Lag on modern combat 4 - LG Optimus 4X HD

I downloaded modern combat 4 and whenever I shoot or whenever someone else shoots it lags/ fps drops quite badly. I am running stock rom with iodak kernel. My brothers nexus 7 runs the game fine. Is there any rom or kernel that you could suggest?

heard Cyanogenmod was pretty good for gaming, try that and if it still lags, try custom kernels over it.

[Q] ROM Performance?

Hello, Do ROM's like CM7 and Darky's ROM etc improve gaming and CPU performance? because im playing Shadow Gun and it's lagging like hell... will installing custom ROM fix this?
P.S sorry for being noob I'm just looking for reasons to flash custom ROM
You won't see a massive difference between ROMs but there is a slight difference. Chainfire from market impacts on performance if used correctly. also I do recommend ICS ROMs. I feel that games run more smoothly on them .

I think that in any ICS ported rom there's a little bit of increase in graphic performance.

Difference in performance is very high to me, but if you want a STABLE ROM I suggest to use Darkyy's one or CM7 stable release...
I'm on ICS by teamhacksung now but I agree with bugs anounced!

If i install darky's rom for example will that stop lag in shadow gun?
I don't now, but I can post my results in Qaudrant and you can see if they are better or not...
I remeber you that I'm on ICS 4.0.3 now, therefore I can only suggest you to give a try to Darkyy's or CM7 and try your game performances...
I only use fruitninja and works like a charm.
If I can help you in flashing other rom just tell me something.
Shadow gun is a very demanding game and the galaxy s has lacking hardware for optimal game play. Software can only do some optimization. You will not get a totally smooth experience with any rom.

Quadrant scores mean absolutely nothing.
For a game like ShadowGun to run as smoothly as possible, I suggest a Froyo ROM and RAM optimization scripts such as ThunderBolt or SuperCharger.
Give up froyo. Go for latest rom and midnight kernel. No ext4! And use agressive lmk settings. And delete all bloatware (you can use my huge list) and use adw launcher with no widgets. Only search and 4 shortcuts. Overclock a little bit. You can't believe your eyes.

Lolz you're sooo wrong. I will put a video for you. It will contain dungeon defenders, shadowgun, blood glory, gta 3, modern combat 3, dungeon hunter 2, nfs shift, asphalt 6 I'm playing all without microlags. Even smoother than most of dual core htc phones. We have a secret weapon that is sgx540 but you must know how to use it

Using your technique described above essentially strips the phone to a minimal and restricts how one would normally go about with an android device. For me that shows sgs lacks hardware for hardcore games.

Let me see this video. I'm calling you out on this, so post a link. I want to see gameplay from ALL of the games you just listed, and if I see absolutely no lag at all then you'd have proved your point. I'm not expecting 60 fps on each of those games, but if you can even achieve 35+ constantly, then it's definitely lag free.

It doesn't, I'm on darky's 10.2.2 now and shadow gun plays smooth as hell, with default it was at like 10fps, now just seems standard 30+fps...
I'd recommend flashing an ICS rom, as the UI is awesome and I also feel like the games/apps run smoother.

Naa, It's only on build #13 at the moment and isn't final release so it won't be super-stable like darky's rom.

[Q] can anyone tell me??

Is our processor that bad when compared to Tegra 2 ?:sly:
Because I played subway surfer and I can tell u that my incredible s can't play the game as smooth and fast and responsive as the atrix for example (Tegra 2 device)
I even overclocked my cpu to 1.8 but still there is a drop of frames per second and the game lags like hell
The atrix run the game so smoothly even if it's not clocked at 1 GHz (not over clocked)
I am so disappointed in my device
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda app-developers app
Tegra is dual core, ours is single core. Ours is also a year older than the tegra. There's no nothing to be disappointed in because our phone is nearly 2 years old, and our processor 2 and a half years

For games try hunterwu kernels. I think, extreme overclocking (1.8) is bad idea. Our processor can work normaly 1-1.4 GHz.

(Game) lag?

My gs1 is running on cm10.1.
While playing simple games like Temple run it lags pretty bad making gameplay annoying. Not running any apps in the background. Why do I have this? Any fix?

Try live overclocking, which gives more power to CPU and GPU, or try Slim Bean RC1 - Temple run 2 is really smooth, and AnTuTu gives 4800-5100 points (over 2000 points in 3D), so it's the best ROM for now.

Change your Rom to Vanilla Rootbox. Temple Run 2 runs lag free without OC/OV. Best Rom for SGS1 based on my experience from countless Rom flashings.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 Vanilla Rootbox
Kernel: Mackay 0.240
Instead of overclocking your general cpu speed you should try to use the app PerApp. It lets you set min and max cpu speed and other stuff for each individual app.
If you are a gamer then try gamerzrom, its the best by far

How emulators run on this device?

Hello, i dont have this phone yet but i have it on my list.
My question its how emulators run on this phone? I know tegra3 will have problems
with some apps on EA and gameloft but how it runs on emulators?
I dont mean snes,nes,sega...i mean on the heavy ones
Like n64oid, FPSE with opengl, PPSSPP, mame4droid reloaded or any experimental
emulator like Nintendo DS, Dreamcast, etc.
But mostly on n64 and FPSE with opengl its my question.
Because i want a new cellphone for emulators and youtube...and my current options
are this or motorola razr i
Thanks by the way, and sorry for my bad english.
I'm using PPSSPP a great and promising emulator of PSP and Dragonball Z Shin Budokai or Pes 2012 are lagfree however you have to change the settings to play with no lags.
I also tried Dsoid, a Nds emulator, which runs perfectly with all games I tried

I tried PPSSPP after I saw your post to play my favourite game Loco Roco. It runs smooth but with distorted graphics. Can you recommend any settings to play it with proper graphics?

Under settings go to the graphics settings and desactivate the buffered rendering this will improve a lot your graphics also active the stream VBO
I also choose the big buttons cause the buttons are too small for me
That's all I think I do

You can activate the buffered rendering, that will decrease your graphics but will improve the performance. You can also play with the settings of the app to see which configuration fits you perfectly.
You can change your governor to "performance" too.
I do not know this game but he may be a little bit to recent to work smoothly on our phone.
For example, I can play Pes 2013 but it is a bit laggy and i have to change de settings

PPSSPP is only in beta so lags can caused by the program, and its not all compatible with every PSP games. I dont tried all emulators but i think all casual game emulators are lag free.

If you want to reduce the heat, you can undervolt try different combination of scheduler and governor, that may solve your problem.
However, I have to admit that my phone heats up a lot when I play heavy games and charging (with fast charge) at the same time.

Nah.. No matter what tweaks we will do, there will still be heat on our device. I'm convinced that the 40nm on Tegra 3 is to blame.. Though I haven't tried playing on device with 28nm process though...
