The Chromecast app will show you the firmware version.

Set it up, connect it to your router, BUT with your internet cable unplugged from the router, so that your router is on and working but with no internet access. Then, you can see the firmware version on the Google Chromecast app for android (available on this forum if not available on the play store in your region)

I just got my Note last week. I am trying to sync my phone to laptop. But somehow, it gets stuck on "connecting". Any tips or other alternatives? Thanks in advance. I plan on rooting my phone. Thats why I need to back up my phone first. Thanks in advance!
What OS are you using? Did you install the USB drivers?
Windows. Yes I in stalled it. But somehow it says that its not properly installed. And problems may occur. I dont know the reason. I tried, reinstalling it, but still same problem. Can I sync it wirelessly?
Hi.
I had the same problem, but it worked after I unchecked the USB Debugging.
Regards
Your problem is most probably the usb debugging uncheck it and your phone is in kiesmode

Try uninstalling, downloading from the country website your phone is from. Or your csc is from. Download from the N7000 page kies. Then install and run as admin. If it doesnt connect perform the connection wizard, or connection troubleshooting. that will reinstall drivers. These steps work for me everytime.

already tried. But when i plug my note to my laptop, still same problem. It says that not installed properly. The USB debugging is already unchecked. What should I do now? Should I try it in another computer?
Do a software update over wifi for your phone and downdload the latest kies from official website.

Sorry if this is a stupid answer but I was having a lot of trouble connecting my note to the PC. I was using a cable I used for all my phones that worked fine. Someone told me to try it with the cable Samsung supplied and after that it all worked fine. I just thought it might be worth trying.

I am using the Kies usb. i already downloaded the Kies via the samsung website. And After I opened it, it says a newer version is available. So I updated. I also tried the Kies air, I can see the apps on my phone, but I seem cant find where is the sync button for me to make a back up for my phone. How do i use Kies wifi? Sorry again for these noob questions. First time to use android phones. Thanks again!
Kies wifi needs phone and computer to be on same router

Kies Air doesn't do that. The main (PC) KIES app does. But, even if you connect through KIES, it will only allow you to back up things like contacts, photos, ringtones etc. It won't be a full backup of your system.
What can help if KIES doesn't see your phone:
1. Installing the latest version of KIES (which you already did)
2. Making sure your phone is in the MTP (not USB memory) mode. It should be as a default, unless you actually click on "USB memory" button when connecting to PC
3. Unchecking "USB debugging"
4. Running the connection repair wizard in KIES (I have a local language version, so I don't know the exact English name) - this reinstalls drivers - and then connecting again.
5. Trying a different USB port or cable
6. Rebooting both the phone and computer
If all fails, then probably this is a problem with Windows drivers. Repairing this would require a bit of expertise and involves booting Windows in safe mode, checking which devices and drivers are actually installed and removing any that seem suspicious. If you have never done that, an easier option would be installing KIES on another computer and doing the backup there.
Theoretically, running the connection repair wizard in KIES should clean and reinstall the right drivers for your phone, but in practice this doesn't always work as it should.
I have inherited my wife's i957 LTE and I just cannot get this this to connect via ODIN. I know it's not the pc (tried 3 of them plus they all connect to my NOTE 2), I have the drivers installed, I'm using the original cable.
If I connect by just plugging into the USB, it'll beep like it's connected, it'll show on the battery (although I know it doesn't charge via USB) but no looking for new devices or anything else. If I open ODIN and connect I'll get a USB device not recognized every time.
Anyone have an idea? I ordered another cable just to be sure, but it seems like it wants to connect judging by the fact I get an error. i have tried on XPsp3, 7 32bit and 7 64-bit. Same deal on every machine.
Thanks for any suggestions, Being on Honeycomb when I don't have to be irks the geek in me
I assume you've tried the OTA ics? Not sure what to tell you other than what you've already tried for Odin. For some reason the i957 seems to be a real bear to get the usb to work right. I've had similar problems but found a computer I can connect to. You might try kies too. You will like ics much better.

I would love to do the OTA update, but I can't connect to Kies either and AT&T's update is only via Kies (or so I've been led to believe)
Go to settings, about device. There is a software update there.

Tried that, says I'm up to date but I'm still on honeycomb. Weird
Sorry I can't be of more help. I installed it via Odin. If you have a custom recovery installed you can get the zip file from sammobile.com. but if you had a custom recovery you'd probably have already done that. And you need odin to put a custom recovery on your device do that's not going to work.

Please let me know what exactly you did in order to get this done. We've bought some 10 S3 minis where I work and I've had no success in doing so. I've found no settings which would le me do that. My Galaxy Note has no problem with this at all. I also tried installing samsung usb drivers but no luck. The only thing that happens on the phone once it's connected is the sound of battery charging.

Yes, that should be normal. However, on one of those phones nothing happens at all. I tried another one meanwhile and it works

I hate it when a reboot solves stuff. Like this one. Spent hours figuring it out, at the end rebooted and all works now. Thanks anyway!
Sometimes plugging the USB cable into another USB port helps, well it do with me.

The all solution above are wonderful or you can always enjoy flashing a new firmware

Tried different usb ports and different PCs. Nothing worked until a phone reboot. For flashing stuff, right, but these are company phones and have to use stock FW. Mine is not using stock, but of corse!

Well I don't really need it. I'm just saying that when I plug my phone into the computer it won't open as a mass storage device or anything. The computer reads it, but doesn't do anything with it

So yeah since last night, my Galaxy S stopped connecting to my PC. I get the error 'USB device not recognized'. I thought the problem was with my PC, so I took my Nexus 7, using the same cable and the same port and it works. The thing is, my phone charges when it's connected, i just don't get a pop box saying 'Connect to PC'. Running Hellybean-20130110-galaxysmtd for 6 months now.. Android 4.2.1 btw.PLEASE HELP ME!

I know that on the s3 theres a code you enter in the dailer and you can change some settings there on how your device connects eather that or your drivers on the pc got corrupt. Try reinstalling drivers and google that code maybe there is one for our phone.

I actually solved it.
You just go to Download Mode, connect to USB. It should install a driver. And then it'll be fixed.
so?no thanks button
