Post 4.3 Error Messages/Ring Tone & Notification Sounds Issue - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Prior to updating to Android 4.3 I would always get the "com.htc.bgp has stopped unexpectedly" error message following each restart. After updating to 4.3 that specific error message stopped appearing, however two new error messages have starting popping up post-update. These two new error messages seem to be related to a couple of other issues I am experiencing which are that I cannot change my ring-tones or notification sounds. When I attempt to do so in settings there is no response when I select (tap) either one to change the tone.
The reason I say they seem to be related is because both of the error messages appear when attempting to change sounds. The first occurs when I select "notification sound" for text messages from the settings tab in the 3-dot menu in the top-right corner of the "All Messages" screen. The second occurs when I try to change the tone for the alarm in the clock app. Basically at this point I cannot change any of the phone's sounds for ring-tone, notifications and alarms because I either get no response, as described above, or an error message. I did notice that I still have the ability to change tones within the gmail app.
Has anyone else experienced this subsequent to the Android 4.3 update? Any ideas how to fix this? A simple restart did not correct the problem. BTW I am not rooted.

a few minor annoyances with my htc diamodn

i have a htc diamond with nam 3g. i know that a few people have the same problem with me which is "display message on screen" for notification for reminder keeps unchecking itself randomly. i have not found a solution for this.
also for some reason when i receive a text message, i only get sound and vibration and light but the device doesn't wake up. even when i wake it up it doesn't show me the message unless i actually go to the text message menu. i also did enable "show message on screen" in notification for receiving new text message. is this happening for everyone who uses official HTC rom? i am using the 2.03.405.3 wwe rom. would reflashing the rom or hard reset fix these problems?
Wake Up on New SMS --> Using any registry editor go to HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL and change DisableSMSWakeUpEvent from "1" to "0".
I suggest you read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
thanks i got that fixed now but what about my other problem? for some reason some of the notifications options are being unchecked randomly. for example the "show message on screen" when it is reminding mee of a an appointment sometimes while get unticked randomly by itself. anyone else having this problem? would i hard reset fix it?
also i have just done a hard reset on the diamond to see if it will fix my reminder notification problem and i find out that the device doesn't wake up when a text message is received. is this normal for all touch diamonds before any mods? why would htc not make wake the device up when a message is received?
bump... how can i be the one of the few people having the "display message on screen problem"? i notice that this box gets unchecked everytime i use opera and i have to manually check the box again!!
Same problem to me.
I see no relation to Opera, but my display message on screen box gets unticked randomly.
For a moment I had the idea that Opera was causing it, but now I cannot force it to happen by starting/stopping Opera.
Very ennoying.
Another problem I have is that some sounds I used for years and years do not seem to work any more in the latest HTC ROM.
I have a Touchpro btw....
Huib
I have the same problem. My "Settings-> Sounds & Notifications-> Notifications -> Reminders -> Display message on screen" box becomes unchecked randomly. I have not noticed a cause-and-effect relationship yet.
Also, when I dismiss the Sounds & Notifications control panel, I frequently get a "We're Sorry... A problem has occurred with shell32.exe". I wonder if these two problems are related.
Any suggestions?

HTC Touch Diamond
Sprint Official ROM 2.00.651.7 3/12/09
any solutions to the msg display prob??
reflash with stock ROM from HTC. It should fix your prob.
I too am having this problem, and have not found a cause. It seems that it usually us unchecked after a soft reset, but not always.
Have yet to find a fix for this; anybody have any ideas (other than the guy who suggested flashing back to a stock ROM; idiotic suggestion; for anyone who is browsing XDA, and has a cooked ROM installed, I guarantee a stock ROM would NOT be an option)?
"Display message on screen" unchecks itself
yep, I too have the same really annoying problem and can't find a fix anywhere. I thought it maybe the Duttys ROM I am using but hadn't heard the Opera causing theory before. Any other suggestions anyone?
I'm having the same problem with the "Display message on screen" option where it unchecks on its own. Has anyone found any solution yet?

No SMS notification, delayed

So i just got my Diamond 2, and it's great and all.
One annoying thing though, is that when i receive a SMS/text when the phone is 'sleeping',
the phone does not notify me by sound/vibration/LED blinking.
Often i have to wake the phone up manually, and first THEN the phone notifies me by sound/ring.
changing the SMSWakeUp setting in the registry helps,
but then it's wakes up unlocked (with CSDEVCTRL installed, other apps don't lock perfectly), which is a big annoyance.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and maybe have a solution?
Regards.
Goto "Settings --- Sound ----- Advanced ----- Notifications ----- Event ---- New Text Message" and disable "Play Sound".... then "ok" for exit.. Then repeat this for enable sound for "New Text Message" and change default message tone..
This works for me.. Never missed message after this "weird" settings..
Doesn't work, thanks for the advice though
For the "New Text Message" event, just untick "Display Message" and it will wake up locked, play sounds, and flash the LED
This has been mentioned on other threads, quite a few people including myself are having the same problem and it doesnt appear to be a settings issue.
On about 50% of received messages all i get is the green light flashing, when the phone is woken the text alert sounds.
This used to happen on every message, a hard reset improved things but its still not perfect. I send and receive a lot of SMS messages and its really annoying not to be notified when i get replies.
Maybe this will be addressed in a firmware update.
Sorry, forgot to mention that I have also changed the SMSWakeUp registry key. I've had no problems in about 2 weeks with SMS since

Thanks, gonna read that.
I've enabled SMSwakeup and installed Pocketshield (slidelock only) as a temporary solution.

[Q] Not able to read SMS from telco!

Okay. When I receive a SMS from Maxis (my telco, no number it just shows up as Maxis.), I pull down notification bar and I press it and it open up Messaging apps but wrote 'No valid recipients'. I can see the brief messages in Notification Bar like "You have a missed call from ..." but not able to see it in Messaging app, why?
I'm on Simplicity 0.4pre, tried to ask them in the thread but I'm under 10 posts?! Does not have this problem before, and I'm lazy to go back to stock to try out

Lack of message vibration+notification over app (interupt)

Running CM7+Glitch
I cannot seem to find how to make my phone vibrate when I recieve a text message, or have the message notification display on top of apps when I'm in a other app. (e.g. the only way for me to see if I have a message is to go back to the desktop)
Any help here would be appreciate

Disappearing Messages

I get notifications of messages and I can see them when they are first receievd but then they go nowhere. When I open "Messages", the folder is emp[ty and it says "There are no messages." This means that if I don't read an incoming Message (text) as it comes in, it's then gone forever from the watch. I've tried adjusting all the settings I can possibly find but no luck!
