Hello guys. I have a Ace S5830 in CWM 5.0.2.6 and just flashed Maclaw's CM 9 RC3. Now i'm trying to restore my backup to the SD card. I connected the USB and opened kies but it's not recognising my device. Then i went to the removable disk and it says please insert a disk into F:/
So how can i restore my backup to the SD card?? thank you
Go into recovery, click mounts and storage, and then plug into computer. Then, mount usb mass storage and device should be recognised. also, make sure you have the correct drivers for your Samsung.

But is there no other way to do it? I mean i've used kies for backup and restore until i used this ROM. So because of this ROM kies isn't recognising my device?
Ac. to my knowledge ur phone is rooted n the warranty is expired so Kies wont recognize ur cell.
hit thanks if helped
Chuck that Kies !
Dude ! Kies has always sucked !
Why don't you just forget that !
and the reason for kies not detecting you device might be because your device is rooted.I'm not sure about that !
But you can go to CWM recovery ....then mounts and storage and select "MOUNT SD CARD"
Then select "MOUNT USB STORAGE" and connect it to ur pc and transfer what ever you want.
That's the Quickest way ! :good:
Also, next time, try to back up with the app called titanium backup as it is universal for all phones and highly recommend.

Hey i did all that and i found that i already had the files on my SD card. I'm able to access music and photos but not apps! And my contacts are gone. very confused
I did what u guys said and i copied the files in my backup to the F:/ and it started copying and while it was copying fruit ninja.asec from .android secure and then it hangs. Then when to access F:/ it says there is an I/O device error. So i tried again and same thing...Any suggestions?
kise sucks, the only purpose of kies is for our phones to be detected, we needed the divers of kies..haha never to use it as to back up..CWM is the best when backing up sytem and image
If your contacts were saved onto your Google account, they should sync automatically when you sign in. If not, you have to have backed up the contacts by exporting them to either the sim or sdcard. If you did not do that, then you cannot get them back. Also, im not sure about the app sync problem, but if you go to play store and sign in with the same account as before, you can go to my apps and redownload them from there. Hope i helped

Ohhh. Ok i lost all my contacts forever then I signed into my google accounts and apps aren't there in "my apps" but they're there in "all apps".
But before flashing the ROM( that i currently have) i backed up all the data to the PC! I checked on my SD card and found that all the data was there but the apps weren't there on the phone! So then i recopied the backup (on my PC) to the SD card but then i had tat problem i mentioned above.
Well i had 2.3.6. stock before i rooted and got maclaw's ICS ROM and i partitioned 256M of my SD card using CWM. Does that affect anything?
Thx a lot! Sorry i'm very new to all this

I guess you din't get it right ! Read the below carefully now and hit the THANKS button if you understood and if it was helpful
See since you din't sync your contacts to Google Account or moved it to the SIM card it's gone forever ! Nothing can be done !
It was useless backing up with kies ...so next time just don't open that idiotic software !
You should have backed up using CWM Recovery ! But never mind ..you are new to this
You are able to access you photos, songs and other stuff because they are stored on your SD card and by rooting or flashing a ROM ..nothing happens to your SD card !
After flashing a ROM ..your apps wont remain there ...because you factory reset your phone before flashing a ROM !
But still your app data will remain in SD card ...meaning ...Suppose before flashing a ROM u used to play a game on ur STOCK firmware and u had completed 5 levels of that game and that gets saved on your SD card ..now if you install that same Game on ICS AOSP ROM now ..you will find those 5 levels completed
So you need to download your apps again from Google play ! and partitions dont cause any problem
Wohaa !! That was the Longest ..I Have typed on XDA ;p
No it shouldn't affect anything, but just to clarify, what version of clockwork do you have? Also, were you able to reinstall the app from play store?

Yeah i know that i erased my SD card data. I downloaded the apps again but the app data isn't the same as when it was on stock.(for example i had fruit ninja where i unlocked everything but now it's all lost and same with other apps also) So maybe something is wrong?

CWM 5.0.2.6 and yes i downloaded everything again .
Strange ! I have my SD card as it is since I bought it ...I have never formatted it ..but still I keep changing ROM's and the app data always remains !
Sorry i keep asking q's. But is there no solution to this? I'm not able to even transfer my previous backup data(before installing the ROM) to the phone as it says I/O error...So i'll have this problem each time i flash a new ROM?

No ! No ! Nothing like that ..you won't have these problems all the time !
BTW..which ROM are you using now ?
That backup has the saved data such as level progress and all in my apps. I'm using the same one ICS RC4 by Maclaw.

See to restore your backed up data ..you don't have to move those backed up files to ur SD card that won't do the job.
Since you have backed up using kies you will have to restore through that software only !
First of al I'm not talking about our device but my friends S4 Mini LTE!
But the S4 mini community is not that active, really..
So I was going to flash Liquid Smooth for him (he was running stock rom, no root), so made backup for safety but the backup took 3gb space and that was all he had left.
I used this one (CWM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980
I stopt after step 6, only wanted CWM recovery because Liquid Smooth would give root automaticly.. I did everything right!
- CWM worked properly
- Made backup (didn't know it would be 3gb)
- Rebooted, phone says not enough memory
- Can't find the backup. Really NOWHERE, trust me.
- CWM was not installed anymore when I again booted in recovery.
So the problem is that cwm is not installed anymore? If I flash md5. again with odin to get cwm will I find the nandroid backup?
I really need to solve this, it's my friends phone soo..
I made backup for safety, but now the backup is the problem because it's so big and can't be found.
Thanks
Again I know this is not s4 mini section but it's pretty dead over there, or our device section is extremely alive

Probably nowhere, maybe it deleted files after there was not enough space. CWM make folder in root of exnternal/internal memory called clockworkmod. If it is not present, then there is no backup.

But space is fully
So there must be something..
And backup was succesfully completed.
Really need to find/delete it, it's my friends phone.
Is there other way than searching file, for example doing such thing it will be removed but he still has his photo's/music.

Try it on PC. And put hidden files to be shown. I have no idea where it could be. Maybe it is in different place on S4 mini.
Or make backup of stuff he uses, format and put them back on the phone.

Not system, backup is not there. Format sd card, the one you said it is full - and it has no apps it has data (music, pictures etc...). System has nothing to do with CWM nandroid backup.

Hi all,
I noticed that my internal sd card has two 0 folders, they are like so
Sdcard/0/0/
Everything from internet saves on the first /0/Download for ex., i am now on arhd 51, but previously on archidroid everything saved inside /0/0/Download, is there any way to fix this, or repartition or something without need to wipe all the data in sd? Because everything is messed up and i don't know any more wich uses what folder and so on.
Thx in front.
Edit: posted in i9305 not i9300 Q&A, mods please transfer, sorry for that.

can you post some screenshots of the two folders and their content, perhaps i can tell you what to do?
Edit: you can also copy all the files in one of the 0 folders to the other 0 folder and delete the empty one, i asked for screenshots just to make sure if there is any important file in one of those folders that maybe will cause problems with functioning of other apps or system settings if you replace it.
Here is the /0/0/ and i cannot delete archidroid folder or clockworkmod folder (write protected), also if i copy pictures from 0/0/DCIM/Camera to 0/DCIM/Camera, they are not shown, even after reboot when mediascanner is running, when i transfer them back they are imediately shown.
Edit: i can delete archidroid and clockworkmod folder, but via phone, not via pc, but the probem with transfering pictures to now used DCIM still persists.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium
I transfered all the pics inside a new folder in sdcard/0/DCIM but they just don't wanna show, they pop up only in sdcard/0/0/DCIM
What can cause this problem? (I can normally view them in file managers.
I noticed that when i force run media scanner it scans storage/emulated/0/0/
It doesnt scan the first /0/ that is used now, can this be fixed?

oke bro, here is what you should do everything personal and important to you like pics./music/documents copy to your external sd card or to your pc if possible both should be safe. format your internal sd card of the phone in recovery mode after everything is restored back put your files back into proper folders and all should be fine again. you are rooted and have custom recovery installed right?

Yes of course i'm rooted with twrp, i tought there was some other way than getting in all that copy paste, but i'll do that and then it must, just must work.
I think i messed something up in archidroid installation when it asked for EXT4 repartitioning or something like that.

yes that must be it, as i had read somewhere on these threads a similar problem like yours its better to avoid changing or setting options from which you dont understand what they do like EXT4 or F2FS partitions unless you know what you are doing. at least thats what i do to avoid any problems with my device

Yes, i know now for future, but, one more question..
It's 'calculating time for copy...' now, i see it'll take ages to 'calculate', so, is there any option to just mount the internal sd card, i remember i could mount it via CWM on my old S2 and everything went quick, but i cannot mount just SD anymore, only as a 'Media device', it seems quite slower..
Do you know an option to do that?
Edit: Disabled indexing, it's flying now

I do recommend using philz touch CWM advanced edition or just the CWM touch version as a recovery choice (especially philz) rather than Twrp, but its all up to you..
I was on philz quite a while, now testing twrp, i did the wipe, everything's perfect now, but i accidentaly deleted my pics coz' they were in the 0/0/ and i deleted the second 0 thinking i don't need it
I got a little shock but i'll recover

You don't even have to do that. Download factory image to computer, boot phone into bootloader, flash images manually using fastboot.

Did you Take the OTA and then stuff broke?
If you look in the marhmallow thread under general says "its here",there is a gentleman i believe /u/DTR8UPX that uploaded a complete stock backup.if youve already taken the 6.0.1(MM) OTA and cant boot to android,i suggest restoring that from TWRP if you can access it. This happened to me yesterday, and i spent countless hours trying to find a solution.please be sure to thank his post if you do use it.

You should have folders structured for TWRP on both your internal and sdcard.,something like /TWRP/BACKUPS/YOURSERIALNO/Name of backup. So you want to extract the backup STR8UPX made, then place the first folder after his Serial # in YOUR serial Numbers folder.ive attached a pic to show you how my folder structure is.
Keep in mind the structure is the same only thing that would be different for you is that its on internal storage.
