the following tool galaxysim (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846451) when you are on ICS or GB (i have only tried this on ICS, so not 100% sure if it will work on GB). i would recommend you use the apk from xda and not the one from market, also do not update the app to latest version, use the apk from xda.
What i have done is :
1) Run tool from ICS and unlock. I already had partial unlock with network unlock from Criskelo and galaxy_s unlock from Helroz. GalaxySim now show full unlock.
2) Upgraded to JB ROM, phone did not ask for network unlock code as usual, phone was already fully locked.
I would recommend that you check the status of your sim lock before each upgrade to another ROM with GalaxySim and fully unlock it.
It's this easy. Took a while to figure it out, but hope it will help you.
i never looked my phone so i got no problems,

not all, no reported case on roms cm or aokp/sp based.
There isnt an official stock jb out yet for n7000..... just one leak...
an unlocked efs backup works, just restore whenever a flash causes your phone to be locked.
So you are using a leaked beta rom. Full of bugs so not ready for daily lol.

tried that already, with a backup efs from ICS and it didn't work for me. but still unsure why the network lock is happening on the phone, as i can use it on multiple providers in my area.

[Q] Changing providers and unlocking phone

I might need to change service providers soon because Koodo is just sucking right now. As such, my phone needs to be unlocked. I would be paying Koodo for the service so that I don't have to run the risk of bricking my S5830D (can you brick your phone attempting to unlock it?). However, my little Ace is running CM9.1 RC4.1 by Wayland_ACE.
I don't know the SIM unlocking procedure and I was wondering if I would need to flash back Koodo's Stock ROM (where can I get that by the way?) and unroot it to have it unlocked.
I also heard of unlock codes around these forums and was wondering what they were, does Koodo just give me a code that I enter somewhere to SIM unlock? Please give me any information that you can on this matter.
Koodo charges $50 to unlock the SIM. Is there a safe and simpler less expensive method to unlock the SIM?
Thanks in advance.
Did you ever manage to get ur ace unlocked?

Haha ok. I borrowed the gf's sim when i did mine. It feels good to have the freedom to use any network, especially when you own the phone. :sly:

[Q] Unlock Question

I have a Captivate that I am using for a media player (no sim card). Right now I am running REMICS 4.2.
My son-in-law broke his phone and I want to let him use mine but he is on a different carrier.
Do I have to go back to stock or GB in order to unlock? And yes, I have tried the apps and the codes for checking lock/unlock does not work with JB.
Thanks in advance for any help!!!:good:

I think the app does work on JB gotta input the code while the other SIM card is in the phone.
If I'm wrong, you might need to be on stock GB but doesn't make much sense to me
GalaxSim Unlock app by Spocky from the Play Store. The ability to do the unlock isn't free but should do the job on the JB Rom.
The other unlock app by helroz, u would have to flash back to Stock first then unlock...i think.

There would also be the manual way... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045 it's not as simple as downloading an app but it's very effective and permanent.

So now you have the free choice to choose your OS did you want stock OS? Do you want GB or ICS Stock? Or you want CM or MIUI there are so many guides here that tell you what you need to do just say what you want.
Besides wouldnt it be nicer to have a OS that not labeled on a Provider?
I would like ics on it

Well ICS stock rom OR CM?
You should Consider changing the Bootloader to the ICS Bootloader some bugs are resolved in this. and most new ROM´s are build for the new one.
So CM, MIUI or Stock based?
Stock

Actually wouldn't I need fido OS on it if I can reuse my code to unlock it again or would it be unlocked still.
