Hi.
I have a stock Xperia Z and there is a number I wish to block. I can't find a built in block feature in the phone app.
Can someone help me how to block a number please??
Thankyou

The best you can do with the stock phone app is to send their call to voicemail.
When adding or editing a contact, there is an option at the bottom of the page to check 'Send calls directly to voicemail'.
I wish there was a proper blacklist function personally, like on my wife's S3. She can block numbers not in her contacts and use wildcards etc to do so.

You can assign to that number a muted sound file (search at Google) . It won't block it but you won't listen to it.

Hi
On my HTC I was able to send group text messages to just mobile numbers that i had setup in gmail but on the xperia T it sends it all numbers associated with that contact. So my group of 58 ppl becomes 93 numbers. Is that an xperia T problem or my custom ROM.
Thanks

ok, I am on that rom and i dont have any groups set up, i will test it tomorrow and let you know
Just downloaded from play store group text, and it had an option to show mobile numbers only, and no limit to number of recipients u can send to so, got there in the end but HTC did it as standard just thought xperia could do it too.
Thanks for looking into this. Would like the stock apps to do this.

i have just set up a group to test it and when i goto the group and choose send group message it gives me a list of numbers to choose for each member in the group.
There is also an option to "remember the selection" so next time it will just pick that number....
So it does work in stock message app...
So today I have downloaded an app called CallRecorder by SKVALEX from Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5za3ZhbGV4LmNhbGxyZWNvcmRlciJd
I have tried the MOD posted in the forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200008&highlight=call+recording
but I could not get it to work so I thought I would share an alternative method that worked for me.
So after downloading the app I went into preferences and tried the different settings until I found one that worked on my phone.
To get the call recording to work, go to app preferences and:
1) Under device select "Other"
2) Set Record Calls from "Standard Android Api"
3) Set Call recording format to: "WAV"
4) Go to Standard Android API preferences and in Audio source choose: "default"
and voila now you should be able to record calls on your device.
My phone is rooted but this method should work on both rooted and unrooted devices.
Does it record both sides when you use Bluetooth?

It should record everything. There are a lot of options in the app settings menu so you might have to try a different setup if the one in my post does not work for you. You can always purchase the app, try if it works in the 15 min refund period and if it doesn't just refund it back.
I personally have not tested it with bluetooth
This app needs root! Or not?

I have bought this app and I use it with my galaxy s2, but when I use Bluetooth, it records only the other side. If this app could record both sides with Bluetooth on xperia z, then it could be a good reason to buy it.

Works on Xperia z (non root) during call.
I can hear myself and the person on the other line
With latest version 1.3.5 full of the app
No need to change any settings.

thanks, but seems not working for me, either cant record anything or just my voice
Sony has implanted a "built in" call recorder, It was desactivated but it will be available with my new rom
the OP's settings works for me but the caller's voice is much softer than mine.
Am rooted and running CM10.1 for those who are interested.
The app did ask for root permission when I used it.
Hope this helps...

This work 100% on Xperia Z, I will test and all is perfect
i thought auto call recorder was a paid for app?
Skvalex CallRecorder works perfectly on my stock phone 10.1.A.1.434. Can hear both caller and myself clearly. Somebody care to check if it works on newest firmware 10.1.1.A.1.253. (After upgrading my Razr I to JB it stoped working and no downgrade path, forcing me to by a new phone. Thus on XZ now, happy with that, but I don't want it to happen again.)
Edit: CallRecorder works perfectly on .253 Swedish ROM. I have root and the app says "granted root access" but I don't think that root access is necessary.
Works on stock, no root .253

Strange how it works for some people and not for others, a country thing? I'm on Swedish stock firmware standard app settings.

When I pull down my notifications, the user picture on the toggles page is blank and when I touch it, it says "contact does not exist". Any idea how to set it up to get my contact info and pic there?
Nevermind, I figured it out. Gotta set up a local profile in the People app.
The other option is to log into Google Plus. It will automatically fill it.

Is it just me or there is no option of phonetic names in the contact app in sp 4.1.. whereas it is a fucntion of android 4.1..?? any solution?
any body?
Not sure what you mean phonetic names?
When in contacts I can see down the right hand side letters and if chosen will take you to that letter.
Or if in dialler I can spell name and it shows what numbers or named are linked..
Don't think this is what you mean but could you explain a bit more what it is you can't do.

phonetic names are assigned to the contacts for voice recognition simplicity. All names are not english and google voice recognizer often missspells the contact name. phonetic names allow you to record the name in your voice to easily call the contact or send a text message to it through google now. Its a feature of android 4.1 but I can't find it in any of the sony phones that i have used. follow the above link
I have tried sending the Google contacts app to my Sp but I get a parsing error.
Would another contacts, dialler work.....never really used voice dialing

its basically useful when using google now, in calling and send messages through it. but google now doesnt recognize names other than english or the given language.. phonetic names allow it to recognize it in your own voice.. but cant find it in my phone
I have just tried whitemamba aio pack and in this is the people app which allows phonetic names maybe this will help you.

Okay I will try.. But still curious that why did Sony removed this feature of Google now.. Odd

Hi guys I need your help. I recently received a phone call which showed the caller's completed name. Well, I don't have that contact's name saved and once I clicked it disappeared. I have googled for a solution and seen a way but it doesn't work on the Note7 anymore. Long press empty space, widget, settings.... <----- There is no setting widget. Does anyone know how to recover this lost notification or a way to know the caller's name? Thanks in advanced.
