[Q] Low volume with head phones - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I own note 2, S4 and note 3. When using headphones with note 3, the volume is very low compared to my other devices. I am using original note 3 head phones. Anyone else with this issue?

Seems OK to me. Was Jamming out to some Hatebreed yesterday and it was loud enough

These phone manufactures really don't want you listening to loud music. I find this very annoying. Even the iPhone 5S doesn't go very loud.

Not sure about you guys but my UE Triple-Fi 10 and Monster Turbines are making me deaf (I'm using PlayerPro Music Player.)

I also feel that the max volume is low. Aux out to my car or boombox gets maxed out with ease - my atrix definitely gets louder.
Also there is always some minute feedback.
Hoping for a sound mod like for my Nexus 7

Yea, same thing with me. Headphones are good and loud, but sucks with the AUX cable in the car.

This is really worrisome. I have audio glitches where max and min volume get stepped down and is much quieter. Anyone have any apps or root methods to fix this.

You can use Neutron Player. There is a preamp slider in the equalizer screen. If you enable the preamp and advance the slider, you will get additional volume albeit at the expense of fidelity. I , too am annoyed at the feeble volume. I am especially annoyed at the stupid warning screen at 75 percent volume which you have to press the ok button to advance to max volume

Root it and use xposed framework and wanam module to get rid of the warning. There is a thread that has the modded volume tweak file in Q&A I believe.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498747
I was going through the original of the file that is modded and it looks like stock settings for most audio outputs are set between 60% and 80%. A lot of room to adjust.

anyone notice that if you get a notification while listening to music, the volume max is greatly reduced and does not return to normal? very irritating.

I'm looking to boost system volume. Even this app wasn't enough. Maybe the speaker is just weaker than i anticipated thus the headphone jack.
Audio boost here and Free!!! (pay donate if u want)
Ive looked around and found one that can increase yr volume its called Galaxy Tuner, on android market, maybe for Galaxy phs i dont know just try it, but to get the volume use the equalizer! use slider 100db 80-90% up for a bit more bass, but manly use these 2 sliders 875db and 2400db to round 70% any more will just distort sound, it will be a bit more tinny sound but louder great for shap noises like bird ring tones or sounds like sirens etc just play around but dont go max its crappy distortion! and u can save setting under what ever name! NOTE: using head phones will sound better, but make a setting "For Head Phones" and a setting "For External Speaker"

Solution for improving the sound on the nexus 7 - no root required

For those who think the volume is not loud enough on the nexus 7, download the free app called Music Volume EQ. Open the app and click on the EQ button, this will go to the equalizer screen and you have to set the equalizer to "ON" and move all the 5 bars all the way to the top(move it to +15) and then that is it. You can close the program and keep it running in the background. I have not noticed any battery drop with it. It improves the volume alot. No root required.
How's the actual sound quality? I'm no expert on this, but wouldn't a boost this large start to introduce distortion?

Why don't you try it?
Anyway my investigation reveals that maxing out all volumes does induce a little distortion under bass, though I was listening to dubstep.
At 75% (Stock 50%, max 100%) on the application, volume was significantly improved, and distortion remained minimal.
I would suggest experimenting what works for you best, as not all speakers are made the same.
Strong suggestion OP.
I'm using "volume+ (volume booster) by meltus. It increased my volume by 50% with no distortion.

Sure it does....I'm stock on the N7 and it works perfect. I've been using it since last year when I bought the HTC sensation, if it wasn't for this app the sensation would be unusable. I'm now using it on the GNex as well.

The bs player has it's own volume control that will make the sound much louder.Just swipe up on the right side of the screen while playing a movie to increase the volume louder than the stock controls will allow.

Yeah I meant to say maximize the EQ settings but the stock volume can be altered as needed. But yeah if the stock is maxed as well there will be distortions and won't be good for speeker

[Q] The sound is very low !

Hi all,
here for a month now I have this wonder, but I noticed that the speaker sound is low compared to Xperia S, Galaxy or Iphone, and sound with headphones is low.
Has anybody this problem?
A solution?

Thread moved. As it's your first post I'd just like to remind you that question threads have their own section here in Q&A. Please try to post in the correct sections going forward.

Agreed, in my limited experience the T has great sound. My wife has sgs3, which is definitely a bit louder, but the quality of sound on T is possibly a bit better. Use equalizer as mentioned above, but you will get distortion if you push the base just a little higher, Sony seem to have focused on providing a fuller sound rather than just a loud one. You can also turn of xloud in sound settings to reduce distortion when volume is max.

Headphones volume....

For example:
I watch videos in YouTube with headphones. And the sound volume is very very low. Yes i change the volume to the latest.
I tseted it with 3 headphones and everytime the same.
Before it was working very good. I am at rooted stock xxlqe.
What can i do?
Sry for my english

Well in my case this was headphones issue. Stock ones or one cheap pair without mic were both 'just ok' when maxed volume on android. Those got broken and I have bought pair from sony - still not high end as I do not need high end - that mid one is perfect and now I am using 10 - 50% range on volume control - higher is too loud in general and peaks are over transmission chart for them so sound gets distorred.
Btw check sound controls on youtube and on android - maybe youtube flash player controlls were lowered by accident.

Checked the settings. But still tge same. I think i must do factory reset and wipe.
