review:my first note 2 extended battery - Galaxy Note II Accessories

Finally get my note 2 first extended battery. I recently found out my Note 2’s battery is not as good as it came with out of the box(used almost a year), so I decided picked up new batteries and I received these two batteries(8500mah/4500mah) a week ago. Though I didn't take any screenshot yet but I must post them later cuz I am really impressed that how much extra juice it gives me! Yesterday I test it with GPS on 2+ hrs, played games for 1hr 40min, watched a movie and huge mounts of streaming videos, musics, etc. Actually this is my normal day usage and I am completely satisfied with the result: from full charge to I went to bed it still remain almost half juice(about 4 hours of screen on time)!
This is the bulky one. They provide a extra case, fits great but I want one look better...

This thing easily beyond all other OEM batteries for my other previous phones in battery life. Sure, it will be a bit expensive than those OEM but I think it already a pretty decend price in such quality. I'm really a heavy user and I hope this battery will be still awesome even after a few charge cycles.
also buy a small one as alternative, but not use yet. MPJ said it works as good as the original one.

So you post zero information about the battery itself? Manufacturer, model number, capacity, price, link??

no..not an OEM one. I bought some OEM batteries for my previous S3 worked not bad but not giving too much extra juice so i tried some new on my note 2 this time... uploading pics now

My two cents

i think that it is not even important if it is OEM or not. I also use an extended batt from Mugen, and I am quite happy with it. The only important issues are: whether or not they deliver the extended juice you bought them for, and to be able to recharge and provide enough useage cycles to make them cost effective. And, by the way, from the image I believe it is not a battery, but a "battRery". Cheers.

Phat extended battery is probaly less than 6200mah and that supposedly 4500mah stock battery is more than likely less than the 3100 mah stock battery. Not trying to come off rude, but only companies I ever have trusted were Anker, ZeroLemon, Qcell and even tho its too damn pricy... Mugen.
Sent from my note 2 ya bish!

There is no way that either of these are the mAh they claim.
Both are too small.
Come on guys. Please peel off the labels before posting a review of a battery claiming magical properties.

lol...yes,i saw the "battrery" before buying it and i thought i shouldn't rule it out only based on this xD.. I have to spend time to see whether they are able to provide hundreds charge cycles as the advertisement claimed. Personally, i also agree with all you guys that their adverts are exaggerating, but since it is my first time, am pretty satisfied to see my note 2 is able to last 2 days out of a charge

I agree with you guys. Exagerating or not, for example (and God is my witness I do not work for either of them manufacturers) my 6 month old Mugen 6400mAh (as advertised) gives me real extended performance (1) light phone useage as in several phone calls and sms daily - battery lasted 14 days until 10%; (2) average useage as in music player for maybe 6 hours of flac while fishing, some fm radio (3-4 hrs maybe), continous barometer and weather station for 24 hrs, 2 hours of bluetooth gps navigation, double number of calls than in case 1 and longer, 10 minute calls... like... used up appx 20% of battery in 24 hrs; I have not yet used the phone HEAVILY to have relevant info... (can't watch movies while fishing but I'll try) but I believe these figures make me feel that my battery is much MORE powerfull than stock 3200 mAh of the Note2.... I don't know if proportionally (double) stronger to the price differential compard to stock (Mugen is like 100USD) but I really am happy since I can leave for several days without feeling pressurized by the need of recharge.... Cheers.

Further update please.

so far so good, it's been almost the end of the work day and it's still on 74%
i'm going to run it a few more days, before i give my recommendations
also i'll reset the counter tonight midnight, and let it run a whole normal daily cycle to see how long it can last without recharging.
then repeat the process with the stock 1500 mAh battery
but just for reference, the stock battery by this time of the day, is already way down to 50% or less
sorry shaky hands

I hope this has more juice than the stock ones... normally anything the same size usually doesn't run any longer... heres to hoping it does!
There's been a lot of testing of aftermarket batteries... and they usually hold 70-80% of what they claim, so I'll be really surprised if this battery lasts any longer than the stock Samsung one. If it does, then that's great, I might pick one up, but I'm very skeptical... maybe a placebo effect?
The only way to really test is to get a voltmeter or do some controlled testing like video playback looping.

Lithium-ion is a low maintenance battery, an advantage that most other chemistries cannot claim. There is no memory and no scheduled cycling is required to prolong the battery's life.

http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/is_lithium_ion_the_ideal_battery
There is only one way to charge lithium-based batteries. The so-called 'miracle chargers', which claim to restore and prolong batteries, do not exist for lithium chemistries. Neither does super-fast charging apply. Manufacturers of lithium-ion cells have very strict guidelines in charge procedures and the pack should be charged as per the manufacturers "typical" charge technique.
Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days.

Although lithium-ion is memory-free in terms of performance deterioration, batteries with fuel gauges exhibit what engineers refer to as "digital memory". Here is the reason: Short discharges with subsequent recharges do not provide the periodic calibration needed to synchronize the fuel gauge with the battery's state-of-charge. A deliberate full discharge and recharge every 30 charges corrects this problem.

Ok this is my first review ever so don't point and laugh. lol

And I havent done some heavy usage yet but today I went to work at 2pm left at 1am and the battery was at 51% when I got home, so this is just what I need because the normal 1500mah battery could not last me a day at work. here is a pic of today's performances

So I how you like my review and get one for yourself, and the price is perfect $10!!!
I would rate the Samsung Nexus S i9020 EXTENDED BATTERY + COVER 3800 mAh a 9/10 it would have been a perfect score but if only that battery cover would have fit.
so i have almost 200 views but no comments?

It's easy.....if you barely use the phone. For example, right now I still have 68% battery left after 12 hours and 3 minutes. That being said, my screen on time has only been 1 hour and 26 minutes and has only used 37% percent of the battery, with Handcent second at 16%. Continuing this course I could easily make it to a day and a half, maybe 2 days. But, alas, today was actually pretty unusual for me and I typically have 3-4 hours of screen on time and am usually at between 20 and 30 percent by this time of day.
i got the new extended battery as well and i love it cause i can use it heavy all day and not worry about it...having wifi running all the time and data when not connected oh n heavy game user and the battery is sweet...no more having to worry about conserving battery when i am out and about

i get same results with the regular battery... what is your use for this phone? are you sure it is working properly? are you stock?
i usually get:
battery at 50% with 12hrs of use and 1h40m of display on.
but just in case, i bought a regular generic battery on ebay for 5usd i guess, and i keep it in my car, i think i needed it two times in the last 4 months! =oP

Wow - so you guys really think that the stock battery at less than half the capacity of the seidio extended battery can get the same results with the same usage. You're stating that on your phone the laws of physics don't apply? What kind of crack are you smoking?
I have the seidio as well. There is no way that the stock battery can compare. It's simply not possible to get 3500 mAh of usage out of a 1500 mAh battery. You might be able to extend the life of your stock battery by crippling your phone with limited functions, apps, and usage, or a better rom that is more efficient, but side by side you will never be able to match the extra capacity. Throw that seidio in your tweaked phone and the life will be doubled.
We were comparing his results to ours. I get that kinda battery life on my stock battery and no I'm not smoking crack

I don't know it looks pretty good to me. You might get a similar screen on time with stock battery, but I doubt you'd have ~20% left and had streamed music(guess from screen shot) for part of the day.
I mean, he still has 20% left to go. And from the looks of it, screen shot and cell standby, he doesn't have a very good signal either

Got a link for a test of a seidio that didn't perform? Perhaps you've been reading reviews of cheap knockoff batteries.
Here's a link to testing that proves just how much extra capacity they do have. Seidio isn't the particular one, but this one appears to be high quality.

Now pardon me while I make sweet love to my battery. With the extra capacity I can set it on vibrate for a long long time.

At $90, they are late to the party for Droid 4. I can't imagine shelling out that kind of money on an extended battery when the phone is already showing it's age so clearly. Hopefully there will be a Droid 5 that is a true flagship level device.

I know I saw somewhere someone saying they were having problems with the extended batter not reading correctly. Sounds like this Mugen app might help solve that issues.

Yeah, at this point the D4 is only around until I can find something better (which by the looks of things, might be awhile.)
Had this come out year one, I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
Just bought one. Given that I was ready to try and hunt for some alternative similar sized batteries and hack up a case for it... I'm willing to deal with some pre-made bulk.
Hi
I also bought a Mugen battery but I have a problem with the battery indicator. I am using CM 11 from here and the battery indicator (on the top right) is going down very fast - at the same speed as the old battery. So I installed the app "battery monitor widget" and there it shows 1740mAh and not the full 3800mAh. I already used the Mugen calibration app but nothing changes.
Best wishes

I didn't see this post about that massive battery before today. Instead, I bought a 2850mah (or so they say) battery that I will link you guys to below. I just installed it, so I'll let it die and then charge it up to 100% and re-calibrate.

Wow Price is right, only $12 free shipping, as long as it doesn't blowup on you.

i don't believe running battery down till phone shuts off, helps that much in calibrating, and I know it's not good for the battery.

What is the safest battery percentage range of the Note 9?

Hello. It has been just 2 days since my Note 9 arrived. Everything is perfect. I wonder about the battery percentage range. I mean, you know, it is harmful to go from "0 to 100" all the time. This is my first Android after 4 years of IOS jail...
What is the safest method? Thank you!
If you search in the Note8 forums I remember reading some posts on battery life/health long term and the general opinion, some backed with links to studies, was that the optimal range was between 40-80%. I'm no expert, but from what I read and looked up at the time, I think that was mostly correct, however I get the impression most people (including myself) don't actually charge their phones that way. I think a lot of posters said they didn't let their phone drain too low, and certainly not to 0, but happily charged them up to 100% every day/night.
As I say, some searching on these forums, or even just googling should give you the answers you want. Hope it helps! ?

Apparently that is the correct way to charge lithium based batteries. I have my quarrels about it though because of the heating aspect. If the device is charged that way, and the device is heavily used, it will end up getting very hot which is what happens in my case. Heat causes extra wear and tear on batteries, and actually causes them to discharge more rapidly, and take a lot more time to get charged. So using the 20-60% or 30-80% method on a heavily used device just might not be the best way to care for the battery.
I'm still struggling to find a balance of charging on my Note 8. Still haven't found a good solution as yet considering that it's rooted so it's limited to 80% max.
I've been doing the accubattery 40-80% "most" of the year with my Note 8. It claims my 3300mah battery has 3213mah remaining.

Since I got it. I do go to 100% when I'm tethering for long periods of time so there have been many times when the phone was topped off. I normally do the 80% though and the battery has held up well. I've had the Note 8 since release.
There are so many studies and opinions about this subject. Its like diet, one day we should eat margarine and not butter the next study shows the complete opposite?
To that end, as yet I don't think we are going to get a positive, reliable, professional answer?
Battery paranoia is not healthy been there. Just use the mobile and enjoy it.
Ryland
Been doing the 40-80% as best I can since ownership.

Just playing devil's advocate..... But isn't only charging to 80% and basically not using 20% worse than over the course of say a year, losing 15% battery health??? Your still getting more battery use and over the course of time much more hours of usage. Unless your plan is to have the phone for 2+ years which most ppl on XDA don't do.

I don't get the point of sweatin' over the battery.
Why waste your time and worry, seems like people are still stuck in the mindset of 2013 or so.
Just top.it off overnight, or, while you're getting ready for work/etc & it should have enough juice for the day.
It's akin to having a garaged sports car & never taking it out for a drive, why bother.....
