How easy has Motorola made it for customs ROMs?

Ive seen a couple of leak pictures of a Droid 5 and Im intrested but only if it has a unlocked bootloader and if custom ROMs can be flashed. I wanted to know how is this going in the new Moto X phone now that Google is involved.

New boss same as the old boss. Still locked down in the US on AT&T and VZW.

It is not the manufacturer who is the problem with locking down the bootloaders. It is the carriers that are requiring it. Motorola wants to sell the phone, AT&T and VZW say well you have to lockdown the bootloader if you want to use it on our network. So Motorola says alright. Thats why they will offer a Developer Edition, because if you buy the phone outright at full price, AT&T and VZW are unable to control it.
But on the bright side, the T-Mobile version will not be locked down per Motorola as far as we know. So there may be a chance to find a factory restore image for T-Mobile and push it to the AT&T model and resolve this issue.
I currently am using an LGOG from AT&T and while I was able to unlock it, there were alot of kernel issues at first with the phone due to LG. But we were able to flash the Nexus 4 factory restore image via the LG software and basically have an Nexus 4 and be able to use any of their roms. Just wait for it to get popular and get some Devs behind the phone.

I own this phone as well, and I found the thread that was referenced to you, before you posted your thread. So yes, you needed somebody to search it for you. Most people have the problem of searching a forum before posting. I search intensely before creating a thread, as you should do.
EDIT: and having under 40 posts and yet I can handle using the search box. Maybe you should put some effort into searching. It isn't only me that gets annoyed when people beg for other people to search for them.

Just a fyi dude,There's already one if not two threads in the forums on this "new" mk2 update you could have just posted this in one of those threads instead of making a whole new thread on something of this nature.
just a suggestion for future reference bud. But what's done is done no biggie I'm not the xda police err anything...just a kind suggestion is all, cause I know a lot of people do this sort of thing (post a topic on something that has already been posted without searching) and some people don't take to kindly to it. I honestly could care less just for the rec so you don't think I'm attacking you lol.
but since this thread is the latest on the mk2 update and is takeing up space in the forums. i will ask a favor of you or anyone else who has taken the mk2 ota can you kindly post a (copy of their dumped partitions from modem and non-hlos) so unknownforce can build the proper files needed to get this mk2 modem live and up in the forums for us who just want the modem alone out of the mk2 update.

EDIT:also I searched and don't know where I seen it but someone said they noticed not so good results on the mk2 modem apposed to the mja modem. Idk if that's accurate but I'm just curious do you notice a improvement or decline when on mk2's modem alone, Signal and data speed wise ?

No doubt it makes sense NOT!!!!!! If it is not geographical then what? Not sure how OTA chooses because one of my S4 out of 2 got the update and the other didn't. Both phones activated with minutes of each other so obviously more of a random decision on OTA.
