do you guys know if the z1 enables group texting on the stock message app? I know the z doesn't on 4.2.2 but the galaxy s4 does
group texting like in imessage where 3+ people can text in one thread, not MASS texting individuals
I know you can use go sms pro but I would like to know if it works on stock message app, I would appreciate it thanks

Okay I looked high and low for an answer and It may be what I am looking up but heres the scenario.
I have two girls that wanna "chat" at the same time now I know you can send bulk messages natively but I was wondering if there is a way to either combine or something of that nature the sms that come in from them.
Thanks in advance
ATT Captivate
GoSMS PRO
Cyanogen mod 7
Shouldn't you be asking GoSMS about that since that's the app you're using? Honestly I have no clue if what you want is possible
KIK messenger has a group chat feature, but I think you all have to have it installed to use it. Or Gchat has a group chat feature as well.

Yeah if you want to do group messaging, its gonna have to be some kind of IM app. KIK is amazing FWIW.
The only reason i put the SMS app im using is for reference as far and the other people have oldder phones like a razr I think.. So I need a app that could not only send but recve sms and group them based on the person
I used the default messaging app for my HTC Vivid. I tried group messaging and sent out a picture to many of my friends. It came to them as a group message, but to me, it came back as a single thread(the original thread, one-to-one thread). It would never come back as a group message. It caused a whole lot of problems because of this. ;(
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, or is it just me?
Or maybe does someone have a suggested app to replace the default messaging app, that is fairly similar to the default one?

i use handcent
I didn't like handcent, because of the looks. Is there any other options?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
i personally use go sms as my messaging app
I tried both handcent and go sms. Is there anything more similar to the default app? But thank you for your suggestions.
i use gosms as well and it is great you should use it as well
Do you know if there is a fix for android 4.0 stock messaging app for group messaging?
haha I had the opposite issue, if I grouped people, whenever I sent a message to any 2 people in the group, it turned it into a group message. So I have to send messages individually, if I don't want the entire group seeing individual responses.
Anyone know a fix to this?
The ability to send out to a group of people, more than one, the same message (Multiple contacts in one message), without turning it into an "all can read responses" group message.
So you could send out a group text and it became as group message for all? I wish I could do that. What messaging app do you use?
Is there a way I can group text with the stock app? when I try it sends it to them individually and it's not a group. I tried go sms pro but it's a little slow
Do I have to root my Z to be able to get group texting?
I know the S4 users can send group texts with no problem to other users and iphones as well
In the field where you enter the contact name you want to message. Just click after the comma and start typing another name.
Or click the icon to ad contacts then just tick the boxes of all the contacts you want to send to.
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium 4.

Well it shows as a group text but it doesn't really send it in the same thread. It sends it individually to them. It's just like mass texting, I want GROUP texting
Group txt is not native in Android until 4.2. I think the sg4 ships with 4.2 which is why it has it. T-Mobile has not released the 4.2 update for the Z but I don't know about other carriers holding the update back . I've been using Textra and it works fine for group txt. I am noticing a few times the app will not download received picture messages and it does not update the threads if you send or receive picture messages with other apps. Meaning the default messaging app won't show the pictures in the message threads when they are sent or received with Textra and if you send the picture in the default app then the thread in Textra doesn't show them.

oh ok thanks for the response!
hmm actually I got 4.2.2 on my Z and still doesn't let me enable group texting on stock message app
So I just got my Moto X and its pretty awesome. My previous phone was an iPhone 3GS and I really liked iMessage but I figured that now since Android supports group sms I would take the plunge. However, after doing my first group message today I was only able to see 1 of my contact's text messages while everyone elses messages just never reached me (I guess in text message limbo).
All of the people I messaged were iPhone users (5 and 5s). Is this just a blip or just a common problem that I will have to deal with for the next 2 yrs (which I dont really want to deal with, all of my friends are iPhone users)? Could it possibly be a ATT problem, I tried texting my phone from one of my friends and immediately it went to iMessage instead of SMS but it eventually changed to text and I got it.
so I asked motorola about this issue. They said group messaging is no longer supported (wth) and I should download a 3rd party app.

If you like the stock app check out 8sms. Works very well and supports group messaging.
I have found that group messaging on android is pretty lack luster. I've installed Google hangouts as my default sms app and just deal with the issues. Hopefully, it will get better over time. They have a ton of issues to work through though. Good luck.
I do group messaging all the time in the hangouts app. Works no problem for me at all. I do them as "group MMS" messages. Try switching your SMS app to hangouts and see if it's any better.
Oh and before you switched from the iPhone did you unregister your phone number with iMessage? If not, that might be why they're not coming through. The apple database thinks you're still on iMessage and they're getting lost in limbo. See this:

Anyone know how to enable them or an app to use? I'm using the stock messaging app and I can't see/send group texts. All of the texts from the group text are being sent as individual texts instead of a group text. any help would be great, thanks!
That's how mine is too. Probably just have to use an alternate messanger if you want it, like Android messages, Hangouts, or whatsapp.
Maybe they should add some features to the stock messanger app, it's very basic.
Use Signal. It is a great texting app that also allows for end-to-end encryption for anyone else that uses the app.
thanks guys, im using android messages and it seems to work fine.
